Mercedes-Benz C-Class W203 - Radio Reception - lion345

My first Merc is a 2003 C270 and I love it to bits apart from one thing. The A10 radio/casette has the worst radio reception of any car I have owned. It's fine where the signal is strong but fades quickly at the bottom of hills and even disappears completely in some areas where reception is possible in all other vehicles. I've read that the amplifier fuse connected with this radio is in the habit of blowing or even the amplifier itself fails. I can't check the fuse or the amplifier because I just don't know where to look for either (the handbook is not helpful). Grateful for any help anyone can give me. Dandan the Merc Man.

Check the arial lead has not dropped out because normally Merc radios are superb.

Thanks Andy, but it has not dropped out of the back of the radio. Is there another connection at the other end, i.e. heated rear window?

There will be one but where I do not know my c class was an estate with the arial in the side window.

I had a friend with this problem, and yes it was the heated window connection, and apparently a sod to fix.

Does your remote work OK? His would only work on infra-red not RF, presumably a related system.
