Hi. I wondered if anyone was experiencing problems with the delivery of their ix35? My 4wd premium model was ordered end of March, was estimated delivery May/June and I have just been advised that due to supply problems it will not arrive until July/August! I am very disappointed to say the least and would like to know if it is just mine that is delayed.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - michaelpaul

I have had to chase my order of premium 4wd since ordering beginning of march and no joy getting an answer about delay. Heard that it may be July, but who knows! Considering going into the Ford garage and picking up a Kuga!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - webskaren

I too have thought about a kuga but the added cost was what put me off. I understand that I can give my dealer an ultimatum, (something about time being of the essence) set a reasonable date and then demand my money back if it's not here by then, however I am sitting on that threat for now as they tell me it will hopefully arrive end of July. If it isn't here for my holiday in August I shall definitely cancel! I didn't place my order until I had test driven the car and I suppose I should have suspected the worst then, as the demo model wasn't ready on the launch date!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - fitlike

i ordered my ix35 premium 4x4 on 11th april 2010 agreed to collect on thursday 1st july do not think its going to happen. will let you know when it is ready to collect.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - EazyIX35

fitlike, did you receive the car on the 1st July as promised?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - fitlike

no its now the middle of august . will let keep you updated

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - fitlike

no been told middle of august it still in the factory salesmamn going to let me now when it leaves there . i will keep you updated. graham

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - webskaren

Michaelpaul, you ordered your 4wd premium a couple of week before me, have you got it yet? It seem to me that people are receiving 2wd versions but not 4wd. I am getting nowhere with my salesman, I am going to have to chase him up yet again!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - michaelpaul

Hi webskaren. No, still not had mine and been told it will now be Sep/Oct before it is delivered. I went to look at the Ford Kuga as I was seriously considering cancelling with Hyundai but when I was told I would have to pay around £4k more, just for their standard model I decided it would be worth waiting for the ix35!!! You heard anything?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - webskaren

Hi Michaelpaul. I contacted my dealer today and he tells me the car went into production yesterday so I am looking at about another 3 weeks, one week to manufacture, one week to ship, then to sort out at this end once it has docked. I think that is a bit optimistic but I will keep you updated. Karen

Hyundai lix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

Mine was ordered the 14th may, i was told end of july, now begining of september at the earliest. as previously mentioned mine is 4wd with both packs. There must be major delay with these models. I think this could backfire big time on hyundai as there is only so much patience, that people have. Its going to mean me having to put some new tyres and road tax on due to delay. Every wk that passes by i am having second thoughts, on whether to look elsewhere. karl.

Hyundai lix35 - delayed delivery - EazyIX35

Karl66m I ordered my 4wd 3 days after you so I'm expecting early September too. On the bright side, at least we'll have a 'new' reg for more than just a few weeks.

I received this response from Hyundai UK today "The ix35 is in extremely high demand and the factory is working at full capacity to supply customers as soon as possible. The current delivery time being quoted to new customers is 8-13 weeks. Dealers are updated about the supply situation of all Hyundai models in a weekly email."

Hyundai ix35- delayed delivery. - karl66

Yes i suppose there is the new 60 reg bonus, problem for me is i'm putting my private reg on!!. I wonder if there will be as much demand for the new kia sportage, as its on the same chassis. karl.

I collected a showroom model infra red 2litre diesel 4 wd premium on May 12th and have just returned from a holiday in Spain driving 3400 miles down France and Spain mainly betweeen 80-85 mph and returned 39.4 mpg.We also have a Qashqai Tekna 2 litre diesel and we are glad we took the ix35.It was the most comfortable long journey we have made with no sign of any back or leg ache from either driver or passenger. Also the air con system is first class and coped very well with the 38 degree temperatures.I traded in a Qashqai 1.5 diesel for the ix35 and nearly replaced it with a Qashqai but i am very glad i have not .It was the 5 year warranty that swung the deal.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - webskaren

12th July and still no idea when, or if my car will be delivered, awaiting some news from Hyundai supply via salesman. Anyone else had any updates?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

HI, i have had an order in since the 12th may 2010 for a premium 4x4 in sirus silver with media pk and brown leather trim. They told me delivery would be the end of july, but due to high demand its now going to be early september at the earliest and could be longer!!.I'd love to here some feedback from owners of these to gauge whether its worth the wait. thanks karl.

Only £700 of a hyundai list price for a top of the range model, wow these crossover vehicles must be as good as the reviewers make out if you are forking out near list price for hyundais.

Is the new mitsubishi crossover not a cheaper and just as reliable alternative to the hyundai ix35?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

The waiting game is frustrating, but i think this proves what a major coup Hyundai have with the ix35. Believe me i have tried lots of different makes, before making my mind up. The mitsibushi is not even in the same league as the ix35 and the kuga in my opinion looks to chavy, for the money it commands. Also the build quality on both of the mentioned is not as solid also. I am coming out of a fairly new bmw to drive the ix35, so you can tell how impressed i was. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - ph1963

Yes you're right - the waiting game was frustrating but I picked up my Premium 2WD with media pack on Monday and it's brilliant. It's black metallic and wonderful. Looking forward to taking it to Corsica next month (driving down through France to Ma***ille and the ferry to Ajaccio - excited as we arrive there 1 month today (14th August). The car is comfy and a joy to drive.

PH

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

Fantasic news yours has arrived, what do you think of the ride quality when you hit holes and bumps in the road?. I can't also understand why some magazine reviews say the car is noisey and unrefined, as my experience with it was a feeling of luxury and quietness.Have you noticed any creaking from the front seats yet as this was my only issue with a previous santa fe. many thanks karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Craigdm

Had mine for 3 months & 3000 miles now....No creaks and nothing has fallen off yet ! Going back to the garage tomorrow though for a recall mod on the clutch pedal.

Still a bit disappointed with the economy though..average is now upto 36mpg, but that's still well short of the claimed 47 mpg combined figure. Wish I'd waited for the new Mitsubishi, HJ managed over 50mpg in his road test on the front page !

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

You mention you have the premium model, do you have the 4wd version because if you dont i'm a little worried what mpg i will get?. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Craigdm

I've got the 2WD Diesel Premium... Don't worry though, as for some strange reason the brochure quotes the 4WD version as being slightly more frugal.

TBH I'm quite shocked just how far away the real world figure I'm getting is away from the published figures. Combined figure quoted is 47.9 !!! Most annoying thing is that just after the DPF has regenerated the car will average 45mpg for a day or so, but then start dropping down. Show's the engine is capable of these figures, but the DPF is dragging down the economy.

So the new Euro V spec engine is much cleaner, but it'll use 33% more fuel that it could do without the DPF...go figure that one !

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - ph1963

What's with the recall mod on the clutch pedal? Any info gratefully received as I'd obviously like to know whether mine would have had it done before I took it on Monday - it may have been done as part of the pdi.

What colour do you have? The black metallic is superb on the Premium as the dark windows and sunroof really go well. Can't get used to not taking the key out of the ignition at the end of a journey yet - old habits die hard! The satnav and reversing camera are great gizmos too - my 12 year old love to watch the screen while reversing (me, not him!)

Peter

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Craigdm

No details of what the recall was for, I think all amnufactures are just a bit jumpy about pedals after the Toyota incident !

My IX35 is in White, and is looking better than ever after it's visit to the dealer. They gave it a full valet and even managed to get off all the bugs that I couldn't get off even with the power wash. I'll have to ask them what they used to get them off !

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - ph1963

The ride quality seems really good - very comfortable and no creaking from the front seats. The build quality also seems fine generally. Have only covered just under 100 miles so far and the digital fuel gauge has not yet dropped a 'notch'. Either means the mpg is brilliant or it will drop quickly at some point.

I'll fill the tank over the weekend and post my average mpg. Haven't worked out how to use the computer! Long days at work at the moment!

Gladly answer any other questions but so far the car is truly impressive. Haven't yet seen any other on the south coast apart from the garage demonstrator and mine is getting some great comments locally.

Peter

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

Good to hear peter. Hopefully i may get some more info on delivery in the next few wks. I've just noticed the first 4x4 premium for sale on autotrader in infa red, its a shame its got no media or leather pk on as i might of been interested!!. Its on for £19995, with 3k miles. i've paid £21900 for a brand new one with media & brown leather so i hope i got a good deal. Please keep us informed on how your getting on with yours. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - ph1963

I have been following the ix35s on Autotrader for quite a while and there are now 10 on there including a brand new one (no colour mentioned - just metallic) for £22650 with media and individual packs - doesn't say whether 2WD or 4WD either! 184 miles from my home so won't be going for a look!

Just clocked up 200 miles now! Perfect!

Peter

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

peter, £22650 sounds about right for a 4x4 version on the the road. £800 off list was the most i could negotiate anywhere. I live in the west midlands, but i rang and visited dealers within a 200mile radius!!. The reason i mentioned the seat sqeaking previously was the ix35 i test drove sounded like there was a mouse under the seat. I had this on a previous santa fe, and was a little concerned the bottom of the seat frame was a fault on these cars.Anyway it seems i am alone as i've not heard of anyone else with this issue.karl

Suggest you look at the new Kia Sportage 2.0 CRDi First Edition - £20,777
full leather, dual-zone climate control, rain-sensing wipers, a reversing camera built into the rear-view mirror, LED daytime running lights and 18in alloys are all standard.

And better ride quality than the Hyundai
Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

The ix35 premium has a lot more standard kit than the kia sportage, plus i think it looks a lot more expensive. In my opinion the sportage looks a little tacky. I doubt they ride any different as the chassis is the same, and also the suspension is the same.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - colinh
Components may be the same - settings can be different.

Some quotes from a magazine's first drive:

"If anything, this car seems more refined at speed than its cousin, Hyundai’s iX35"

"because the Sportage’s chassis – tuned with assistance from Lotus in the UK – strikes an excellent balance between body control and comfort. Think one notch off a Kuga’s agility, but one notch more compliant, and you’d have a good idea of the set-up."

Hello all..

Well, what a saga trying to obtain this vehicle..!

The company I work for placed an order for three IX35 premium 4x4's from a local Hyundai dealer mid March... we are still waiting for delivery.

The salesperson reason is simply massive demand, the factory is currently running at 6-8 weeks behind schedule, but with that in mind .. 4 months and still waiting is trying the patience a tad!

It's been three times now that the salesman (sort of) promised that the cars are docking at Tilbury & will be delivered shortly... to no avail... the novelty of a fresh car has now worn off.

C'mon Hyundai... no more false promises please.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - EazyIX35

Hyundai seem to be in a world of their own at the moment. I'm just wondering how long my comment below which was posted onto Hyundai UK's facebook page last night will last before its deleted! ( www.facebook.com/hyundaiuk?filter=2 )

"I really think you need to go back to marketing school!. The 'film remake' theme is cringingly bad for all the Hyundai cars and look as if they were done on a £10 budget. The worst has to be “the Fly” for the IX35, however, it’s quite ironic that “Dude where’s my car” is also an IX35 ad and the majority of us who’ve ordered the car are asking the same question to our dealers!. Take a leaf out of Nissan’s book and show everyone just how exciting the new range is, especially the IX35."

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

As mentioned before, my order is for a 4wd with both media and individual pks. I ordered in early may, and delivery has been put back twice already. Today i've been informed if i want the brown leather there is a further delay till november. I have told them to keep the media pk but cancel the individual pk as on the premium you get half leather seats anyway. This hopefully will come through mid september. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - EazyIX35

Hi karl66, seems like another excuse to me, I can't believe that they wouldn't have enough brown leather seats!. Particulalrly since this is the colour in the IX35 brochures! (unless you can correct me).

I've told my dealer that I won't chase them until after my holiday in August as I simply don't believe what Hyundai are saying or what the dealer is selecting to tell me. I'm thinking my mid May order will arrive late September and the pride in getting a new car is extremely thin now like everyone else.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - colinh
Built at Kia plant - Kia Sportage launch next week - guess the priorities
Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

Anymore delays and i'll lose the will to live. I did want the brown leather but i'm not keen on waiting till november. Dont no what others think but i think the half leather and cloth seats still look good. I am supposed to be going to my dealer the wkend to take documents , so my private plate can go on retention . This is to make the changeover a quicker process when the ix35 arrives. My only concern is that if more delays occur they have me by the short and curlys if i decide not to keep waiting. I do feel a little for the dealer as he's guaranteed the value of my current car, however long it takes. This was fixed from early may. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - colinh
Have the half "leather" seats in my cee'd. Find they're a good compromise between wearing out cloth seats (my last Golf) and sticky posterior with full leather in the hot weather even with a/c

slight drift, but I had a peugeot 5008 on order, ordered in March with a 10 week delivery.

Current delivery estimated as october. Which means I have to cancel. Reason - hailstorm damaged cars and now factory closed for a month.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

we have decided today we are going to wait till late october/ early november for our first choice of car which is sirus silver 4wd with media and brown leather interior. We were also told today that the new delivery time for a fresh order for this spec would be january 2011!!. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

Hyundai uk have today told me that my car should be at my dealers for the end of september?, only 3 days ago my supplying dealer said it would be no earlier than the end of october/ early november?. I just dont know what to make of all this. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - fitlike

i just got a letter from hyundai today explaning the problem the reaction from uk has been exceptional and repeated acroos europe with result that production from our factory has been unable to keep up with customer orders . having secured additional production of ix35 for the uk .and will start to arrive over the next few weeks. having orderd my ix35 4x4 premium in black on 11. 04 . 2010. salesman told me last week my car will be hear in about 3 week s mind you my first date was 1st july . but i was told when orderd car 12 to 16 week delever. hyundai is giving me £500 worth of accessories for my new car as a goodwill gesture for being so patience.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - webskaren

Hi Fitlike, I have had the same letter and offer as you. I am told that I should have my car in about 2 weeks as it has apparently now arrived in the UK, having been ordered at the end of March.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - fitlike

are you getting the same as me?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - howmuchlonga!

Hi, I too ordered a Premium 4wd with both packs in mid May. No delivery date as of yet, but I will not wait till November for a Hyundai...not unless my delear is prepared to offer a significant discount.

I enjoyed the test drive and believe the product is excellent, but 6 months is far too long.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - TRITON750

HELLO, new to this site, I have had an IX35 4wd Premium with Media pack on order since the 8th of May. After attending the garage yesterday, the salesman only offered a couple of observations, one, the order now stands at No 12 in the build cue and indeed may have been built already and that the factory is now on their annual holidays until the 8th August. He has promised faithfully to give an update just ASAP. Very impressed with the car on the test drive, comparing it with our Mitsubishi Outlander it is positively quick, quiet and very well equipped also the bonus 5yr warranty. We have considered quite a few other SUV's, Kuga too expensive, Qasqai too small inside, new Sportage virtually unavailable for months and months. C'ant wait to get the IX, convinced it will be worth the wait.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

What do i do to qualify for this £500 credit!!.Was it direct from hyundai uk?, is it something everyone gets after waiting a certain time. thanks karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - youreds

No wonder I haven't seen any on the road yet. Anyone heard news about the automatic? My Hyundai dealer shook his head and told me they haven't started making an auto IX35 yet, was looking at around December at the earliest.

Is the Premium less plasticky than the standard? They only had a standard model at the dealership, which is weird, was really impressed but didn't like the hard plastic on the door cards, does this bit come in leather in the premium version?

Bit of a firm ride too. Sporty but firm. Is the Sportage softer??

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

I've only seen one on the road, that was a black style model at bham airport in may!.As for the auto version, it was due out november but my dealer has told me we wont see any autos till at least may or june 2011. On the premium model even if you go for top spec, inc full leather and media pks, the surfaces of the dash and doorcards remain the same.I think the quality of interior is top notch, with the fit and finish being better than the current 1 series bmw i drive. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - EazyIX35

Hi fitlike, who did you contact at Hyundai UK or did this letter ome out of the blue?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - webskaren

EazyIX35 You need to contact Hyundai, (I left a message on the hyundai uk website). I have already waited 18 weeks now and decided to contact them direct as the story was changing daily and I still am not sure exactly what is happening but two weeks to delivery seems to be the latest news.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - fitlike

fitlike easy ix35 no letter came out of the blue . how long have you been watting?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - EazyIX35
fitlike, i ordered mine 4 weeks after yours but I was originally promised by the end of July at the latest but I'm about to go on holiday for 2 weeks (which the dealer knows already), so they ca't be expecting the car until after that. Given yours and others experience, I think I'm looking at the end of September which means I'll be contacting Hyundai by the end of August to play holy hell and I'll be looking for £500 off the car rather than accessories. Anyway I hope that yours does turn up soon for yours and everybody else's sake who are watching the farce of the 4WD IX35 unfold.
Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

I've been told by hyundai uk to ring them on the 10th off august for a further update. This will be 3months wait for me by then, i dont think theres a cat in hell's chance of 4wd premiums with bothpks turning up by even the end of september. I also think there is a damage limitation exercise going on between hyundai uk and hyundai dealers to stop as many people as possible from cancelling there orders. I dont think i have ever had such a problem getting hold of any other cars before. If i have to wait till end of october i will, but i want some sort of compensation for my patience plus this really will be my final cut off point. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - gramar

To anyone waiting for ever and a day for their new car to arrive, I say give them a couple of chances and then ask for your deposit/ any other payment, back becuase they will be in breach of contract by then. The law of contract allows you to do this after a reasonable period of waiting. I for one would not wait any longer. Who wants a new car anyway? I have never bought new much prefering to get a good s/hand car and save a shed load of money. Hard earned for most part - why should anyone want to line the dealers pocket? GET OUT NOW!

There is a dealer on Autotrader with a black and a white IX35 both with the media pack on sale for £19.5K.Its only 'possible' they would consider a p/ex at these prices!.A bit pompous.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - EazyIX35

OK, just received an update from my dealer:-

1. The 4wd Premium + metallic pain + media pack that I ordered on 17th May 2010 is now back order number 5, on 24th May it was back order number 9!. Dealer was hopeful I would receive it mid September but I told him that he was being optimistic!. Apparently when he tried to get a scheduled build date, Hyundai couldn't provide one stating that the factory in Solvakia couldn't provide one, we all know that that's rubbish (any business would do that never mind the world's 4th largest car manufacturer).

2. Just to rub salt in, apparently the £500 of accessories i.e. parts + labour ( which equates to about a tow bar + fitting) is only being sent to those who ordered before 20th April. This was a cut off point decided by Hyundai, obvioulsy there are alot of us that won't be letting that stand. My dealer said he would provide all the details of who I need to contact at Hyundai when I return from my holiday.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

I ordered the 14th may, my order is supposed to be 2nd in backlog!!. We will see what they say at hyundai uk on the 10th august. karl.

Hi everyone,

It seems that things are moving now. I have got my registration number and delivery date after 19 weeks of waiting. I will be collecting the car this weekend and will let you know what I think. I hope you are not kept waiting too much longer!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - babygrumplin

Hi, ordered my my IX35 (premium, 4wd, white media pack) mid April so will be chasing later this week, considering giving them one more chance for delivery and then withdrawing my order as this will be their 4th missed estimate and they will be in breach of contract as far as I am concerned.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Dickie212

Hi everyone, So far I'm not impressed with the way Hyundai has launched this vehicle. I have for the last 20 years always purchased Japanese vehicles with no delivery problems whatsoever. On 25th April I ordered a Hyundai IX35 Premiumj 4wd with Media Pack and was told that there would be a waiting list of about 14wks. I changed from Mazda to Hyundai with a bit of reluctance but just loved the test drive of the IX35, prefering it over the Mazda CX7. On Saturday I rang my dealer to see if they had any news on delivery. You can imagine my annoyance when they told me that the IX35 is made in the same factory of the soon to be released Kia Sportage and that production of the IX35 has stopped temporarily due to the factory having to knock out the new Sportage. Am I missing something here? The IX was launched in the UK in March and obviously Hyundai have not kept up with demand for this vehicle. Before they launch the Kia surely they must honour the exisitng orders for the IX35.

I don't know if anybody attended their Hyundai dealerships earlier in May/June when Hyundai were asking children to hand in their old footballs and have them exchanged for an official World Cup football. I decided to take my daughter and neighbours son to my local dealer and was greated by friendly Hyundai staff. We handed in our footballs only to be told that Hyundai had ran out of World Cup footballs earlier in their promotion and they had to purchase a load of England footballs from JJB Sports. Typical! This poor marketing should have warned me about Hyundai. Anyway, I have sent an email to Hyundai yesterday and I look forward to receiving the usual corporate reply from them.

I've usually found that if a dealer is poor in the sales department (when they're supposed to be winning you as a customer) they'll be even worse at after-sales service (when they've got you). OK - there's a supply problem with this Hyundai, with too many customer orders for the factory to satisfy - but the dealers should know what is going on and keep the cusomers informed.

Pull out of the deal if you can and go for a Skoda Yeti or Ford Kuga or Nissan Qashqai.

If people did this then they would have the same problem...current lead times for yeti is 16-20 weeks, kuga 16 weeks and qashqai nissan plant say they dont expect new ordered delivered in 2010 but in 2011....and no stock of anything really unless a cancelled order that is built to spec for someone else...

A synic would suggest a deliberate ploy by manufacturers for keeping the prices high!!!

"...soon to be released Kia Sportage and that production of the IX35 has stopped temporarily due to the factory having to knock out the new Sportage..."

Was at my Kia dealer this afternoon having the brake cylinder on my cee'd replaced after the recall, and the demo Sportage was being delivered (also the Auris Hybrid - multi-franchise). Looks very impressive.

So this may be good news for pending iX35 buyers with the Kia launch run now complete. There again, probably Sportage orders will now be added to the queue!
Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Dickie212

Well I received a telephone call from Hyundai in relation to my email. The lady was apologetic stating that demand for the IX35 was outstripping supply and that the factory was working as hard as it could to meet the demand. She then stated that the Kia Sportage was a different vehicle by a different manufacturer and that my dealer was incorrect in stating that the IX35 has been stopped in order for KIA to produce the Sportage. She was also unable to give me any possible delivery dates for the IX35. Well I don't know what to think or who to believe. To say that demand is huge for this vehicle and it has been launched in the UK since March, where is it? I have only ever seen four on the roads in the North East. Are Hyundai sending the vehicles to the rest of Europe before the UK?

I have been a loyal Mazda customer over the years and am now wondering whether I have done the right thing. I will give Hyundai until then end of September then I will cancel the vehicle and look elsewhere. I could probably order and receive a hand built Aston Martin (if I could afford it) in less time than Hyundai will get me the IX35. I believe that Hyundai should be prepared to give all those people who have waited over th 14wks, 2 years free servicing. I won't hold my breath.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

Had an update off hyundai uk today. My car is due to be built either this week or next week, im still 2nd in the backlog queue. they say it should reach my dealer the end of september, but my dealer says end of october early november!!. I've had no joy with my £500 voucher request. how are others getting on with delivery. karl.

Got my 4WD premium (white) Saturday and so far I am very pleased with it. It looks great and drives really well, I'm just being very careful where and how I park as it's so much bigger than my previous car! I am also still working out how to use some of the gadgets and having problems with the voice recognition on my blue tooth, though I don't know whether that is my phone or the car system which is at fault! I am pleased to say I am glad that I waited, it was worth it.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - skiboy

Got a 2wd premium that was in show room and had media pack, seems to be a software prob with sat nav. When approaching round about to turn right says "turn left then" some larger roundabouts ok so only a small issue. Taking it into garage tomorrow as auto headlights do not work - may be sensor??

Hi

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - simplesi

Hi we have just taken del (Saturday) of a new Ix35 premium in Piston Grey with both packs using the hyundai affinity programme and saved c£3k off list price. My wife liked the one in the showroom and we took that. After less than 24 hrs and 26 mls on the clock the media centre packed up totally, no radio, no sat nav NADA! I contacted the garage but being on a Sunday nothing they could do then. Then it started working again later that day. Today Tuesday it has packed up again. When it was working my wife couldnt get the voice recognition to work either. Our Hyundai dealership have told us that Hyundai are aware of the fault and hoping to have a fix in the next couple of days!

hi how you ix35 hope it was worth the wait ? still not got my one

Hi I didnt wait as we took the one in the showroom.

However, now I wish I hadn't. It has been back twice with regards to the media centre. The centre works randomly i.e. we currently have no sat nav, bluetooth when it feels like it, no CD with my daughters CD stuck in it and it won't eject, reversing camera works, but the grid appears when it wants to, the radio works on occasions but then changes stations of it own accord.

It doesn't end there! When the salesman brought it back as they were aware of a few issues with the media centre (but needed the code at the back of it to order a new one!) the car wouldn't lock and the alarm kept going off. The salesman tried 5/6 times pressing the remote and opening and closing all the doors in turn, still the alarm kept going off. In the end he had to start the car and switch it off again and hey it locked!

But more concerning is that when my wife came home the following day with the children in the car, it would not allow her to get out or me to open the doors from outside. She frantically had to press the remote several times both the the doors released. The dealer is aware of the issue with the alarm and their other showroom car does the same. They have not responded to my email, with what I would call a serious safety issue, what would happen if they were in an accident and couldn't get out?

Having advised the dealer that we were considering rejecting the vehicle, I have just sent letters to all parties requesting a like for like replacement.

Be AWARE of these faults, Hyundai are also aware. They had the car last Thurs re the media centre and we still habe still not been contacted for a replacement date. With everything else, have had enough.

Not willing to risk the family safety!

As a gesture they did throw in some mats! As I was never offererd the opportunity to buy them in the first place. I think they were cheesed off as I bought my car through their affinity programme, They supply the cars to Norwich City, as a season ticket holder I took advantage of this and bought our 2wd premium with both packs for 18.7k.

HI ALL, I RECEIVED A LETTER OFFERING £500 OF ACCESSORIES BUT WHEN YOU TRY TO FIND THEM ON HYUNDAI'S WEBSITE THEY ARE NOWHERE TO BE SEEN! ANYONE BEEN ABLE TO FIND THEM? THIS IS REALLY STARTING TO BECOME A JOKE.

I got a spreadsheet from my dealer. It includes sill guards, car and boot mats, bodywork/style accessories, alarm upgrade, front parking sensor, boot organiser, towbars, bike carriers, European car kit, key ring and other bits and bobs. Get your dealer to e-mail some photos to show what some of the accessories look like. I have managed to spend all but about £75 of mine so far.

Hi, would anyone in the list above care to comment as to any progress in actually taking delivery of their IX35. I ordered a premium with media pack on 8th May, the most recent comment from the salesman was " Hopefully delivery will be the first week in September, hopefully" Getting really frustrated with any meaningful progress on a positive delivery date, any other comments on how satisfied those that have their IX35's are? Regards TRITON750

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Sheedy

I have been waiting since late May for a Premium 4wd with media pack. I was originally told middle of July, then end of August. Just had an update from the dealer and they now have no idea when the car will be built or delivered! They say it is Hyundai UK not passing on any information. They have not had delivery of any ix35's ordered after beginning of April and don't have dates for any more.

Apparently all of the dealers are now putting pressure on Hyundai UK to sort this ASAP because it is costing the dealers in reduced part-ex values and cancelled sales. I was told original part-ex values will be honoured and the £500 accessories should be offered to everyone after 16 weeks.

Hi am new to this forum

Ordered our IX 35 Style 2wd on 4th June

Contacted my local dealer yesterday and he seems to confirm the comments you have made. He is having a meeting with Hyundai tommorrow, I will phone him on Monday. Will let you know the result.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - howmuchlonga!

I phoned my H dealer yesterday and he stated that my order was still at the "waiting build" stage at the factory and couldn't confirm when the car will be built and delivered. He did say that Hyundai have been overwhelmed with 57,000 European orders and I estimate from some Googling that the plant can build 5-6,000 vehicles per month, this would also include the I20 and I30.

10 month wait...?????

Guess i was lucky as went in garage end of July and there was a silver premium model with media player sitting there so bought it. Found mudflaps on ebay. Had trouble getting auto headlights to work, took in to garage found they had to programme them to work as not set that way when launched so all ok now

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - colinh
If it's the same auto headlight unit as used on the Kia cee'd (likely as built in same factory), have found it isn't as quick-acting as some other makes. Coming through the 8 tunnels on our motorway this afternoon, gave up on auto and just switched them on and left them.

Hi Everyone new to this forum

we have also been waiting for our premium 4WD with both packs ordered 21st May, originally quoted 8 weeks for delivery then it went up to 31st july, given up asking the salesman at local hyundai showroom as he just tells you what he thinks you want to hear, a month ago he told us that it had been shipped from the factory(lie), then last week he told us that we were 13th on backlog, so i reckon we will be lucky to see this car before december, it is so frustrating when you keep getting fobbed off, even customer services dont tell you anything, I have never waited so long for a new car, last hyundai only took 6 weeks, so getting really hacked off withh hyundai now

I think you're a bit behind the times - ix35 4x4 premium 2.0 crdi UK OTR £20,745.00 = €25100 approx - price in Spain €31,990 plus road tax (varies with local council, probably up to €250)
Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

As you've probably read mine was ordered 14thmay 4wd and both pks. Dont know why Hyundai uk and my dealer are giving different dates?. Hyundai uk told me last last wk , the hold up is the 4x4 model's yet my dealer said its because i've ordered brown leather?.I think the main reason i've not cancelled is , they gave me a good deal on my bmw for px and i want to change the car anyway. If i cancel i have to start the whole process again and i doubt i'd achieve the px price i got off them in early may. I wonder if Hyundai uk will compensate the dealers as they must be losing a fortune in predicting px prices on such long delivery dates. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

Had another update today and been told its the 4wd version and brown leather , thats holding things up. Theres now no guarantee mine will arrive by the end of october!!. If i got it end of october it would be a 5 and a half month wait. If a 4wd version with media pk becomes available at my dealers, before this time i am going to grab it.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - TRITON750

HONEST JOHN IS OBVIOUSLY RIGHT ABOUT THE COMPARISON OF EUROPEAN AND BRITISH PRICES, I MUST BE LIVING IN A BYGONE AGE, SILLY OLD DEVIL. STILL AT 61 I MAY BE ALLOWED ONE OR TWO DISCREPANCIES.

I STILL THINK THAT HAVING WAITED OVER 15 WEEKS FOR DELIVERY OF A NEW CAR, STILL WITH NO CONFIRMED DELIVERY DATE, STILL WITH VERY LITTLE COMMUNICATION FROM THE DEALER THAT IT IS A LOT FOR A BUYER TO HAVE TO PUT UP WITH. IF THE CHAIN-CAM ENGINE IS IN SUCH SHORT SUPPLY IS THE FACTORY IN EUROPE AT A STAND STILL, WITH EVERYONE STOOD AROUND WAITING FOR ENGINES TO BE DELIVERED? SOMEHOW I HAVE DOUBTS ABOUT THAT.

HAVE THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE AN IX35 ON ORDER HAD A PROMISE FROM THEIR DEALERS THAT THEIR ORIGINAL DEAL WILL STILL BE HONOURED, BEARING IN MIND THE EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF TIME BETWEEN AGREEMENT AND ACTUALLY TAKING DELIVERY OF THEIR CAR?

REGARDS,

Hi Paul

Just wanted to say thank you for the excellent service and hospitality i received when i bought the ix35 in sirius silver with both packs you mentioned in your recent post from your dealership in Aylesbury,as i explained to you when we met, i ordered the ix35 premium in infra red with brown leather and both packs from my local dealer on july 25th only to be told my car may not be delivered before xmas,so i trawled the internet for any news regarding the car and the delay situation, found this discussion on the honest john website, saw your email, contacted you, cancelled my original order, and now i have the car i wanted albeit different colour but exactly the same spec, and all within 6 weeks, well chuffed.

Also really pleased with the car so far, drives superb, bluetooth, sat nav and all other bits and bobs working just fine.

Thanks again

Just an update, apparently all dealers are giving Hyundai stick over this delivery problem!

Ours is supposed to be in the country mid-September. For us to pick up start of October. We are not holding our breath!

Have told dealer if not with us by then we will cancel (19 weeks of waiting by then)

Like all of you on this site, getting fed up with Hyundai

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - ablandy

As the dates for these cars is slipping an slipping, something to remember - VAT goes up by 2.5% in January,

And VAT is charged on date of supply, not when you ordered it. Given the amount of slippage already, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that some of these cars could slip to January. So, if it is possible this may effect you, get it in writing now that the someone else if going to bear the cost. Its probably easier to get it done now while it seems an outside possibility rather than wait until it seems likely.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Avant

This is no help to those who have ordered an ix35, but for anyone thinking twice about one, last week's Autocar road test of the new Kia Sportage doesn't even include the Hyundai in its top five cars in the class, which are:

1 Kuga 2 Yeti 3 Sportage 4 Tiguan 5 Peugeot 3008.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Dutchie

The mind boggles wating all this time for a car to delivered unless i was absolutely desperate cancel and look for another car,Somebody got things well and truly wrong at Hyunda.I wonder if heads will roll.:)

OK dealer updated me today, i.e. NO update from Hyundai. He said that speaking to other dealers, June orders may not be received until January and that he couldn't guarantee that my May order would be received before Christmas. Besides the obvious VAT increase, when does that white fluffy stuff that we had so much of last year arrive?

I'm going to see him next week to get all my facts right before writing to Hyundai directly, I'm beginning to think that a Facebook campaign or trying to use the media to embarrass Hyundai is the only way that we'll all be able to get real answers. He more or less said that whilst they are being honest with their customers, Hyundai appear not to be being honest with them.

Anyway I'll let you know if anything happens. BTW , nice to see the press release on Tuesday ( www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/buying-and-selling/2010-...5 ) - you're going to buy used if you can't provide new !

Whilst I apprecaite your predicament, do you REALLY think that a "Facebook campaign" will actually embarrass this huge worldwide motor manufacturer. You have ordered a very high in demand car which gives incredible value for money. There are plenty of Vauxhall astras, zafiras, ford focus etc sat in fields un registered that no one wants!!!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - EazyIX35

Well because I embarassed Hyundai, I now have a direct contact at Hyundai customer services who'll I'll be keeping in contact with over the coming weeks.

The issue here is that no-one is being provided with the truth, just false promises. As the 4th largest car manufacturer, I would expect them to be in full control of their orders and their build schedule and to provide a reliable estimated build date.

Finally, I see that today is the first time that you've posted on the forums and from the content, I'm guessing that you are either an Hyundai dealer or work for Hyundai.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Dickie212
Well I've been told today by my dealer that my car is in the UK and I will receive it on 1st September. I ordered the IX35 Premium 4x4 with media pack back in April. I notice that some members have stated that their dealerships are honouring the px price given at time of order. My dealer unfortunately is giving me a new px price based on August Glass's guide, some £1000 less. Do I have a right to push for the original px price?
Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - ablandy

Not sure about rights (perhaps post in legal and Lucy can comment) but definitely push for it.

The only problem is the dealer knows these cars are in demand, so he may know he has you over a barrel. You cant go anywhere else to get it anytime soon.

As always go into the dealership and discuss it calmly but loudly. Make sure dealership is busy before discussing. Some say this can be quite effective.

But as someone will probably pay list price the next day, good luck!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Avant

I sympathise with everyone's frustration, but is there any easy answer to a situation where there are more cars ordered than the factory has the capability to produce?

There may well be some limiting factor (e.g. shortage of components or of skilled labour or simply the size of the assembly line) which makes it impossible to produce any more of this particular engine (see HJ's post above) any faster.

Edited by Avant on 19/08/2010 at 22:25

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Sheedy

I think the easy answer is for Hyundai to be honest with everyone, including the dealers, and let us know what the problem is. It cannot be difficult for them to work out when a car will be built even if they are having problems with some parts.

My latest update is that the dealers are not being informed of planned build dates, they are being informed by Hyundai only when the car is off the production line and ready for shipping. This only gives about 2-3 weeks notice of a delivery date. It does appear more cars are starting to come through. My order from end of May is now quoted as end of September , or 'at any time before or after that', which I had already worked out myself!

The dealer also said the Czech Republic plant is now also producing the ix35, can anyone confirm this?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

Been told today i will be getting the £500 compensation voucher, but the bad news is i'm no nearer to a delivery date. karl.

Hi I was old by my dealer that they have only made One premium 4x4 since july and that they stopped production to make the new kia sportage, I have been advised that they can make a car in four days, so hopefully they will get some out very soon. Back in july I was backorder 28 and was told I may get it september late october. I will keep my fingers crossed
Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - oui1313

Ordered my white Premium with media pack during early July...Dealer would not take any deposit stating that a number of customers had ordered and cancelled due to excessive delivery dates since the IX35 had been out...so there was no point...!

Re- visited recently and was told delivery would be end of September..However having discovered this forum I'm not so optimistic...!

Seems to be a massive lack of liaison between manufacturer, dealer and customer.

Such a shame that this obvious miscalculation of delivery dates is taking the shine off purcasing what is a very good vehicle.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - EazyIX35

It seems like we are all in limbo. I received a call from Hyundai last week stating I was back order 4 out of 63, when I placed the order in May I was 9 and 3 weeks ago I was 7 !. The back order number must be dealer specific as my dealer said the reason why I'd moved up the list was not because they were building cars but that people ahead of me were cancelling orders.

In 2 weeks time I should qualify for the infamous £500 credit (which should pay for my front parking sensors at £350!). However I'll also be chasing Hyundai regularly until I receive the car or they lose my order.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Sheedy

This is the first time I have purchased a Hyundai and I am now getting more frustrated with the dealer - they won't return calls, constant lies about delivery dates - such ignorant people to deal with. Spending over 20K on a car I expect much better service than this. 13 weeks since ordering and still no news on a build date.

The question that keeps going through my head is do I want to deal with them and Hyundai for the next 5 years? At the moment definitely not, and I am starting to look elsewhere.

I know the ix35 is still the best car for me at the moment, but the service is so bad I no longer think it is worth it. Another couple of weeks like this and I am sure a lot of other people will feel the same.

HAD A TEST DRIVE IN THE NEW SPORTAGE LAST WEEKEND. NICE CAR. I WAS INFORMED BY THE SALESMAN THAT 800 HAD BEEN BROUGHT INTO THE COUNTRY, ALL 4WD, COULD IT BE THAT THE SUPPOSED SHORTAGE OF 4WD UNITS HAS BEEN BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN USED TO MANUFACTURE THESE SPORTAGE'S. ENTERING THE 16th WEEK NOW.

THE LAST WORD FROM THE SALESMAN WAS THAT DELIVERY WOULD DEFINATLY BE IN SEPTEMBER, UNFORTUNATELY HE DID NOT STATE THAT IT WAS SEPTEMBER 2010, BEGINNING TO BELIEVE HE COULD MEAN SEPTEMBER 2011.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - TRITON750

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - CarFriend

Hyundai do have a problem with the IX35 with long delivery dates. Mainly due to the fact that it is such a good car, great value for money and in huge demand. In todays car world, all manufacturers are quoting ever lengthening delivery dates. This is partially due to the credit crunch of the last 2 years which prevented manufacturers from building stock for sale, and going to build to order instead, so there is not the well publicised "fields full" of new cars awaiting customers. This also helps to reduce costs to the manufacturer with less compound space and stocking interest charges.

The long delivery dates are not just Hyundai and the IX35..These are the same with Nissan on the Qashqai-lucky to see one this year if ordered now and they are made in the UK!...Ford kuga--16 weeks if lucky..Skoda Yeti..16 weeks if lucky unless DSG (auto) looking at 20 weeks...Skoda superb estate--20 weeks!!!..Audi A3 20 weeks factory order...Audi Q5 and Q7...may/june 2011 !!!

There are however loads of cars such as ford focus, fiesta and other manufacturers where there are loads of cars available for immediate delivery, but no one wants these cars and the long delivery times are driven by consumer demand for new products that offer great value for money.

So, whilst people appreciate your predicament that you are waiting a long time for your cars, it is the consumers choice of vehicle that puts this in such high demand so you have ordered a very popular vehicle that is great value for money and should have a significantly high resale value.

I hope that you all get your cars really soon and that they are worth their wait!!!

It isnt your dealers fault that the cars are taking so long to arrive, so they shouldnt have to fund the depreciation of the second hand car. I would imagine that you have had use of the vehicle since you agreed to purchase the IX35 so therefore you have had value. The other thing to have done would be to simply take the car to the dealership and let them buy it off you. That way you wouldnt have a lower PX figure but in the same instance you wouldnt have the use of the car. It works both ways. Hope you get your IX35 soon, fantastic car fantastic value for money!

My Hyundai dealer stopped taking my calls so I contacted Hyundai UK. They said my ix35 Premium 4wd with media pack ordered end of May wont be built until November at the earliest due to problems with supply of parts to the factory. That would mean delivery by Christmas would be almost impossible even if it wasn't delayed anymore.

Considering the worst service I have ever had from a car dealer I decided I could wait no more. I have therefore bought a Mitsubishi ASX that was in stock at the local dealer and take delivery on 1st September.

Good luck to anyone waiting for an ix35, but if you have ordered after April I would expect a very long wait well into 2011.

Hi, I will finally receive my IX35 on Wednesday 1st September. Went down to dealership today to check vehicle was as per ordered and it was. Unfortunately the delay appears to be with all IX35's not just 4x4. I ordered mine in April and it is the only one which my dealer has received for the 1st September. I haven't received any offers of £500 from Hyundai but am just pleased to be finally getting the car.

I hope everyone gets their vehicles shortly.

Hi Barabbas,

I got my car from SGPetch in Darlington, Co Durham. Excellent garage/dealer. I must say to all you people waiting for the IX35, it's well worth the wait. Please don't be tempted to cancel and choose a different vehicle. In the long run you would be disappointed you changed. I am so impressed with the car and it does so much. I purchased the 4wd Premium in machine silver with the Media Pack. This pack is excellent value for money. The only issue I have with it so far is that it would appear you need to have the radio on in order to use the sat nav. Sometimes it would be nice just to be able to have the sat nav running without the radio blaring. I could be doing something wrong of course. Hang in there guys, you'll soon get yours.

Hi Barabbas
I ordered my IX35 premium 4wd in Black with media pack from Evanshalshaw in Gateshead in mid May. According to Hyundai customer services the current estimate is late September\early October. But given that they still don't know the build date, I think this is just a tactic to try and stop me from canceling my order. I hope that you do pick up your car by the end of this month but if you do, you'll be one of the lucky ones. regards eazyix35

Hi Barabbas,

All I can say is that you will love it! I've had many new cars like Mazda's etc, all good cars but I must admit that this one is brilliant. Went to Scotland at the weekend to get some miles on it, and the whole driving experience was brilliant. Hardly had to change gear. The eco indicator had me changing gear into 6th at 40mph. Brilliant.

Hi Folks,

Just came across this discussion.

Are ix35s turning up yet? I ordered mine (Premium, 4WD, Red, Media Pack) 16 weeks ago on the initial promise of 8-10 weeks. I had a email from Sales main today @ SimonStone saying that the delays have meant that H will have May deliveries out to dealers in very late Sept.

Are people finding px prices being quibbled over or is that an isolated case?

How about the £500 compo - Is that for real?

Hi, you have been waiting an identical time to me, also waiting for 4wd sirus, with both pks. Mine is due late october to early november, i'm told its because i've gone for the brown leather!!. my dealer has told me he has secured the £500 worth of parts which can be fitted when it arrives. Dont know what i'll spend it on yet as the premium has pretty much everything fitted already. Has anyone got an ix35 with the brown leather yet?. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - itaylort

Hi all, just to update you from my suuprise phone call from my dealer telling me our 2 whl drive premium is now in country.

Not bad as we only ordered it 2 weeks ago. I'll see what arrives as he doent have any further info than that.

Had some good and bad news from the dealers today; if i want the origonal car with brown leather, theres a further delay till end of december at earliest and poss till jan or feb 2011!!. The good news is they have a 4wd in casa white premium with media pk and full black leather, which has been built and is in transit as we speak. we have visited dealer today and put our name on it and expect delivery, end of this month or thereabouts!. we saw there standard spec demo in casa white and i've got to say it looked stunning. karl.

Enough is enough, cancelled my IX35 last Wednesday after waiting 17wks and still with no firm delivery date. Bought a Honda CR-V, delivery 9th September ie: 10 days delivery inclusive of accessories. There is an IX35 in Sirius Silver with Media pack and 17wks waiting already done possibly available soonish at Trinity Motors, Hinckley, phone Mick.

All the best to people that are waiting an extraordinary amount of time for their IX.

Hello Just saw this forum.

Made me think when and if my car going to come this year. I have ordered a Hyundai iX35 2.0 CRDi Premium 4wd + Media Pack and Metallic Machine Silver, placed my order on the 5 July, my dealer told me that the car will be with me by 1-3 September but then changed it to 15th and now the 3rd week.

I have already lost £500+ on my px car and my sales guy is good but not ready to stick to the first px price given.

Going to phone CS tomorrow and get a delivery date off them.

Hi watwy

Good luck with customer services, to date they won't give be a build date and I've had my order with them since mid May (it will be 16 wks on Wednesday). Apparently the UK exec's went to Korea to talk about the situation and were promised about an extra 80 cars to the UK each month, not that that's going to make any difference!.

Try and find out your back order number as this will tell you where you are in your combination of car, apparently they biuld each combination in batches of 12 so that will help. That said I'm no.4 for a right hand drive, IX35, 2.0 Diesel, 4wd, Black and media pack, I was No.9 when I first ordered so that means they haven't biult my combination yet! (I'm only a lower number because those ahead have cancelled their order).

Let us know how you get on.

Just thought you'd like to know a better news story. Ordered my Premium 4WD with individual pack on 27th May following agreeing a PX on 20th. Wanted Sept 1 registration. Car arrived in UK in the third week of August, at the dealer's on 24th and valeted and delivered on time. Original PX honoured. Don't blame the dealer - I was told that apart from a holiday shut down at the start of August, the priority this summer has been to get enough Kia Sportage to the dealers.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - bce

That's great news - MInd must be close now then as I ordered a 4WD Premium with media pack in mid May and have a date for end of sept delivery.

Just wondering if anyone who had to redo their PX has looked into the legality of this. I suspect most dealers use the same T&Cs.

I think the dealers must have been keeping all the cars stashed away in a field somewhere as after 4 months of not seeing one on the roads, I saw 3 in one day yesterday !

I hope they don't become too common, I've quite enjoyed the exclusivity of mine for the past 4 months !

I think I got in just at the right time, just after launch. Tracked down a dealer with a Premium in White and we did the deal there and then on the phone. Never even got to sit in one before I picked it up a week later.

It's early days yet - had the car for a week. So far no issues at all - mainly town journeys plus one longer run and averaging 42.1 mpg after 225 miles. No rattles or squeaks. Pays to read the manual twice as the kit spec is awesome.

I've had my IX35 for a week now and love it. However I'm am also trying to get the Hill Start Assist to work and also I can't get the "Follow me home Headlights to work". I've pressed and held the open button on the smart key but it doesn't work. One annoying feature I have found with the media pack is that when the engine is switched off, the radio turns itself off after 10 minutes. Annoying as I like to have the radio on when washing the car. I'm sure there are answers to these issues. Excellent car though.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - webskaren

Haven't got the hill assist to work yet but have solved the 'follow me home headlights'. You need to use the automatic headlights function and the follow me home works every time you stop when it is dark. I hung around the first few times to make sure they went off but have got used to them now.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - itaylort

Hi,

Had ours about 2 months now and did find you need to push the brake pedal down alot further than you think to get the hill start to kick in and hold. The normal pressure on the pedal you place on the brake doesnt seem to activate it. Try pushing it harder almost as far as you can then it will hod when you let go. Mine does hold on any hill no matter how shallow.

Hope this helps

My 2WD Premium with Media Pack is brilliant. Supplied in Southampton on 12 July I have driven 3500 miles (through France and down to Corsica) recently. Saw 3 on French motorway (all French) and an entire transporter of about 10 in Montpellier (all Left Hand Drive I'm afraid so no point in hijacking lorry for all of you waiting for them in UK!)

It's a fantastic car - absolutely no problems whatsoever (touching wood as I type!)

Great service from Steve Joyve at Richmond. Took car back for a minor issue pointed out at delivery and when I returned car had been re-valeted so looks like new again - great as front was encrusted with French wasps and a variety of other insects.

The hill start assist does work as long as the hill is steep enough. No need to pull hand brake - car holds automatically.

SatNav good but as others have said - doesn't allow complete UK postcodes. Also found time to destination woefully inaccurate. Downloading from navigation.com onto a memory stick allows updates and 'more benefits' (haven't worked out what they are yet!)

Glad to answer any questions having driven the car for the past few weeks and on a long trip that included 700 miles in a day from Ma***ille to Normandy (apart from will I sell it to you!)

My advice is - if you can wait - do so. It's a superb car. Also enjoying the exclusivity at the moment. Don't see any others on the road.

PH,

Is the radio in the Media Pack a DAB radio or plain old FM/MW?

Cheers

Brian

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - ph1963

It's just FM/AM but a good sound and reception in the south. Big extra speaker in the boot that I think comes with the media pack makes a difference.

PH

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - bce

Hi PH,

Thanks for reply - Found the manual on navigation.com/hyundai yesterday and was a tad disappointed ot's not DAB. A little short sighted of Hyundai given the wealth of good technology in Korea.

Never mind !!

The Post Code problem in the SatNav is a bit silly too. Knowing Long/Lat or having to type the full address is just plain daft.

Should have my ix35 in very early Oct so look forward to playing with all the Bells and Whistles.

B

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - ph1963

B
Totally agree on both counts regarding the SatNav - who would ever need to put latitude and longitude into it?

I am also having a difficulty downloading an update through a memory stick from navigation.com/hyundai (through the dealership) as the SatNav keeps telling me the memory stick is empty even though it clearly has the upgrade on it when it's in my computer and I've followed the instructions on the site to the letter! Needs more time spent on it no doubt.

Apart from that, the whole module (Bluetooth, SatNav, Radio, CD, iPod, reversing camera etc) all do exactly what it says on the tin.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your car - it'll be worth it!

Peter

Found this little quote on the cars.uk.msn site:

"The update ran automatically, or at least it did the second time after we'd shifted a few files out of their folder on the USB stick. 20 minutes later we had the system updated to version 4.5.7.2. Traffic information seems to work fine now, but that's the only difference we could detect."

I was wondering if you only need the files/folders from the "Storage Card" folder and place them in the "root" of your Flash disk.

I too have been following this thread. Ordered premiuim 4x4 both packs in early May. Like so many others was told to expect delivery in July,, then August, then September before finally phoning the headquarters to be told that at best I was looking at November/December. I enquired about the £500 compensation to be told that they did not want to offer me compensation just yet as they did not know how long I would be waiting and I might be in line for even more!

I took the hint, cut my losses and got back my £1000 and now have another nice new car.

However, there is hope as I work in Dover and the last few days I have seen four lorries full of ix35s entering the country - so hopefully for some the wait will be over!

Didn't know they were using Dover to bring the ix35 into the country. Mine certainly came through Tilbury as I saw and photographed the bar code sticker they presumably use to track vehicles stuck to the driver's window when it arrived at the dealership and it was marked TILBURY in large capitals. Maybe the short hop across the channel means the cars may get through to dealers quicker.

So glad I cancelled the ix35 and got the Mitsubishi ASX. The engine is amazing - so much more powerfull than the ix35 and it pulls strong in any gear. It handles and rides really nice and has a load of kit for the money, although most of it is not obvious if you just have a quick look in the dealer.

Having done 600 miles already I can see how HJ got 55mpg in his road test - 60-65mpg is easily achieavable even on short runs. It seems the ix35 is struggling to get above 40mpg.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

Hi, glad your pleased with the mitsubishi i've owned shoguns in the past and they are good cars. However i looked at an ASX, and personally i dont think it comes close to the ix35 for looks and build quality. The 2 litre desiel in the ix 35 is very powerfull in its own right. The biggest killer for Hyundai at the moment is the sheer amount of disgruntled customers, due to slow delivery of this car. Hopefully now i'm on on track for delivery the end of september. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - EazyIX35
Earlier this week I was told by customer services that they had just put in place 'procedures' to ensure that earlier orders were completed but I wasn't given any details. It seems as if orders placed in late April are now being fulfilled, so I'm hoping that it won't be too long i.e. within another 6 weeks, before I get my car.

Hi,

I'm currently looking at IX35 / Qashqai / Sportage. Possibly an ASX too.

Does anyone know when the new 1.7 Diesel IX35 will be available? Apparently it will have stop/start etc so show show an improvement over the MPG issues at the top of this thread.

Not sure if they will do it in 4WD or just 2WD though? Any help appreciated!

Thanks

Yes, we have come to that conclusion!

Speaking to a dealer today and apparently all the 'stock' ix35's they have ordered are being cancelled by Hyundai to honour customers orders as the delays are so bad.

Best idea is to take anything they have on the show room floor and phone around dealers to see if they have the spec you want.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Ellie65

Well we are sick of all the waiting and the excuses now, last call from customer service said that we were still number 12 in backlog and that has been the same for last 6 weeks, think she was being over optimistic when she said it would be here by october! If we had been told when we ordered the car that we would have to wait over 6 months for the car we would have walked away then, i think we will be lucky to see it in January at this rate, just in time for the VAT hike. So off to the dealer to cancel as we have decided to buy a mitsubishi outlander and we can pick it up next week, good luck to all who are sticking it out and i hope you see your new car very soon

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

I've been waiting over 4 months , so i really hope my delivery date of the end of this month is correct!!. the dealer has put my private plate onto retention and another number will be screwed onto our present car today. Hopfully this is a sign things are moving along. If our ix35 comes on time it will be as good as 5 months wait, from order to delivery. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - EazyIX35

Hi eddieh,

If I understand your message, you're saying that any cars that dealers have placed where the order has been cancelled by the customer, are being put into a general pool to fulfil other orders rather than just being delivered to the dealer for them to sell themselves. If so, this maybe the 'procedure' that customer services said last week had been put in place to fulfil early orders. Unfortunately it still doesn't help me but will help others :)

Hello,

I spoke to Hyundai yesterday to get an update on the situation with delayed ix35 deliveries. We've just published the update here.

We've also invited Hyundai to take part in a Live Questions and Answers session with Back Room members to discuss the issue - possibly during one lunchtime in the coming week - which they have agreed to. Is this something that would be of interest to you? Let me know and I'll set it up.

Dan

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - EazyIX35

Dan

I would be interested in a Q&A session (assuming my companies internet policy will allow me to do so).

I've just read your interview with Mr Whitehorn which just made me fume with anger even more. So what he's saying is that they have 'stopped' production for a period of time to produce the 1.7-litre diesel, and these are being offered to those with 2.0-litre diesel orders!!!. If we wanted the 2.0-litre then thats what we would have waited for.

I, and probably alot of other users of the forum, would be grateful if you could go back and ask him how Hyundai manage the schedule for the production of cars with the orders that they've received as Hyundai Customer services are saying that the factory cannot give a build date. I would like to do this myself but you're much more likely to get a response then me. The factory in Slovakia is supposed to be one of the most advanced in the world with 50%+ of the initial work done by robots, I'm assuming that someone, somewhere, tellls them what to produce!.

end of rant....but would you please consider going back to Mr Whitehorn, thank you in advance for any assistance :)

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - HJ Editor

Hello,

Sorry if I didn't make it clear, but it's an engine supply issue. The reason that there's a waiting list is because they can't get enough 2.0-litre diesel engines from Korea to the ix35 factory in the Czech Republic.

The 1.7-litre engine is built in a different factory and then shipped to the Czech Republic. It has only just come on stream - the ix35 (and then new Kia Sportage - essentially the same car) will be the first car to get it. There's no issue of production of 2.0-litre models being stopped to produce 1.7-litres. They will be built together, but with a larger supply of 1.7-litre engines on offer and not such a large backlog of orders, these will be in more plentiful supply. No engines are built at the factory in the Czech Republic.

He's only suggesting that you may want to consider swapping to a 1.7-litre if it suits your circumstances. Many people would not have has the option of it previously as it's always been slated for a late 2010 launch and may actually prefer the cheaper 1.7-litre.

If we can run a Q&A with Hyundai and Back Room member, hopefully some of these questions will be cleared up once and for all.

There's a strange situation in Spain re: the ix35/Sportage. The latter has gone on sale but not officially launched and already Kia are offering manufacturer's discounts of 1,500 € (2.0 Diesel) & 1,100 € (1.7 Diesel y 1.6 Petrol). Meanwhile, the ix35 is the only Hyundai model without a discount.

Given the supply shortage for the ix35, one would assume they would delay discounts for the Sportage until things settled.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - BARABBAS

Hi I would be interested in the Questions and Answers session to see what kind of assurances Hyundai are going to give to customers who have orderd this vehicle in good faith with regards to the p/x made with the dealers who at the time were quoting 12 weeks delivery and the looming hike in VAT.as a loyal Hyundai customer I do hope that they will honour all deals made to date.

Hi Dan,

I think a discussion would be worth while if just to clarify the compensation scheme and when it kicks in. Lunchtime might be the only problem for many who can't get internet access during the day.

As for me, I ordered in early May (yes 2010) and have just been given my THIRD build date of this Friday coming (17th Sept). With three weeks being allowed for shippment, I do HOPE to see this car by week two of October.

BUT, I've been let down before so who's to tell !!??

Also, whilst my Dealer tells me I'm gonna get the compo £500 on accessories, I've heard nothing from Hyundai themselves.

Hyundai ix35 delayed deliveries - potential Q and A session with Hyundai - HurryUp&Wait

Hi,

Just joined from another forum, where the discussion is almost the same as on here!

Ordered an ix35 2.0CRDi 5DR 4WD Premium (no packs) in InfraRed on 2nd April (day after April Fools day) from Verve Kilmarnock (Ayrshire) having been advised that delivery would be 6-10 weeks, more likely 8-10. Still waiting, with no information from the dealer about a firm delivery date - "HurryUp&Wait"! Any information from the man from Hyundai UK would be good - failing that I guess the man from Del Monte might be able to advise on pineapple.

Only reason for waiting nearly 6months is that I am trading in two cars, with values locked in/agreed almost 6months ago. I've also accepted H-UK's written offer of £500 accessories.

Hello

Well after lurking around for some time, I thought I would contribute to filling up your servers.

I ordered mine in mid july ( (2L premier 4WD + media pack) and would like to know what the actual delay is, ie what are the dates for the orders that Hyundai are delivering now,.

Thanks HJ for taking note of this forum, and trying to get some information from Hyundai for us all.

Gazzer

PS. A transcript of the Q & A would be good for those that miss the event.

Hyundai ix35 delayed deliveries - potential Q and A session with Hyundai - HurryUp&Wait

Indeed - thanks HJ

Can anyone explain why Hyundai dealers such as the one in the previous post are still accepting orders, when they know they can't deliver them in the "agreed timescale"? One for the man from Hyundai UK to answer, although he may say that the dealerships are nothing to do with him...

Hyundai ix35 delayed deliveries - potential Q and A session with Hyundai - Howmuchlonger?

Hi all. Have just joined this forum as I too am waiting for the IX35 4WD with Media Pack. I ordered this on 13th May and was originally told an estimated stock date of 1st Sept. I thought at the time this was a long wait, as when I originally test drove one at my local dealer, they said it would be a few weeks. This then changed to 21st Sept and now it's 3rd Oct.

I've ordered this as a company car through the leasing company they use and I'm wondering if I'll still be entitled to £500 worth of accessories? Obviously they won't have written to me directly as going through the leasing company. Also, the dealer the lease co use is apparantely in the Stoke on Trent area so I can't even contact them directly as I don't have the name, and it's not local to me as I live in Bristol.

Unfortunately I'm paying for a hire car as my last company car was stolen end of April and subsequently smashed up. I can't get away with not having a car whilst I wait as I'm in sales and cover the whole of South Wales and the South West. The small compensation would go some way to making me feel better about this whole palarva!

PS. The last update from the dealer via the lease co, is that the order status is showing 'awaiting VIN identification'. I'm hoping that this means my car has actually has an engine, but probably not!!

OMG I wish I had found this forum before I ordered my ix35 (2.0CRDi 4WD Premium, Black, no packs) in early July. I was told at the time of ordering (through 'new car 4 me' - and I have no gripe with them) that the dealer was quoting early -mid Sept. This was fine - my current car (a personally leased new shape CRV) - is due back 30th Sept.

I went and signed paperwork for the finance last week, and asked for an update, which on all past updates has been mid - end Sept. Today I am now told there is a problem - this is the email the Hyundai dealer sent to my contact at NC4M):

As per our conversation please see below comments from Hyundai.

We are able to offer your client a lead in vehicle until 22nd December at a cost, details of which are below:

Reg No: ET59FJF
Model: i30(2010) Edition CRDi 1600 D 5Dr H/Back 6sp
Demo Period: From 06/09/2010 to 21/12/2010
Costs £200.00 + VAT
Mileage allowance of 1500 miles pcm Excess = £0.20ppm
Will need driving licences, full current name address and contact number and a rental agreement will be required to signThe Client will nedd to insure the vehicle.

The IX35 problem isn't limited to yourselves and we have dealers and retail customers screaming blue murder.

We have been trying to get more cars out of the factory, but it appears
that Europe-wide and US demand has far outstripped supply, and the factory
just can't produce enough vehicles. The actual blockage appears to be the
2.0 diesel engine being constrained, and we hope that when the new 1.6
petrol and 1.7 diesel come out very late this year, then we will have a
greater supply volume. Until then, it is difficult if not impossible for us to estimate delivery dates, which is some cases could be well over 6 months.
On the current stauts the vehicle you mention is due to doc in December,

My failing was in not realising sooner that this problem was so serious,
and I should have advised you then, and for this I apologise.

But hey guys its fine - they are offering me a small hatchback (at my cost) LOL

I cannot even begin to tell you how cross I am - I am going to be car less in 2 weeks!!

oooh, I do feel a bit better for having a rant :) thanks for listening!!!

A few months ago i went to look at a ix35 and told dealer i was looking to swap early next year.Last week he rang to ask me to have a drive in their demo and when i asked about availability he said they had cars coming through until i pointed out about this thread then he admitted there were probs.Fancy a new modle Sportage to be honest but as this is the same car under the skin i wonder if there will be as many threads as there are with this one.Good job i'm not in a hurry and can afford to wait.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - D a v e

ix35 4WD Prem + media pack ordered during the early part of July with the order form quoting an estimated delivery date of 1st Sept. A week after it was supposed to be delivered I get a call saying my call will not be ready in time! and that delivery will now be at the end of October which makes it 16 weeks from date of order. When pressed the salesman at the dealers claimed to be in DIRECT weekly contact with the factory though he could offer no indication of when my car might actually get built or offer any clue to the nature of the delay. He also promised to call me weekly with progress reports though I’m guessing that because there have been no such calls there is no progress!

The novelty and anticipation value of getting a shiny new motor has mostly worn off. In hindsight and now armed with the information contained on forums like this it’s plain to see the delivery dates being handed out haven’t a hope of being met. From the length of time some folk have waited I've no reason to suspect my car will turn up this side of Christmas.

Like others, I ordered in good faith with there being no mention of vehicle supply problems. In return I’m locked into a trade in deal with deposit money paid and no reliable sign of when delivery might occur, coupled with (and putting it very politely) “very tall stories” of the salesman’s hotline to the factory.

In my opinion not a very promising introduction to the Hyundai experience!!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - websharon

We ordered our ix35 on the 16th of June prem 4wd white with no extras, orginally given a date of June, then Sept. I visited the dealership on Monday 13th Sept , they telephoned Hyundai to be told that they were working on May orders and that our back order was 24 out of 87 for June and the car should be with the dealership at the end of October. The dealer also checked a car same spec which had been odered on the 14th of June and its back order number was 20. The dealer has indicated that they will hold the price arranged in June for the trade in.

While reviewing the latest update from Honest John it was interesting thet Hyundai will offer the 1.7 crdi and customers can change their order, the info is not available on hhyundai's web site, i.e. price, co2, tow capacity and model i.e. style / prem etc. We are deciding what option to0 go for but I think the dealer will then change the price of the trade in.

I also checked with Ford and the Kuga, it appears that Lyndsay Ford placed an order for 15 Kuga's on nthe 20th of June, the build date is scheduled for the 21st of Sept with Delivery end of Oct / beginning of November so maybe Hyundai are not as bad as we think.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

What you;ve said ties in with what i heard recently. mine also white premium 4wd, but with both pks is due for delivery end o this month, everything crossed!!. I would definatly not compromise and go for the 1.7crdi as the size of the ix35 needs the 2 litre to make it more enjoyable to drive. I would imagine most sold with the smaller engine will go to big fleet companies watching the pennies. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - fitlike

well the car has arived. pick it up saturday ordered 11th april 2010. premium 4x4 in black . has to go back in to get accessories fitted .

Hello all

A bit of weekend reading to show us all what we are missing

http://cars.uk.msn.com/reviews/articles.aspx?cp-documentid=154635605

I find the MPG figures interesting. It would be good to hear from the lucky ones if they are experiencing the same performance.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - jojo1971

I have finance already arranged, and am not relying on px, so decided to phone a couple of local dealers to see fi they had any ix35's available (having got very excited that one dealer was quoting the exact model I had ordered!). That one had gone - but I have found 2 diesel 2WD premiums - one with media pack and one with both packs. So do I compromise on wanting 4WD - or go for it? Am test driving a Mitsubishi ASX tomorrow, for which I am assured delivery is early October. Decisions........

(my order is a diesel 4WD premium with no packs)

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - michaelpaul

Hi, having waited over 5 months still with no promise of an exact date for delivery of an IX35 Premium 4WD with Media Pack, I today cancelled that order and placed an order for a Mitsubishi ASX 4 2WD which is due to be delivered 2nd week in October! Even with all the extras you get with the Premium IX35 such as panoramic sunroof and cool glove box etc I feel the ASX gives much more road presence and will apparently give you much more MPG.

The overall build quality of the ASX seems much better, the body work sportier, and more up to date than the IX35 and I wish I had known about this car when it was launched back in July because I would have happily cancelled the IX35 order back then when I had already felt the worst of the Hyundai 'experience'!

Hyundai took away all the excitement of ordering a new car for the first time and having been a Hyundai customer for three years I can honestly say their customer service has been very dissapointing indeed. Thanks to the Mitsubishi dealer they have re-instated my excitement and I am pleased to be able to tell Hyundai that they have lost my custom indefinately!!!!!!!!!

Best of luck to all who are still waiting for an IX35, I will keep checking on here to see how you all get on but if you are as sick of waiting as I was then I definately recommend a test drive of the Mitsubisih ASX - I promise you will not be dissapointed.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - colinh
Kia UK haven't done you a favour - pricing for the Sportage has been released:

Sportage 2.0 CRDi KX-3 Sat Nav AWD Auto £26,170.00

As opposed to Hyundai ix35 Premium 2.0 CRDi 5dr 4WD Auto with both packs £23,595.00

Seems to be a reversal of the normal Hyundai v Kia pricing. Demand for ix35 will increase. Alternatively, a rapid repricing exercise by Hyundai shortly
Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - jojo1971

I have tired of waiting (and can't wait as my current lease car goes end of this month), so did go and test drive the Mitsubishi ASX this morning - and bought it on the spot! , Highly recommend this car - as someone else has done earlier up this thread - I have the ASX3 coming, as I don't particularly want / need the sat nav, leather seats etc - and this means I can have delivery in 10 days time! If you can get one before 1st Oct, there is £1k off the price as it is currently on introductory price.

So there will be a black diesel Premium 4WD (no packs) available for possibly December, but probably not having read these threads, if anyone would like it!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - stillwaitting

Glad to hear the cars do exist!! Being to think they were a myth. Think I must be one ot the longest delivery times yet. Ordered my 4x4 premium (no extra packs) in grey the week end of launch 28 March 2010. Was advised by garage delivery april/ may at latest. At end of April approached contact them to be told delay would be June. Rang Hyundai direct who confirmed build date middle June. June came and went with new build date for mid July. Planned holiday using this car but guess what not built!!. Contacted Hyundai again - would be at garage for end aug, great could pick it up on my return, not the case. After a discussion with head of customer concerns advised build date 17 September Del 8/9 Oct (which year still not sure) which if finally arrives will be 28 weeks from order. I have had no direct contact from Hyundai regarding the delays,no letter to offer £500 of extras only a verbal message from dealer. Looked at the the list of what was available and nothing really of great interest as the car has every thing that i need thats why I ordered it. Rang Hyundai yesterday to see if it had been built as advised to be told they cannot contact the factory in Japan to confrim and will have to speak to dealer next week - the car is not even being built in Japan!! Ho sorry my mistake was the comment from the advisor when i pointed this out. Fingers Toes and everything else crossed, if it doesn't appear from this build date i think i will cancel and keep my tucson unitl after the winter and look to pick up one next year.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - ukbeefy

As Hyundai is a Korean company I'd be somewhat surprised as to why they're building cars in Japan.......Korea is more likely.

I do find it somewhat bizarre that Hyundai's UK operation cannot actually contact their factory...does it not have telephones or IT links? You do wonder if they think customers are really that simple that they'd swallow the "we can't contact our own factory" line...

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - howmuchlonga!

This is a complete and utter shambles, how many have you seen on the road? I've seen 2 since March.....!!

Now looking at a Freelander HSE and only 6 weeks lead time.

I ordered my premium 4wd with media pack 17th April, still have no date, I think Hyundai are taking the p#ss out of the UK buyers. maybe it's because we are all "too british" about the situation?,

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - babygrumplin

Actually got my Premium white 2.0d 4wd with media pack today, well chuffed (despite the wait since April 17th) car drives lovely and looks great, I do approx 70 miles per day so will monitor the mpg closely

Wrote to Hyundai a few weeks back, got no reply....rubbish

took part in the online chat, that was rubbish too, if Tony Whitehorn expected to make customers feel better.........................he didn't

My dealer had 2 weeks notice re the free extras I wanted.........got to go back to get some fitted, apparently he couldn't order them until the car was in..........that's rubbish too

Dealer says they are not taking any more orders for the 2.0d???

those of you waiting, hope you get yours soon?

The live chat is good if people can spare the time during lunchhour. I can not as i have a very busy business to run. I will wait with interest to see what transpires from it. The waiting seems to have got worse not better. I think it is arrogance of the highest degree, what Hyundai have done to loyal customer's. If they'd of come out months ago and been more honest people would have been more forgiving. I almost hope they lose a stack of orders to teach them that people do have a choice, and they will shop around. karl.

ordered my ix35 1st july given delivery date for ist september ha.garage could tell me nothing on delivery so contacted hyundai uk who rang me back saying i was back order 47 and it would be november garage rung me next day saying end of november beginning of december garage waiting for a reply from hyundai to see if they can honour my part ex price they have to the end of the week to reply then i will cancel, went to see a rav 4 yesterday costs more but can have it within 2 weeks

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Malgail

Davyi - We took the plunge on a Rav4 after waiting for the IX35 for 5 months and being at 2 in the back order since 5th July.

As you say bit more costly, but at the moment willing to do a good deal and 9 days delivery, sold it for us. Have the reg no. already and the finance sorted should be able to pick it up Wed after ordering last Sat. Now that's service.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - davyi

great news hope to join you shortly, enjoy your rav i think you have don the best deal im just fed up not getting any info.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - JudgedRed

My patience ran out on Friday. The dealer rang me to suggest that I was looking at mid November, for my April ordered IX35. He strongly recommended that I Iook elsewhere for another vehicle, which I took to mean that either he didn't want to honour the trade-in agreement from the April order date or that he was tipping me off indirectly about potentially longer delays.

On Saturday I found a BMW X3, for less money ( secondhand ) and experienced a proper customer focused sales experience.

Bye bye Hyundai, I won't be coming back !

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - websharon

Hope you all enjoyed the discussion with Tony.

I contacted my dealer Charles Hurst who contacted Hyundai UK - there appears to be no movement with the back orders since last Monday, - car ordered June 16th prem 4wd white no packs - estimated delivery date is still the end of October 2010.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Djs1961

Hi All.

Have not had a problem getting mine (Silver Premium CDI with Media pack), went to the showroom last week (Px'd my Suzuki Vitara), had a style for a test drive for a day, ordered mine on Friday 10th Sept, already in garage, plated, and all extra's , just waiting on DLVC to swap number plates.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - stillwaitting

Hi All
Just contacted my dealer to be advised that my car has in fact been built on Friday 17th September at long last only been waiting since March should take delivery about 8/9 Oct if the lorry dosn't break down on the way over!!! Keep pushing Hyundai and don't hold your breath re expected delivery dates, I had one month for the last 5 months before this one. Will let you know when i actually manage to drive it off the forecourt.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - EazyIX35

Once again, thank you HJ for setting up the session and I think the transcript will make interesting reading.

I've just contacted the dealer and been given confirmation that the car is indeed built :) , so hopefully its on it's way to the UK in the next couple of days. The dealer also said that Tilbury are dealing with quite a large backlog at the moment (I'm presuming there's been a sudden influx of 60 reg cars as there seems to be few on the roads at the moment).

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - bce

During the Q&A session I contacted my Dealer in Bristol and was told that the car had been built as expected on Friday 17th and was awaiting final inspection before being loaded up for export to the UK. That will have been 19 weeks tomorrow since ordering it !!

I've been told it will be about 2 weeks to them and I think they'll want it for a few days to fit the extras and do the SupaGuard finish.

So, everything crossed for early October.

Dont know about others on here but i dont think the Q&A debate told us anymore than we already know. My dealer told me on the 3rd of september my ix35 was built and almost definatly on the water. Surely it will be landing any day now?. The annoying thing is that they've now realeased the auto version!, god knows how long i'd have to wait for that if i changed my order. davyi, be very careful when looking at the Rav 4 as its been around in that guise for some time now, apart from minor cosmetics, and i've read in a few car magazines a new shape model is due. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - davyi

cheers karl66 it was the new model i looked at the down side is it costs more but great looking 4x4 depends what they say about my part ex price at hyundai they dont move very fast

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - gladys

I know this may not help, but I have owned 3 RAV4s from new since 2000 before changing to my ix35 4WD Premium on 1st September. I thought carefully about buying a 4th RAV4 but on price and on spec and now on experience there is no comparison. The current RAV4 is the last facelift revision of an older model and there is to be a completely new RAV4 from 2011-12. Spec is good but you have to buy extras which are standard on the Hyundai. I had to wait nearly 4 months for my ix35 but can only say the car has exceeded all expectations.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - skidrow

I had a quick skim through these comments mid july a few days prior to ordering the ix35 2wd diesel in white. I said to my salesman that I had some concerns about delivery dates but he assured me that I would have the car sometime in September. He mentioned that if i wanted the red metallic paint I was looking at next year sometime.

The salesman has now left the organisation.

My partner is expecting a baby at the end of october hence the reason for a bigger car. We called them yesterday and they said now october sometime and because of the baby they will deliver the car to our door. After reading more comments looks like i wont get my car this year?

Im going to call them back - Hyundai lanarkshire - What should I be asking them - I see from some comments that there is a list and you can find out where your car is in the production line - Am I entitled to know this info -

cheers

If you ordered mid july then I would say you are looking at at least January. I have been quoted as "build no 12 in the back log" and have had another month added on each month since June following my April order.

I gave up on Friday and cancelled to buy a BMW X3 instead. I was called this morning and told my IX35 was being delivered to the dealer on October 4th. The dealer told me early November.

Its impossible to get a straight answer.

The one obvious question not asked during the Q&A session was why they continued to take orders when it was obvious that production delays of 6 months would be the result ?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - skidrow

Well done to hyundai Taggarts Motherwell, Pick up our (now 4wd silver) ix35 30th september 2010. Been given reg and saw the car today. £1450 extra for the 4wd and metallic paint but getting it early....rather than next year.....

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - davyi

thanks gladys for the info on the rav, i would also prefer the ix35 but theres only so much hassle you can take and lack of info is one of them i am still only going to wait until the weekend and if i have not heard from them i will cancel

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

This is now becoming a circus!!. Just spoke to my dealer who informs me they were given the wrong info off hyundai uk, and it was all a big mistake that my car had been built and was on its way over for end of this month delivery. I am really fuming now as the dealer has said they dont even have a definate build date now!!!. Was so looking forward to picking it up as well. I really am f****ing speechless. karl.

Perhaps we should start a league of the dealers who have spouted the most crap to just fob us off as the delays go on and on? There's not that many of them so I do hope we're not sharing the same one though!

Hi Guys

I have ordered a 2WD IX35 Premium in black with Media pack end of August and have been given a date of end of November .. somehow I get the impression that this may be wishful thinking ..

Shame Hyundai have screwed this up after the excellent job they did capturing new customers during the scrappage scheme (got my wife an i10 this way and very impressed with it for the price we paid)

Just wondering how easy is it to get your deposit back if you decide to cancel due to delivery times being pushed back and not being prepared to wait until next year for delivery?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - bce

Karl, I think we had similar order dates - Mind was the 11th May.

I was informed by the dealer that it was built last Friday (on this monday) and was just waiting final inspection prior to shipping.

Did you get similar info ?

Brian

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - websharon

Two questions -does anyone have any accurate figures for the mp for the ix35 prem 4wd 2l diesel as a few reviews are only showing combined of 33mpg? and has anyone looked at the first edition KIA Sportage as dealers appear to have this SUV in stock?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

Brian, yes mine was ordered 14th may.origonally it was sirus silver, brown leather, both pks, 4wd. Then after loads of missed dates i was told there was one coming the end of this month, casa white, black leather, both pks. My dealer has a 60 plate 4wd premium, with no pks, i've even suggested i'd have that one as its mainly the premium 4wd that were after. Just waiting on there decision as to whether there prepared to let us have it. I'm really p***ed off and on the verge of calling it a day. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Ellie65

Hi Karl

Sounds like your dealer spouts as much rubbish as ours did, 3 times we were told it had been built and guess what!! it hadn't, we are now having a fight with them to get our deposit back after cancelling our order, picked up a lovely mitsubishi outlander yesterday and must say apart from the panoramic sunroof it has everything the ix35 has, but i can live without that, we have both been hyundai customers for the past 7 years and i will never buy from them again, hope that you get some truthful info soon and you actually get to drive your nice new car

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - websharon

Hi Karl, I hope you have received a positive answer from your dealer but what I cannot believe is there are cars (obviously dealer orders) being delivered to dealers that match customers orders - why can Hyundai not reallocate these builds. Also was it correct that 175 customers orders for April have still not been supplied never mind the rest of us waiting?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - HurryUp&Wait

Also was it correct that 175 customers orders for April have still not been supplied never mind the rest of us waiting?

This is correct. I am one of the 175, having ordered an ix35 2.0CRDi 4WD Premium on 2nd April (2010). I have no information about when my contract with Verve Hyundai in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, will be fulfilled. I contacted Mr Whitehorn shortly before 1pm today, and he replied very quickly - apologising that he had been out of the office since Monday afternoon. He provided the following:

"Understandably I don't want to by-pass the dealer, safe to say it has been produced. We have just now given Bickets the full details of the car and when it will arrive and they will give you all the information. I see you have posted on Honest John website that I hadn't got back to you I'm sure you will now inform everyone that we have.
In finality, thank you for being so patient, I'm certain you will finally enjoy the car when it arrives."

Happy to confirm that somebody at HMUK is in a position to provide the level of customer service that we all expect - well done the Managing Director. I eagerly anticipate Bickets (now Verve) in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, passing on the news...

I have today also emailed mr tony whitehorn to see if he can sort out this nighmare. Imagine being told you can pick your car up finally , at the end of this month, having put private plate on retention etc, then having this bombshell a wk before. I will keep people informed on his decision. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

At last i have some good news. Hyundai uk have responded rapidly and bought this matter to an end. A week saturday we shall be picking up our new ix35 premium 4wd, no pks. That was two days ago, since when there has been no contact from the Dealer; so my wife phoned them this morning. Somebody from HMUK Customer Services has phoned them with a chassis number, but the Dealer are unable (or unwilling?) to say when it will arrive. F i n a l l y I get a call saying the car has been built, inspected & actually IN TRANSIT & will be delivered by the end of September.

Can it be true? well as all of you have experienced I have had that many fob off stories of the car being 7th / 12th / 3rd on "the list" from April onwards... until I'm sat in the car driving the damn thing out the dealers, I refuse to believe..

Does anyone know, if the car is actually on a boat heading to Tilbury how long it takes approximately to get to the dealer & is ready for collection?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - bobbyb

I ordered ix35 4wd Premium with both packs 28th April, I have also been told yesterday that it is built and is on the ship into Tilbury. Hyundai claim it takes 2-3 weeks from build to delivery to the dealer.

Have been told so many porkies since I ordered the car , I too will only believe it is here when I see it.

Does anyone know how the cars get from the factory to the deperture port and which port it is. Rob

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - leelou
i was also told the same yesterday i ordered mine 30th april 4wd both packs the salesman said i should get it by the end of next week but we will see!
Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

I have just returned from the dealers , and have finalised everything for delivery a wk from saturday. My car was actually outside the dealers and i have signed the logbook so the private plate will be on when we pick it up. I'm having a few bits fitted such as front parking sensors, front and rear silver vallance covers, and larger sill covers for inside the doors to protect the instep sill. I could have had side steps but believe me they would totally wreck the look of the car. karl.

Hi Karl,

Hope all goes well. I also hope the £500 comp is going towards those accessories!!

I've gone for the Door Sill Guards, Front & Rear Skid Plates and the Side Moulding to protect the doors - That with fitting + VAT came to £495. So what shall I spend that Fiver on ????

I've been told the car is on it's way over - How long was your built to delivery period in the end?

I too have a private plate and have given my dealer the "Certificate of entitlement" - What else has to be done? Did you go for the 7 day drive away insurance to help get the registration sorted out?

Brian

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - fitlike

fitlike. are you accessories going on to your ix 35 before you pick it up?? mine has to go back to get accessoriess fitted .

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - bce

I ordered my accessories on the 6th Sept so I do hope they have them to fit when the car turns up at the end of the month.

Brian

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

Brian, mine's a bit of a one off deal. We have taken there demo which has 300 odd miles on and was registered on 1st sep on a 60 plate. It's what they call a 1+1?, like i said its the 4wd premium in casa white, it has the half leather instead of full, but we have full leather in our current car and its given us no more money on trade in. We also decided to giveup on waiting for media pk as getting the car this side of xmas was important!!. Our jewel in the crown is the 4wd as we definatley wanted this. Glad we ended up with casa white as it looks stunning, it was also our second choice behind sirus silver. Because it was a demo were not supposed to get the £500 freebies but i've managed to wrangle the above goodies. We dont need the drive away insurance as the cars already registered. As long as your dealer has the certificate of entitlement, he will do the rest. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - bce

With a stock of 700 engines this month and only about 175 outstanding units before mine I guess there is every chance the info my Dealer is being given by HMUK is right and it has been built. In which case I maye well be driving it soon if the guys at Tilbury pull their fingers out.

I really can't see any point in having a 2WD version of this car (no offence to those that do) so I'm with you on that - Just wish they had the 6 speed Auto version available when I ordered.

Brian

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - fitlike

fitlike mine took 14 days to come to aberdeen scotland

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - itaylort

Also had ours in about 4 weeks from delivery 2wd premium syr silver all pack and with black leather.

No real issues apart from the speed sensing door locks dont work. Anyone had any issues with theirs?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - fitlike

fitlike. got my ix35 last saturday very pleased with it. only thing is the door sensing . . it has to go in for its accessoris to be fitted i will get them to look at that then. can t tow till i do 1200 miles according to hand book think that was the same with my tucson. graham

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - websharon

so this info on the hyunda-forumns ffrom 'richluk' and it appears they have an update on delivery times he thinks it might also apply to the UK.

"Hello,
I am new to this forum & live in Luxembourg. I thought you might be interested in this. I have back in July placed an order for an ix35. Originally the delivery date I have been given was end of September. This morning I have been to the garage to check on when I could collect my car, only to be told that delivery is now mid-december.
The sales guy showed me an official letter from (I guess head office in Brussels) ix35 orders taken in April - Delivery in October; order May - delivery June; Order June - Delivery November; July -> December; August -> January etc etc so I guess we can expect at least a 7month delay. Maybe a similar delay can be expected in the UK. "

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - howmuchlonga!

SpookilIy I too have been contacted by my dealer, my car has now been built and should(?) be ready for collection in mid October. I have told my dealer that if it's not ready to collect by the 16th then I will be cancelling my order.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - HurryUp&Wait

Mr Whitehorn provided the following:

"Understandably I don't want to by-pass the dealer, safe to say it has been produced. We have just now given Bickets the full details of the car and when it will arrive and they will give you all the information."

That was two days ago, since when there has been no contact from the Dealer; so my wife phoned them this morning. Somebody from HMUK Customer Services has phoned them with a chassis number, but the Dealer are unable/unwilling to say when it will arrive. They say they only get a day's notice from HMUK about deliveries.

HurryUp&Wait - but perhaps only unti the day after tomorrow?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - watwy
Hello Guys,

I placed my order on 5th July10, saying to the dealer I want it on the 1st/9 they said the car will be here before , I said wait until 60 plate.
Problem starts
Then they told me second week of sept, then end or 1oct, now 11th.
They say it's being built in sept, said the same few days ago 1 and same Plus I have a p/x lost more than £500 now they have told me they will stick to the sept price for the car (when is good)
My dealer is quite good just does not always return my car understandable after he has quite a few customers waiting.
Like few post above I will believe it only when the car is in the UK and I'm getting a personal plate put on the car give them the print plates(had them from before) and the form

Well done to hyundai Taggarts Motherwell, Pick up our (now 4wd silver) ix35 30th september 2010. Been given reg and saw the car today. £1450 extra for the 4wd and metallic paint but getting it early....rather than next year.....

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

Has anybody thats recently took delivery of there ix35 had any clutch problems as a few on another forum are reporting the car is hard to get into 1st gear, but only intermittently. they have said by turning the engine on and off the problem solves itself, and away they go!. Anytakers?. karl

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - howmuchlonga!

We have a 2008 Tucson at work and it had the same problem, I believe the fix was a simple adjustment and/or replacement of the clutch cable?

Do you have link to forum Karl?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

KJO1967, go to Hyundai forum.com. You will have to scroll down to tuscon section, then ix35 section will come up. You will then see all the subjects. Some may say why worry about a problem that you do not have, but it would be such a disapointment to pick up this lovely car with a dodgy clutch or gearbox. If it is just a minor ajustment then that would be great. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - the £500 gesture of goodwill - EazyIX35

OK been onto Hyundai UK today regarding the £500 gesture of goodwill which has been offered to those waiting for the cars ordered in goodfaith, to date its been offered to those waiting 16 weeks or more and I'm nearly upto 20 weeks. Suffice to say the reply demonstrated that Hyundai have NOT learnt their lesson in how to provide good customer service.

I'm in the process of hearing back from my dealer (Evanshalshaw, gateshead) with whom I have no issue with as to whether or not I will receive the gesture of goodwill and boy do I need goodwill now!. We know that Hyundai are monitoring this forum, so if I don't receive a satisfactory response, I will contact Mr Whitehorn for his response before publishing the facts for everyone to make their mind up.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - the £500 gesture of goodwill - EazyIX35

OK further to the post above. I've now received an offer from Hyundai that I'm happy with, it's not the same as the £500 gesture but good enough for me.

Also I've been told that my car will be released from credit hold at Tilbury over the weekend and so it should be on it's way to the dealer at the start of the week. So hopefully, fingers and everything else crossed, I should be able to pick it up next Saturday (9th) which is only 21 weeks after ordering the car!!!.

Let's hope that they can address the last issues which alot of IX35 drivers (including reviewers) have already raised:

1. The intermittent clutch issue whilst in slow\standing traffic

2. The inability to use post codes on the sat nav (this was also an issue with the 1st release of the Qashqai )

3. Fuel consumption rates being lower than expected

HELP !!!!!! I ordered my IX35 2.0 premium 4x4 on the 17th April 2010 and was told May delivery, then June and so on... does anyone on this planet know if and when they are ever going to build/deliver this vehicle. I am starting to think i dreamt test driving many moons ago...

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - leelou
hi lyndsay02 yours should be here soon i ordered mine 30th April and im picking mine up friday i have reg number and i have been in to pick my £500 accessories. Did you order brown leather because i think there is a bigger hold up for that?
Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - lyndsay02

Hi leelou

How bizarre after posting that comment my Hyundai dealer called me to say the car would be here in 12-14 days (fingers crossed). My IX35 is only a Premium no extra packs on Black leather so not sure why the delay for so long.... What did you choose for your accessories? i am really struggling I don't really want to spend £500 on car mats and the DVD player is roof mounted and because of the sunroof you can't have it!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - leelou

hi i just ordered boot mat, mats, bumper protector, cill guards front and back skid plate and roof box and bars i went over £500 and i do know i could get the roof box/bars cheaper but i just wanted it complete. Nothing special but i think these will help protect the car.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - kevin harris

You guys are lucky, ordered mine beginning of May, had ususla June, July etc, now it is end November BUT as it is a lease car Hyundai will not offer the £500 accessories eventhough I have free choice of car. So Hyundai are determined to cheese off the fleetmarket too - not a good idea as the fleet market tends to have a higher turnover of vehicles

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - oracle

I ordered mine, the Premium back in May and was told one month delivery, six weeks tops! I was advised today my car is at Tilbury and should be ready to collect from my dealer within the next couple of weeks. The dealer has agreed to honour the original trade in price for my car . So in theory I could be in possession soon. I'm pleased to be getting it with £500 of goodwill freebies but am still going 'watch this space'. I'LL BELIEVE IT WHEN I'M SAT IN IT!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - EazyIX35
hi oracle, if you don't mind me asking, what was the EXACT date in May that you ordered. Thanks in advance.

Eazyix35
Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - TonyHar

I ordered a 4WD casa white premium with MPack back in May (26th i think) and to be fair to the dealer was orginally told 8-10 weeks, that obviously passed and was told september etc. now i'm told end of October but have serious doubts by reading the forums that this is going to happen....i too have been offered the 'goodwill' gesture but to be honest i'm getting to the point where i've lost all faith in hyundai as a company....what's annoying is the car is b***** good!!!

I can't believe in this day and age a car manufacturer cannot increase production via other means, it's not as if they're all hand built!!

Hi Oracle, thanks for the update.
Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - oracle

My Dealer contacted me today, I'm collecting ix35 next friday. Five and a half months more or less waiting for it, Premium 4wd in piston grey, can't wait to get behind the wheel. I'll give some feedback in a couple of weeks.

Well I suppose I'll not get the £500 accessories as well then! Mine's a lease car too, ordered 4WD Premium with Media pack on 14th May. Lease website order tracker has changed the delivery date from 1st Sept to 21st Sept now 3rd Oct and it's still showing this date (at the moment). Fingers crossed it'll be here in the next couple of weeks - with or without accessories!!!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - bce

Just to add a ray of hope to those out there still waiting..

Ordered 11th May (told the usual 8-10weeks !!). Premium 4WD with Mewdia Pack in Infra Red.

HMUK told dealer it was built on the 17th Sept.

Car arrived in UK yesterday and will be with the Dealer middle of next week.

Should pick it up on Monday 11th with my accessories installed.

Some good news at last !! If you've ordered from a Dealer in mid-May, don't jump ship as I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

Brian

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Beauty and Efficiency Ha Ha

To add a few more drops of rain I ordered a Premium 4WD with Media and Individual Pack in Infra Red on the 6th April 2010 through an internet broker.

Monthly updates but no sign or even a hint of when it might be available!

HMUK's £500 only applies to dealer orders, even though it will be supplied via a dealer. Therefore I will loose this as well as 6 month of waiting. Should I hold on or buy one of the few demonstratiors that come on to the market?

The Hyundai experience so far has not been 'beautiful or efficient'.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

As most on here no, we've been waiting since 14th may for ours. Picked it up yesterday, casa white premium, 4wd. All i can say is wow!!, it really is that good and definatly worth the wait. This is us coming out of a 3 year old 1 series bmw,and let me tell you the ride quality, fit and finish etc, of the ix35 is way superior. Keep the faith. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - websharon

Hi Karl, hope you enjoy your ix35 ours is the same spec and ordered on the 18th of June from Charles Hurst (Belfast) so we are still waiting with no date. I notice you asked about mpg figures, my husband emailed Hyundai UK and this is the response he received hope it helps.

"Thank you for your recent email enquiry regarding fuel consumption on a
Hyundai ix35.

The published figures for fuel consumption, for Hyundai and every other
motor manufacturer, are controlled by a nominated government agency from
within the EEC. The test criteria are determined by the European Union
Directive 93/116/EC and are intended to give new car buyers information to
allow comparisons between other vehicle makes and models.

I can appreciate that these figures play a major part in the decision to
buy a new vehicle, but due to the need to be strictly comparable, the
results should not be considered as fully representative of true-life
driving conditions. The fuel consumption of any model type will vary
depending upon driving circumstances e.g. the number of cold starts, number
of accelerations and journey type will all have a marked effect. As will
weather conditions, tyre pressures, air conditioning switched on or off,
weight carried and so on.

This point is made by the UK Department of Transport in their publication
"New Car Fuel Consumption - The Official Figures". This booklet states
that:

Because of the need to maintain strict comparability of results achieved by
the standard tests they cannot be fully representative of real-life driving
conditions...few motorists drive in towns from a fully warmed-up start or,
outside towns at a constant 56mph or 75mph. There are infinite variations
in driving styles and in road, car and weather conditions, all of which can
have a bearing on the results achieved. For these reasons the fuel
consumption achieved on the road will not necessarily accord with the
official test results.

Furthermore, it must be appreciated that the test is conducted with no
driver or passenger within the vehicle, that a different oil type is used
and that air resistance will not play a part whilst in the laboratory
environment. The level of acceleration and deceleration is set on the test,
and may vary considerably to the level given by different drivers in
practical environments. Given these factors it is almost impossible to
achieve the published figures, which, I must stress again, are designed for
comparison purposes only.

Whilst I appreciate your concern Mr Taylor, I would recommend for you to
keep a record of your fuel figures over the first couple of months, once
you take delivery of your Hyundai ix35. If you are still unhappy with the
consumption I recommend for you to visit your dealership for diagnostics.

I do hope this answers your enquiry and would like to thank you for taking
the time to contact Hyundai Customer Services.

Yours sincerely

Lyndon Mantle
Hyundai Customer Services"

Just completed my first 1500 miles in ix35 Premium 4WD. Mixed urban and motorway driving and a long crawl for 10 miles at 7mph on the M25. Have aschieved 44.3 mpg and currently 43.2mpg (half a tank). Consumption has never fallen below 38 even on my first 500 miles and it has on one run touched 46.5. Have to say I am delighted with the car, and so confortable!

Hi all, ordered my ix 35 4wd both packs 28th April. Was told July delivery, then August, September and now October Is here. Informed 2 weeks ago the car was built and on the ship, no further news. Getting really fed up now, and I think Hyundai are an absolute disgrace with its customer service as you either get bad information or no information at all. Rob

Well my Premium 4WD with Media Pack, ordered 14th May, was due into the dealers yesterday, after an original date of 1st Sept, then 21st Sept. Surprise, Surprise, the lease company have just informed me it didn't arrive and will try and find out more info for me. I am now seriously p'd off as I have to extend my hire car yet again.

Think I'll be going back to BMW when this lease expires. At least their Customer Services are fantastic even if the optional extras cost a fortune!

Has anyone who ordered a 4WD Premium with both packs had one delivered?

Has anyone received an IX35 from Buy a Car.com?

Thinking of giving up and buying a basic 4WD Premium from the scottich dealer who has a few in stock.

I ordered a 2WD metalic black premium from Buy-a-car, first week in August, and was given a delivery date of end of October. After reading the posts on here i queried with Buy-a-car whether they were experiencing any delays, to which i was told no, and informed they have been coming through fine!

When i asked in writing the delivery time has now changed to the 2nd week in november, and i have a feeling that this will soon change again.

How long have you been waiting? And what stories have Buy-a-car given you so far?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Beauty and Efficiency Ha Ha

Email responses from Buy a Car have been the same for the last 4 months. The only difference is the date keeps changing to the next month.

Has anyone recieved an IX35 from Buy a Car?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - gazzer

I have not bothered to chase Buy a car up. I ordered mine on 19 July and don't expect to receive it to December judging by this forum.

Does any one know if we are eligible for the £500 good will gesture ?

Gazzer

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Beauty and Efficiency Ha Ha

I contacted Buy a Car and Hyundai direct.

Unfortunately as the £500 is only paid for orders directly through their dealer network.

Again we the customer loose out, especailly as the vehicle eventually come through the UK dealer network.

Perhaps Hyundai UK should rethink this one if they want to treat end customers the same.

Still waiting

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - wheres_my_ix35

All I can say is I have had a 4wd Premium with both packs (black leather) on order since 6th April. I have been told many different dates since that time when the car will arrive and I'm still waiting. Latest was that the car would be in at the end of September, then first week of October and now mid November. Hyundai really need to pull their finger out because this kind of service is horrendous. Not sure if this is a Hyundai UK failing or if Hyundai Corporate just don't care about the UK market. Maybe a bit of both. They really should have had stock ready for the UK before the release in March. I don't mean finished product but there should have been plenty of allocated engines and other components that have been used as reasons for the delay put aside for the UK market. It's not difficult, a 2wd or 4wd diesel version. Not exactly a huge amount of options to choose from.

As far as buyacar is concerned I suspect they are lying to you. I beleive all dealers are experiencing problems so for them to say they aren't seems extremely unlikely.

Yes I have been told my IX35 is in the UK and should be at my dealers in about 8 days from now ( I will believe that when i see it), I choose my accessories.... and now the fun starts again. ie to add the front parking sensors Hyundai charge £143.01 for the sensors my dealer called me today to tell just for this it will be £515!! beacuse the £143.01 does not include fitting. Just wondering if anybody else is getting robbed with the pardon I dont roll around the floor laughing "£500 of accessories as a goodwill gesture". I am starting to wonder if this is how the dealers are going to make up for losses by hiking up their fitting charges???

As most no on here, i picked up my ix35 last wk after a very long wait. I had the front parking sensors fitted, and they were £295 supplied fitted and painted. My wife ordered a 2wd, 2ltr diesel, style in piston grey on May16th. Like many on here she has 3 or 4 changes to rough delivery dates. Last one was sometime this month, can't even tie them down to a week slot. Anyway she's been in contact with her dealer (HATFIELDS of Bury) and HUK. Their stories never tally up, they have never given her a where she is in the production line estimate, we're having to fight for the "good will" gesture. All in all we are not at all happy with Hyundai. This is a farce and I strongly recommend that if you're looking on here with a view to ordering a ix35 then don't bother, not for the forseeable future anyway. It is a cracking motor but the waiting and rubbish customer is very disheartening. Still waiting!!!!!!!!!

Have followed the discussion for 1 month;I must be the luckiest customer;ordered a premium 4wd in red with media pack on aug 21st,and quoted delivery in dec.The dealer phoned me on friday to say he had some good news-the car had been built and was in the UK-I could expect the car within the next two weeks.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - pjb7

Ordered a white style 4wd in mid August through HSBC Car Lease. Was expecting to wait a few months but was suprised when the car was delivered to me on 6th September. The main reasons i picked the ix35 was i was looking for a car to tow a horse trailer, had to be reasonably priced, had a low CO2 output (for tax reasons) and had a decent kerb weight to do the job I required. I has an nissan x-trail before and was sad to see it go. I have now done 2500 miles in the ix35 and car is great. no problem towing horse and trailer on roads and across muddy fields(combined weight 1300kg). kids love the heated seats and the 'style' has all the kit i would be looking for or need.

Looking forward to 3 years of happy motoring/towing.

Having just chased my lease co. again, I have been informed my Black Premium 4WD with Media Pack is AT THE DEALERS. Yipee!!! Just have to wait for PDI checks and a delivery date to me. Lease co. says I should have it within a week. That'll make it 23 weeks from the order date.

Only problem is, I can't actually remember what it looks like it was so long ago I test drove one, so if they deliver me a mongoose with roller skates on I'll take it!!

Hahaha, its been just over 27 weeks since I ordered my IX35 premium 4wd and im the same I cannot remember what the car looks like and we couldnt even test drive the premium only the style so they could fob me of with a I10 im getting that desparate for a car I think anything would be better!!! I have been told since the 5th October my car is in the country having PDI checks and I should have it in 10 -14 days but you know Hyundai I still havent got a confirmed date that it will be at the dealers and then they have to fit the accessories..

Hi been following for a month now and still not sure if things are improving. I have only been waiting 20 weeks!, but not had any contact from H head office re free Accs. Also i believed H head office were controlling who received cars on a strictly waiting time basis, yet there is a dealer in Scotland advertising 4 un reg 4wd cars available immediately!!!. Maybe H head office who are monitoring the site would comment, but i doubt it. Ps im waiting for a white one, has anybody seen one?

A further sign of the supply situation easing? October is the first month that a discount has been listed for the ix35 on the Spanish list of manufacturers' discounts; not very big (€1000/1200 depending on model) but it wasn't there last month:

Hello

I have been following this discussion as I ordered my ix35 2wd in sirius silver 22 weeks ago. When we ordered we were told about a 3-4 week wait and here we are...it has been put back at least 5 times and with the dealer giving me different information each time I phone (as they never call me!).

Today I emailed Tony Whitehorn to try and get an answer as to when I will get the car.

The question is how long do I wait......I have already had to put the car I am part exchanging through MOT

I feel so disappointed and echo everything that has been posted here

Thanks for reading (this is like therapy)

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - howmuchlonga!

I too am suffering exactly the same problem. Week 23 and the dealer has never called with an update, they've fobbed me off 3x now, the last one 3 weeks ago was "the car is being today".....spooky or what?

Seeing how long it has taken other owners on here to get theirs I should really be picking it up this weekend, the reality is it will probably be mid-november possibly even later....who knows when?!

I too have had to have my car MOT'd, thankfully it didn't need anything doing, but I'm still £54.85 out of pocket. My insurance runs out in 3 weeks and if I renew and change the details I estimate my wallet will be another £48 lighter.

I have written and posted a letter to Hyundai and I've still no acknowledgement from them 2 weeks later, they are either incompetent, overworked or couldn't care less, maybe it's all three!!!

My wife has had an update. The £500 goodwill gesture is no more apparently. What HUK are looking into doing is offering 3 or 5 years free servicing although this is just hearsay. She's 12th in the production line, when they start her perticular line that is. So there are still no dates as to when it will be built nevermind delivered. Its only been 22+ weeks we've been waiting. Does anyone have Tony Whitehorns e-mail as this usually seems to get things going.

Thanks All.

Just been up to Berkley vale motors in Thornbury nr Bristol, there was about 15 ix35,s in the field alongside the garage, all colours,no plates on,they weren't there last week,so they are coming through.mine was one of them, premium, silver, 4wd, media pack. ordered on august 9th.

Hello,

Has anyone got front parking sensors fitted to the IX35 (dealer fitted extra).

Does the parking sensors stop bleeping when switched on, or does it just continue beeping non-stop (even when not near a object)

Thanks for any reply

Hyundai ix35 - Parking sensors - bce

Hi Folks,

Picked up my ix35 on Tuesday after a 23 week wait and think it's a great bit of kit.

One thing I can't however suss out is the "Speed Sensitive Automatic Door Locking" - In other cars I've been in that have this, there is a definate Clonk when you get to the speed at which the central locking is activated and the door lock "indicators" by the handles move into place but I'm not getting any of this on the ix35.

There is a switch on the drivers door to manualy lock/unlock all the doors at once but the "Auto" bit just isn't happening.

Do I have to do something to activate the feature ??

Brian

Hyundai ix35 - Parking sensors - Howie_IX35
My front parking sensors don't seem to be working either and the speed sensitive door locking also doesn't seem to work. Car is booked in to have both issues looked at next week.
Hyundai ix35 - Parking sensors - simplesi

Hi Brian

Our locking didnt work either, had to take to the garage, they didnt know how to set it and had to contact Hyundai to discuss. It would appear that most cars have it "switched off" and the garage need to do this!

The car has worked well apart from the media centre which has been replaced as it worked more off than on! However, the wife wants an auto 4wd version and the have no idea when these might turn up!

I emailed Tony whitehorn, when i'd waited 5 months and i've got to say he responded within hours, and his staff sorted our car within a week. We've had it 2wks now and its by far the best car i've ever owned, and believe me i've had all your luxury marques. Anyone still waiting, hold on!!, this is some machine, we have the premium 4wd and the engine is ultra smooth, mated to a great 6 speed box, it handles so tight with great grip. For an Suv , it drives just like a hatchback and is so comfortable. 2 total strangers have so far approached me at service stations just to have a nose, they were that impressed. karl.

I appreciate that some of you have waited quite a while for your ix35...I ordered a white 2wd with media pack on 18th July...my problem is with the lack of contact from my dealer. I have made contact with them on a number of occasions to be told I'm 32nd in the queue...then 18th...and expect delivery mid - end of October.

Contacted them again today to be told that they cannot even quote a build date..!

I tried to explain to the salesman that customer care is paramount and would have expected a call from him to update me on what is happening..

He went on the defensive and kept stating it wasn't their fault..! I attempted to explain the viewpoint of a frustrated customer and that the Hyundai dealer was the link with the manufacturer. I have NEVER known such incompetence..Hyundai management have made such a mess of the whole thing ...and the lack of liaison between them and dealers and customers is simply staggering.l

Other major players in the car market must be amazred and delighted with the mess Hyundai and their dealers have got themselves into.

God help us when further new models come out in the near future...This is suicidal.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Avant

"Contacted them again today to be told that they cannot even quote a build date..!"

We all know that demand exceeds supply so that there are long delays, but that attitude is completely pathetic. I suggest you give them a deadline - say the end of this week - to give you an answer or you cancel the order.

It'salso unprofessional of the salesman to say it's not his fault. It may not be personally, but as you clearly understand and he doesn't, the retailer is the contact with the customer and the party with whom the contract will be made.

I'm a little curious as to why there's such a high demand for this particular car. I'm sure it's a reasonably good car but it hasn't won group tests in the magazines, and it doersn;t seem to be much cheaper than its rivals. What Car's A to Z guide lists lots of others which can do the job as well or better.

As a previous message says, Berkeley Vale Hyundai in Thornbury, Nr Bristol do have quite a few on their forecourt. Perhaps it's worth giving them a call, seeing if they have the colour, model etc you want and give them your order if they can deliver, then cancel with your incompetent dealer! The customer care really is quite appalling with quite a few of the H dealers it would seem. Best of luck.

IX35 Premium 4WD (no packs) in Machine Silver.

Ordered end of March, delivered 14th of October.. .. not bad!

Finally, the ACTUAL vehicle is parked outside my house, not a mirage... the real thing.

First impressions... very nice indeed, feels like a much more expensive car, only drove it home from work (ordered via Masterlease) & then to fill it up.

Had mats, flaps & Supaguard treatment as part of the £500 free accessories.

Keep wating people... I'm sure your orders must be fulfilled soon.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - AnotherWaiting

@BARABBAS

There could be a few reasons for this…..

1) Those who appear to get cars earlier haven’t ordered the 2ltr Diesel. Although some clearly have, therefore see below.

2) As we know and have seen on this thread many people cancel orders, the dealers don’t actually cancel with the factory, they just allocate the cars down the line when they do arrive.

3) Some dealers had the foresight to order ‘stock’ in popular colours & specs knowing that they can easily sell or allocate to incoming orders.

4) Based on previous sales ‘achievements’, location etc, some dealers will be held in higher regard within the Hyundai hierarchy than others. This could influence allocation of built cars.

** disclaimer ** like most of my chat up lines, the above may not be true.

It's very frustrating seeing at how some buyers have managed to secure a vehicle quickly, whilst others have been waiting for far too long.... I don't believe that I will see my order fulfiled before Christmas....but hopefully before any snow!

IT'S AN IX35!!!!!!!!

I am happy to announce the arrival of a shiny black Premium 4WD with Media Pack which was ordered 13th May.

It's literally just been delivered on the back of a transporter - think the neighbours will know I've got a new car now as it was taking up most of the road!! Unfortunately, the transporter didn't have any othe IX35's on it, and the driver has only delivered one other which was yesterday, so can't give any good news for those still waiting.

Hope you all get yours soon too.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Beauty and Efficiency Ha Ha

It's good to here that some are eventually coming through. I'm sure you will enjoy your new car.

Unfortunately my wife's IX35 which was order on the 6th April is lost in the minsts of time. Looks like I will have to buy her a different birthday present for her birthday in November, Hopefully she can have her 4WD Premium with both pack for Christmas.!

If it the VAT increase applies I will just give up a buy one of the few used Premiums which are on offer.

Has anyone received an IX35 from Buy a Car.com?

Perhaps I should have used a main dealer.

Hi Beauty,

I ordered a black premium 2WD with no packs on the 06/08/10, from Buy-a-Car, i was given an estimated delivery date of 28/10/10, when queried with buy-a-car after reading this forum, I was then given a delivery date of 14/11/10. On Monday 18/10/10, I recieved a call to say that they had just taken delivery of a piston grey ix35 with no packs, which was originally a cancelled order, and as i was the 'oldest' order on their records for this spec bar colour, they offered me first refusal. I have taken the offer of piston grey as was my second choice anyway, and have just this moment completed all the paperwork, to have the car delivered this coming monday.

I know that if i didn't take this opportunity i would not be seeing my new car till next year, as they did let it slip by accident, that a recent update from Hyundai now showed my 'black ix35' as being delivered December (estimated)!!

Sorry but I am going to brag now..... I have recieved my IX35 Premium 2l 4wd and it is sooo lovely and well worth the horrendous wait. I ordered mine in April so a late October delivery was a very long wait. I also have to say the customer service at Hyundai are getting better and more helpful i ordered mats, sill guard skid plates and front parking sensor with the free accessories and was then told by my dealer they would charge a fortune in the region of £300+ to fit these, when i spoke to Hyundai direct they have covered the cost of all the fitting which now makes me a very happy lady! I hope you all get your cars soon ;-)

Just coming into the market for ix35/sportage etc. appreciate this thread is about delays but it also seems to be hinting that the problem is being resolved. Bearing this in mind, and my only requirement being 2lt diesel premium 4wd (no colour or pack preference), anyone know where I can pick one up? My local dealer is quite small and not a lot of cop.
thanks.
Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - any stock anywhere? - AnotherWaiting

I think you will just have to phone around all the dealers maybe start nearest to you and work outwards from there. You say your ‘only requirement’ is the 4wd Diesel but unfortunately I fear that’s puts you into the biggest delay, not the packs or colours.

Unless they start coming through quicker *I guess* you could be looking at March or April next year if you ordered now. Bear in mind its standard dealer practice to take your order/deposit and be overly optimistic with a predicted delivery date (as many of us know).

From what I have seen in autotrader and whilst browsing some dealers stock, you can expect to pay full RRP prices for anything they might have including ex-demonstrators and cars with a few hundred (or more) miles on them.

Supply and demand I guess.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - any stock anywhere? - AlleyCat`

Agreed autotrader and hyundai approved do show a few kicking about but they are few and far between. I personally can't see how the sportage demand for the same engine will improve things...

The closest dealer to me has a 4wd in white that is a used (10 plate) and is above list price.

Only one dealer on autotrader / hyundai approved appears to have a "few" in stock.

I think they have a 4wd premium in red (off the top of my head) on a 60 plate with no extras.

I suppose if demand for the 1.7 2wd gets some people to switch their orders it might help.

Hi All,

Picked up my IX35 yesterday, after a 2 month wait, and lo and behold, saw 2 transporters yesterday heading up the M1 full of ix35's in various colours, keep the faith everyone they are on their way, and so far after only a day i am smitten with mine.

I have had my Premium model and am very pleased with it. The only downside is the Bluetooth which seems to be a sporadic problem. I don't intend spending a couple of hundred quid changing my mobile phone when I can pull over in to a layby and use the one I've got. Excellent car.

Ordered my 4wd premium from online broker Autofinders.co.uk in April and took delivery on the 8th October. Apart from the long delay, which was not Autofinders fault as we all know, the transaction went very smoothly and I can definitely recommend them. I know they have stock of 4wd premiums on their website.

The car is excellent to drive and looks superb. mpg not as good as I would like at the moment only getting 32 to the gallon, mainly short journeys, and would expect this to improve after there is a few thousand miles on the clock. Also does anyone know how the automatic door lock system works. My previous two cars had this feature and there was a definite clunk and door lock lever operated when the appropriate mph was reached and I dont get this on the ix35. Thanks

Hyundai ix35 - First Impressions - Howmuchlonger?

Having now had my Black 4WD with media pack for 7 whole days and completed around 500 miles, here are my views from the first week:

MPG - awful! Where's the 42 - 55 mpg they quote in the blurb? I do mainly motorway and A Road driving. I've got around 35 at best and I'm on my 2nd tank full. My previous BMW would still be on half of the first tank!

Steering - is it me, or does it seem very light? The slightest movement and the car seems to swerve at bit, but not at the same time as moving the wheel, rather just after. I've only noticed this on the motorway though.

Bluetooth - started off great, now it keeps transferring the call back to the phone. I promise I didn't touch anything, it just happened.

So the above points are maybe a bit negative, the good points are:

It looks fab sat on my drive!

I look fab driving it!

I LOVE it!!

Who cares about the MPG, Steering and whether I can take a phonecall or not.

Hope those still waiting get them soon.

Well suprise, suprise....I had yet ANOTHER call from my Hyundai garage (becoming a regular thing now!) and after informing me that the car i order in May would be here in; August, then September, then October...I've now been told possibly the end of November!! and even then they cannot give me any kind of assurances that this will happen!

Apparently, the 1.6 petrol and 1.7 diesel engines have been launched and these sales are taking precedence over the 2.0 diesel (which they have had problems procurring)..a bit of a joke really, am really p*****d off with this now as i do want the car, but am seriously thinking of going down the road of cancelling and waiting for the second hand ones to start appearing with my config on them. If this is what they are like pre-sales, what are Hyundai like on an after sales??!?!? can't believe i've been waiting for 5 months now for a blooming car!

On another note, i also found out....for all of you that Haven't received your IX35's yet....go back to your dealer and make sure that they price fix your car, there is a PRICE INCREASE coming in very soon and probably another thing they'll shaft you with if it's not brought up.

Please someone tell me that they do actually exist and i'm not just imagining giving a deposit to some guy in a shirt and tie....

Hyundai ix35 - First Impressions - howmuchlonga!

Got mine yesterday, ordered 9th august.4wd premium, machine silver media pack, all i can say is WOW.
Hyundai ix35 - First Impressions - SaintWicksy

Having been keeping a keen eye on this discussion from the sidelines, I too feel the need to vent.

When I ordered my IX35 (Silver, Premium no packs) I was prepared for a bit of a wait, and in fairness to the Dealer (Richmonds Southampton) they did make me aware of this and that I should "expect delivery within 3 months".

Well, as many on here can relate to, the goal posts have moved a few times, only last month both the Dealer and Hyundai UK informed me that we were on schedule and it should be built soon and I could expect delivery Oct / Nov. Having spoken to them today, I've now been told that as yet my order hasnt even been given a build date. I've been told to prepare that earliest / best possible it will be December but "more than likely sometime in the new year". Strangely, Hyundai UK told me previously that any orders placed before end of August 2010 would be guarenteed delivery before 2011.

I've silently tried to put it out of my mind, but as a new Hyundai customer I feel completely frustrated, angry and concerned (if this is the level of customer service when they want my money, what will it be like after they get it!!!).

Why all the misinformation and poor organisation? Why launch a car in so many countries if you are unable to fufil the orders? With such a back log why shut the factory down for a Summer Holiday period (confirmed by Hyundai UK)?

For me the fun of buying a new car has completely evaporated and currently I'm filled with concern about new VAT prices, IX35 Price increases, change in PX value, will the finance change etc etc

Thus far this has been the worst car buying experience I've ever had. Truely hope the car is worth it and as good as I remember from the test drive.

Hi we ordered ours 29th of June and we were told to expect delivery end of September and we still have no build date or delivery date Last time Hyundai UK phoned we were build No29 a month before we were build No34 so we are getting no were fast I hope when or if we ever get this car it can move a lot faster than it has taken Kia factory to build it

Hi All,

I ordered my ix35 at the start of September and I rang for an update today from my dealer and was told to expect the car in January at the earliest (4WD Premium in Black with the Individual Pack).

I'm now considering cancelling my order - does anyone know how I would stand regarding getting my deposit refunded if I cancelled my order at this stage? How have the rest of you got on that have cancelled with your dealers?

I paid £200 deposit to secure the order, so its not the end of the world, but even so I dont want to have paid them for nothing if I do choose to go elsewhere!

Many thanks for any help,

Jon

Hyundai ix35 - First Impressions - AlleyCat`

My first question would be along the lines of do you know what you intend to get instead?

To give you some idea of why i ask this:- I ordered a qashqai+2 (via fleet) in August and the delivery date went from Mid-November to March 2011 in the space of 8 weeks.

I obviously can't speak for every car out there but a lot of the "Ix35" alikes aren't much easier to get unless you happen to fall on stock / cancelled orders (assuming that is the route you are wanting to go?)

You might also need to ask Is the dealer going to guarantee you against the price rise (due next week) and the VAT Rise + whatever you negotiated off the price.

Depending on how it falls you might be saving (on new list) £1k (4wd), whatever you haggled off list price, and VAT.

I cancelled the Qashqai when i found i could fall on a cancelled order the dealer had left on the system (switched to a cash4cars setup). I've got a letter in writing from the dealer that the price on the invoice is the price i pay whatever happens with VAT, price hikes etc.

Also as others have said, if you are prepared to be flexible on what exactly you want and are prepared to travel there are some cars out there to be had (at a cost).

As to the cancellation deposit bit. With Nissan they were happy to cancel the order because it didn't even have a build date / chasis number allocated (as i said though that this was via our fleet leasing).

Personally i think if you cancel they'll give you your money back because they'll leave it on the system and pick up the extra £1k on list from another buyer pretty easily, but it isn't a certain thing as i'm not sure how far your supply date has slipped from quote?

If you look on hyundaiapproved you'll see some cars on there now "used" that are above list price..........

Not sure that helps?

Hi,

After 1500 miles on a 4wd style averaging only 35 MPG. Seems to be the norm after reading all the above.

Ordered late June got it mid sep but not the model we ordered though(2wd white style) but paid extra for the 4wd.

We were lucky but you should not have to be 'lucky' to take delivery of something you paid a vast amount of money for.

But car is great. we love it.

Hello..

Just a quick update after 500 miles of driving...

I'm a stickler for rattles... I was convinced there was a bad rattle coming from the passenger side rear... sat the wife in the back for a bit like a wannabe v.i.p & determined that it was our child seat! * paranoia kicks in after six months of waiting!*

Seriously though, well chuffed with this vehicle, it looks the nuts, drives just like a normal car... all the press talk about the "odd" power steering.. "1/4 turn suddenly goes hard & wants to automatically return abruptly to center" .. .. no, not what I have experienced, just very light & precise.

Coming from a 2006 petrol Honda civic.. the diesel engine does seem a little noisy sometimes... but I think thats the transition between the two fuel types.. compared it to next door neighbour's 5 series BMW... about the same I'd say...

Mpg.. drove from near Blackburn Lancashire to Southport using 85% motorway... experienced 42.5 - 44 mpg (4x4 premium) driving about 65 - 70 mph.. ironically flicking the cruise control on this dropped to 41 - 40 mpg.

On the way home, without resetting the trip, I went the country lane route.. parking up it showed 39 mpg... not bad.

Good luck on getting your Ix35's...

Hi, after waiting over 5 months for our ix35 premium 4wd, we still have big smiles on our faces every time we drive it, just under 1400 miles now and its loosening up nicely. We have no complaints , apart from the mpg on a start stop basis were still only averaging 31.5 mpg. Most other motoring mags, and review sites inc parkers , fith gear, etc rave about this car overhaul and mark it 4 stars. 8 Months ago when it was launched, what car gave it an overhaul 4 stars also. I wonder why they have now dropped it to 3 stars when everyone i know and speak to is jumping through hoops about it. karl.

I’ve just been told that my July order isn’t even on the ‘build list’ yet. That’s 14 weeks of waiting so far for nothing ... no hope at all.

Given this news, it’s unlikely I will get it this year. This brings the VAT increase into the equation. The dealer has said there will be more news mid- November so I’ve decided that’s the cut off point.

I won’t pay the increased vat, I’ll just cancel. The paper work states that if delivery hasn’t taken place within three calendar months of the estimated delivery date either party can cancel and the deposit shall be returned. Fortunately the estimated delivery date was 30 th September.

As it’s quite likely this will happen, I’m going to look at the Mitsubishi ASX this weekend.

i ordered 4wd piston grey both packs on may 17th.
had a call yesterday offering me the a car that is as ordered but without the leather seats.
no word on when the car i ordered will be available so i have taken this one so hopefully "my" car when it comes through will make somebody happy,

i must say that the dealer could not have been more obliging (hyundai of belmont, sutton in surrey) and now I just hope I can get insurance etc organised and drive the new car away next week.
suddenly it seems a rush!

Took delivey of red premium 4wd with media pack 3 weeks ago;was incredibly lucky;only waited 8 weeks after order was made.It so happened that the dealer had pre-ordered a number of cars in April and one of these had my particular spec.I have done 900 miles and am averaging 35mpg so far.The spec is fantastic and am still playing with all the toys.It really is a great car and well worthwhile waiting for.Hope the waiting is not too much longer.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - AnotherWaiting

It looks like the realistic wait for a **2ltr*** diesel so far has been 5 - 7 months. Lets assume this excludes people who have received cancelled orders or where dealers pre-ordered stock .

Unfortunately with the launch of the new Kia Sportage which uses the same engine and is made at the same factory I can only see it getting worse. Its no secret that Hyundai are now pushing the new 1.6 Petrol & 1.7 diesel Ix35's as a workaround.

Lets see who is still waiting and has been waiting the longest for a 2Ltr diesel ...???

Anyone not got their order (2ltr Diesel) from June, May or even April ???

Speak up! post and let us know.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - BARABBAS

Hi we have had our 2LTR diesel 4wd premium in cassa white with all packs (black leather) on order since June 29th and we are still waiting no build date or delivery date has anyone took delivery of a car with both packs yet ?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - AnotherWaiting

There's a post further up Sat 9 Oct 2010 18:05 (Howie_Ix35) who has received a car with both packs.

Don't think packs/colours are the issue really, just the 2ltr diesel.

So your June order is still outstanding, anyone with an order older than that ??

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Ron Martin

I've been waiting for my ix35 since 27th June - 2ltr diesel premium 4wd in cassa white + media pack. Latest from Hyundai on 1st Nov was no build date known but hope to deliver before end of year but no promise. A month before it was hope to deliver by end of Nov but no promise.

I think they are afraid to tell the truth how long the wait would be because if they did alot of people would cancel. I worked in the car industry for many years and in production planning; It would not be difficult for them to work out a rough real delivery date. The problem would seem to be taking far more orders than they had hoped for and the restricted supply of 2lt diesel engines. However they must have a schedule of future engine deliveries for Korea.

The good news is that no one who ordered before 1st Nov will pay the price increase introduced then and my dealer Benfield Hyundai Leeds will be paying the extra vat if delivery is next year.

My dealer is still under the impression that everyone who waits more than 17wks will get £500 of accessories for free but a previous post said this was ending to be replaced by free servicing. Does anyone have any news on this?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - AnotherWaiting

Cheers for that Ron.

So you beat BARABBAS by two days making you the unfortunate 'winner' so far. Anyone else with an older order?

I personally think that the both pks on the premium 4wd version does slow things up as they are as rare as hens teeth.we have the casa white premium with 4wd, but half leather and no media, and it looks stunning with the extras we had fitted. Dont forget theres only a bit of cloth on show with the half leather and in my opinion it looks better and sportier. As for the media pk, my dealer tells me the only complaints they have had with the ix35 have been regarding the nightmare satnav!!. The standard audio unit looks better, and is awesome sounding. Please note this is not sour grapes because i dont have them its just my opinion. Also if you can afford it go for 4wd version as it feels a lot more planted and secure . My final tip is go for casa white, it makes the car. karl.

Well I DID order mine on the 28th May....had a conversation with the dealer who fobbed me off with the same old excuse 'should be expecting it end November...' i basically said that realistically i wouldn't be seeing it this side of xmas to which he replied ' i don't know!!!'

STILL no build date for my car and to be honest I am so p'd off with the service i received from Hyundai i went in at the beginning of this week and canceled my order..got my £500 deposit back and to be honest this whole thing has really put me off buying a Hyundai at all now!

Yes i know the car is great, looks great and drives great but if the service is this poor BEFORE you get a car, what the hell is it going to be like on the after-sales side of things?!?
For those of you that are prepared to wait, good luck to you...i'm just not prepared to wait for 8+ months for a Hyundai!!!! if it was a hand built bentley fine, but come on!!!
Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - AnotherWaiting

Tony, I don't blame you. over 5 months waiting and no reliable information as to when you might get it. Tell you what ... go for a Morgan sports car instead! I think the 'waiting list' might be shorter.

I'm hanging in for the moment but its likely I'll follow suit.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - howmuchlonga!

I am so close to cancelling my order, Hyundai are a complete NIGHTMARE and my dealer doesn't seem bothered. I really wish I had gone for a Tiguan or Qashqai, I would have got one by now!

IF YOU ARE READING THIS AND STILL THINKING OF BUYING ONE.....THEN DON'T...! BUYING A NEW CAR SHOULD BE FUN...THIS ISN'T....!!!!

Wish I'd been aware of this thread when ordering in August and promised delivery for 29th September. Slipped to last week in October/first week in November. I have received an advice from Hyundai contract hire saying both 29th November and 14th December. Dealer unaware of these dates.

Hyundai have until Monday to supply a courtesy car.

If you use Twitter/Facebook etc add your complaints on there.

Next week blog articles will start.

This is simply outrageous.

Everybody should shout and scream, the least Hyundai can do is to make sure we have wheels whilst they sort out their problems

I might be the unfortunate winner!

Placed order on 6th April for a 2L Diesel 4x4 Premium with both pack in red.

Perhaps Hyundai should award me with a new vehicle, preferably an IX35 as ordered. Somehow I don't think so.

Out shopping tomorrow for another vehicle as have lost the will to live.

Anyone been waiting longer?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - AnotherWaiting

Crikey blimey, 7 months !!!!!!

Yep you definitely are the unfortunate winner so far. You have my sympathy and it just clarifies my thoughts on my 'johnny come lately' July order!

Unless I get a cancellation I guess I'm looking at February (to be in your position, without car!) . Well I would be if I don't cancel.

Anyone else with an April or even March!!! order?

Oh we can beat that! We ordered our Infra Red 2litre 4x4 with both packs on April 14th 2010 through BuyaCar. Still waiting and BuyaCar seem to have gone to ground. Anyone got anything that would cheer me up? Been looking for an alternative today but can't find anything like it I like. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp! HJ

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - maximum
Sadly I am not far off either. Ordered Infra red, 4WD Premium with the brown seat option on May 15. Hyundai have no idea when it will be made. Interesting it seems Infra Red and brown leather seats is obviously a problem. Can one assume the factory is waiting until there are enough red 4WD Premiums before they can be bothered to manufacture them in one 'block'. In which case i guess we could be waiting a few more months.

Hyundai uk will clearly have beaten their sales quota targets ( through very poor forecasting which has landed us all in this position) so i am sure they will all get nice big sales bonus whatever happens. They must be reading these forums and laughing themselves silly.

While it isn't for me to tell anyone not to buy an IX35, I would think anyone reading this forum should be able to make an informed decision.......

Like many of you feel stuck now. If order a new car could be another 6 months wait for something else.
Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Avant

Some of the car magazines, including a quarterly one published by Which? and available in newsagents, have mini-reviews of all available cars in each class. Most of them think there are better buys than the IX35.

Some of these also have waiting lists, but if you're not fussy about colour and are happy with the standard specification, there could be examples already in the UK (OK, maybe not IX35s) and which dealers can find online. It's noticeable that many of the people who have suffered the longest delays on their Hyundais have specific requirements that need a factory order: and there's the problem - far more factory orders than the factory can produce.

PS - come on someone - one more post and we're up to 400. Not perhaps the best publicity Hyundai has ever had....

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

If anyone still waiting looks on autotrader, in the uk there are about 10 premium demo's for sale, but only 2 have 4wd. I have only ever seen 1 with brown leather seats, which was my origional preference. I'm not sure i actually like it the more i look at it!!.As far as new cars go, i've never been more satisfied with any other car i've ever bought as much as the ix35. You can search high and low in this sector and there is nothing that even comes close to a top spec model of the ix35.You really have to live with one from day to day to realise why the demand is so high for this product. The 2 litre deisel is so silky, and i've never had an suv that drives like a normal car but with much more comfort. If you can find one go for 4wd. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - AnotherWaiting

Hear what you say regarding lead times from other manufacturers but the situation with the 2ltr diesel Ix35 is different as it’s an actual failure in supply. It’s clear we have people with orders more than five months old and the production of these cars isn’t even scheduled. That creates an ‘unknown’ … that’s different.

I looked at ford Kuga’s at the weekend. I grilled the dealer and was told that the most heavily bespoke combinations of options/spec which would obviously mean a factory order, would take 12 weeks. I also telephoned two Mitsubishi dealers regarding the ASX and was told that due to high demand if I ordered now it would be February. Both these cases are acceptable (normal) and there are no known issues with supply. What isn’t acceptable is to wait five or six months and have no idea if/when your car will even be built, never mind delivered.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Mandrake

Can I add myself to the list of dissatisfied customers for this car? My 2ltr diesel premium 4wd in Sirius Silver was ordered in July and on that day the dealer checked and advised a delivery of end September/Early October, on the order form it shows October 1st. I managed to get a discount on the price by showing what the Internet firms were charging and, in return, was given a short lecture by the Dealer on the benefits of dealer service, bricks and mortar places, not going to close down overnight etc. On that basis I placed my order.

First week in October I phoned the dealer to check the situation and was told it would be ‘nearer the end of the month’ Last Monday I phoned and was told that there was no information but they would check and call me this Monday when there would be some information. Of course, they didn’t call so late afternoon I phoned them and eventually got a call back saying, 'no news ring next Monday'. At this point I got very annoyed as I felt I was being fobbed off. Having made a fuss the guy said he'd check again and get someone further up the status tree to see what could be done. Today that guy called back and said he had no news and it would be 10 days before Hyundai issue the next production manifest, even then there was no guarantee that a delivery date would be known. Having made the point about VAT being increased in January which would mean an extra £400 or so, he just said that was a Governmental decision and they could do nothing about it. The point that an order placed in July ought to have been fulfilled by now seemed to escape him completely. I reminded him of the lecture about dealer service and he just brushed that off saying there was nothing they could do. The whole call was full of ’we can’t do this, can’t do that’ and in the end he gave me the Hyundai number to call and see if I could get across my frustration and anger at the direct. I haven’t called yet but will do so later this afternoon – anyone else done this and has it made any difference?

I feel sorry for the dealer being in this position as there are obviously plenty of others just as angry as me but I really don’t feel that they are able to do anything at all other than take orders for cars which won’t be delivered for several months and Hyundai are taking customers' patience for granted.

I’d love to cancel the order but I have no car and to trawl around trying to find something suitable in stock before the end of the year seems a very daunting task.

This is a time for collective action.

I'm taking legal advice to see where we stand.

I received a "joke" email from Hyundai customer services this afternoon. That took 10 days to obtain.

The dealers are in a dreadful position as Hyundai is not communicating but that should not be our problem.

To compound matters Masterlease and Hyundai have parted company and contract hire is now been underwritten by Bank of Scotland and it seems higher rates apply - or is there a kick back ?

I have the UK MD's name and that's my next step, followed by contact with world HQ.

I can't belief that Hyundai are prepared to accept on going brand damage and need to step up to the plate and compensate those that find themselves in this position through no fault of there own.

I encourage each and everyone of you to keep detailed records on your individual stories and get written confirmations from your dealers who are in a catch 22 position.

I've been posting my complaints on Facebook which has at least forced some responses. Here is the link. http://www.facebook.com/hyundaiuk you may need to hit a few links at the top - it is the middle one you want.

If any of you know any journalists let me know. I have contacts at the Telegraph and Mail and will be contacting them.

I've been round the block a few times but have never been treated in such a cavalier manner.

Hyundai obviously don't remember or don't care what happened to Hoover or more recently Toyota when they misread public reaction to being misled.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - maximum

Dear 'Ihatehyundai' and others if interested

You may wish to be aware that for the first November build run (there is a run every 2 weeks), Hyundai are only scheduling to build 30 of the 1700 backlog UK orders for Hyundai IX35 Premiums. No you did not misread that sadly, the rest of the production is for other versions and other countries!! So i think you can probabaly guess how long it might be before you get yours if you ordered a Premium as opposed to a Style or one of the new 1.7diesels. If you are thinking about buying an IX35 now, think very very carefully indeed.

Secondly, feel free to write to Tony Whitehorn Hyundai UK MD. Be aware however the policy now is not to respond directly from his office to correspondence any longer. Your mail will now be forwarded from his office to a Hyundai Customer Service representive who has the unpleasant task of writing back on his behalf to say Hyundai cant tell you anything and please ask your dealer, all very sorry. Oh and that takes roughly 7-10 days now, one assumes because of the volume of correspondence form unhappy customers.

You asked if anyone knew any journalists. i dont, but if you would like a suggestion, you could write to Anne Robinson at BBC1 Watchdog and suggest that they investigate these forums and contact the MD of Hyundai UK and invite him for an interview.

Enjoy

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Mandrake

If the MD is now ignoring valid communications from customers it shows how little respect they have. If they were short of business they'd be begging for customers to place orders and to schedule only 17 of the already overdue orders shows pure contempt. Sadly I have no media contacts but, since my ‘dealer’ couldn't even give me any info, I’ll be phoning them in the morning to ask if they are aware of just how awful the situation has become.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - karl66

When we were waiting for our ix35, we got so fed up we emailed tony whitehorn direct after his live forum chat. this got us an immediate response and we were driving ours 1 week after. It does seem like the goalposts have been moved again regarding delivery. I did think it was getting better, and the backlog was going down.I know the frustrations as i waited over 5 months. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - BARABBAS

Hi Maximum could I ask you who gave you this infomation about the November build list

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - maximum

it was a transcript from Huyndai Supply Department at beginning of the week.

also - i notice from one of your earleir posts, you thought they didnt want to tell people when their cars would be arriving in case people cancelled orders. Sadly, I doubt this one a little, as frankly it would suit them better if we did cancel on the grounds that they would then have less dis-satisfied customers in the queue, the dealers almost certainly wouldnt cancel the original orders to make sure they still got the cars, which they could then flog to new customers at the new higher prices and Hyundai would get more margin from a) higher prices and b) not having to pay out the concessions of free accessories etc they have already signed up to. Hense why one of my earlier posts i said Mr Whitehorn and Hyundai execs must be laughing their heads off everytime they read these forums, they simply cant loose either way.......

Hi , I am sorry to say that I ordered my ix-35 top of the range with all extras, on may 16th and still have no confirmed dates of delivery. I have also had to spend about £3500 keeping my Santa Fe going, mot, engine repair , new clutch, fly wheel etc and have had to hire cars when it is off the road,. If Hyundai had to ld me that it would take over 6 months and counting to deliver thier car I would be driving another make right now. Customer care are telling the Car Suppliers to off load those who are waiting and sell thier cars to new customers. Hyundai customer care is as poor as it gets right now and they feel that becuase of demand there are plenty mugs like me to buy thier cars. A fantastic company going down hill by the day. Hyundai had a compensation scheme for those early buyers pre march 2010 of £500 worth of accessories therfore they already new that they had a delay issue, but continued to sell. I am so saddened wuth thier attitude, and at least £3.5 k out of pocket.

Just to add another (one of apparently many) voice to this thread. I ordered my iX35 Premium 2.0CRDi 2WD Premium in Sirius Silver (no packs) back in mid June when both the High Wycombe dealer (the local one to Hyundai's UK HQ) and my Lease company who I ended by ordering from were quoting 8 to 12 weeks delivery. In July was told that car was due for delivery end August, but would be handed to me in September on the new plate. Then on 1st September, I was told it would it would probably be a Xmas delivery 'due to delays based on overwhelming demand'!

I have since had ongoing email exchanges with Hyundai UK, all to no avail. Just to add fuel to the fire of injustice, I have yesterday been informed that delivery is now expected to be Jan/Feb '11. Oh and by the way, the £500 accessories 'goodwill gesture' was only offered to those who ordered prior to 13th May this year, irrespective of how long anyone after this date is going to have to wait for their car.

Therefore, in like mind with a very recent post, and in utter despair I too have written to BBC Watchdog. It remains to be seen whether they have more effect on Hyundai than we seem to have.

I have been read lots of post were orders placed after June, i have realised there is actually no order on when which car is being built,

One of my friends place order on June 3rd (4wd, machine silver, Media pack, premium), still awaiting car

Another June 8th (4wd black, no packs, premium) still waiting

another one place order on July 5th, (4wd, machine silver, Media pack, premium) got the on the 13th Oct

Another one order placed May end (don't have date)( 4wd, machine silver, both packs, premium) got it on end oct

ALL ARE THE CARs WHICH WERE FACTORY MADE FOR THEM, not canceled orders (as advise from sales person)

Has anybody had any new information on 'build lists' in the last few days from their dealer?

I believe they received new information yesterday (Tuesday) regarding the remainder of November.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Joon79

I spoke to my dealership yesterday and they said they were getting an updated build list today so he is ringing me tomorrow to let me know what is happening with my order.

I've expressed my concerns about the open ended wait and was told that he had spoken to Hyundai UK and my car is number 2 in the build queue! whether or not this is true, we shall see....

Still find it amazing that they cant plan further forward than a two week build manifest and at least start putting some expectations to people regarding build dates...

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - BARABBAS

Hi Joon79 I have had my car on order from June 29th and have still not got a build date but I have been told I was back order number 34 then 29 and the last time I was told 24 that was over a week

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - howmuchlonga!

I was told mine was actually built in September, but guess what.....!!!

My dealer is checking the Hyundai crystal ball for an update....???

...Apparently Hyundai have similar software that the premium bonds use for predicting their prize winners, instead of ERNIE Hyundai have called it RONG or "Random Back Order Number Generator...!!!

Hyundai would have more luck predicting this Saturdays winning lotto numbers than our deliver dates!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Here's hoping

Hi all

Been watching this thread for a while and thought I would get onboard with everyone else.

I ordered our Cassa white Premium with both packs on 18th May and along with everyone else am still waiting for a build date. I was told last month that my car was number 17 on back order. When I spoke to Hyundai Uk last week I was told that my car was not on the current build list but there is a mid month list that comes out this week so to check back again tomorrow!

Just to make things even more interesting, my dealer called to say that Hyundai had offered a one time deal where they would have given us a Santa Fey of the same spec for the same price as we are paying for the IX35. This deal apparently ran for only 24hrs, till tea time yesterday. I was at work so missed out but at the end of the day if I had wanted a Santa Fey I would have bought one in the first place! I do have an idea though. Since they are offering me a car with nearly £5000 knocked off, how about I wait for the car I originally ordered and they can knock the money of that instaed as recompense!

To say that the car was origionally supposed to arrive in August I am, along with alot of people disgusted with the service Hyundai have provided. I have nothing but sympathy for our dealer who has tried to help as much as possible but are in the same position as me with the total lack of communication from the suppliers.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - maximum

Hi Here's Hoping

Interesting! i ordered same day in May. still waiting. not on the November second half build run so now got to wait until December and round and round we go!! also was offered Sante Fey couple of weeks ago on same basis. i also turned down as a) had i wanted a bigger more petrol guzzling vehicle, with higher road tax and insurance and less features, I would have ordered one...... and b) because this would have suited Hyundai massively as they would have dumped one of their end of range cars on me, as the car is old their margin/profit is massive so they could give it away like this and still make more than on the IX35 i have ordered....and then go on to sell my IX35 at the new higher price to a new customer and also save themselves the consessions they have had to give away so far on the IX35 order. So...they would make even more money if we took the Sante Fey !!!!!!! Oh and one less unhappy customer on their long IX35 waiting list, if they even care. This is not an act of good will by Hyundai this hard nosed good business. Money first, customer satisfaction last.

So....guess we have to keep waiting for what we ordered. despite all this am in a relatively balanced mood about it all. Hyundai have simply proved themselves (and continue to do so) to be no more than what one would expect to be of a major auto manufacturer...money grabbing, opportunisitic, deceiptful, customer unfriendly...bla bla bla. they dont care so no point getting angry, it wont make any difference. why should anyone be surprised.

All good fun!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - fingers crossed
well, the great day dawned and the car looked superb when we arrived at Hyundai of Belmont to collect it. A great handover from Ian Williams the dealer. so many gadgets to get the hang of but bluetooth and sat nav all good to go even on our short drive home. been out and about this afternoon and i LOVE IT so keep the faith. we waited exactly 6 months but now I am driving it all that fustration has gone away. good luck.

I collected my 1.7 diesel premium with media pack in cassa white yesterday (18th Nov.)from Evans Halshaw Gateshead, the hand over was 1st class. I could'nt wait to drive it home,i ordered it 29th oct. The car was already in Tilbury so all i had to wait for was the delivery from there to the dealer and there PDI and preperation. I know its only one day since i have had car but it drives beautifully, it also looks fantastic in the Cassa White.

Here,s hoping all those waiting dont have to wait much longer. All the best.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - AnotherWaiting

Yep, there is no problem with supply of 1.7 diesel at all.

I want to tow and my wife needs 4wd due to her commute to an area thats bad in winter so like many I'm sure, I wanted a 2ltr diesel.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - AlleyCat`

Out of curiosity has anyone had the chance to compare the 2 litre diesel to the 1.7 in terms of general refinement.

Obviously it would be of little use to anyone wanting a 4x4 / towing capability - i just wondered how they compare.

I would also guess for people on "pre-price increase" the 2 litre diesel would be about the same price as what the 1.7 is now going for anyway?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - AnotherWaiting

I can only theorise but with 114 bhp and 0-60 in 12.4 seconds I'm sure its absolutely fine in general driving conditions.

I guess if you lived in a hilly area it might not be ideal.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - hethasda

my story is pretty much same old same old, ordered 2/05/10.now over six months waiting. told the usual from dealer and from phone calls and emails from Hundai UK, NO build date as yet. got told getting £500 accs. now we are getting near the time for VAT increase.sorry if i missed something here, but my dealer Phoenix glasgow told me they have already paid Hyundai for the cars they took deposits for.so how can they charge more vat.as far as im aware im still getting my trade in price so im just sitting waiting, and waiting ,and waiting, but for how long??? never got offered sante fe,or 1.7 diesel as alternative. so im still b***** waiting thanks

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - howmuchlonga!

My dealer has now confirmed that I will not see my vehicle delivered in 2010.If it gets delivered in January (and my build number hasnt changed in the past 2 months!!!!!!) then I will have been waiting 8 months....!!!!!!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - barkeyo

@ Shoudlhave

Ditto, see my earlier post regarding the last update from my supplier! Looks like most customers for 2L Diesel who placed orders from mid May onwards are going to have to suffer deliveries in 2011. Which makes my wait around the same as yours given I've been told possibly Feb. Did you by any chance get the £500 accessories gesture out of them?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - howmuchlonga!

Yes I have been offered the £500 goodwill gesture, but it took a snotty letter to Hyundai to get it!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Dougie P

Hi hethasda

Is it the phoenix motors in "Phoenix paisley" if so you and I are the two longest waiting right now. I have just been offerred £500 off the cost, (not accessories) or buy a santa Fe of similar spec but roughly at the same cost. The customer care folk are way out of thier depth as I was telling my advisor of what was happening. hyundai need to know that it is not just the wait it is the cost pof the wait, I am out '£3500 keeping my old santa fe on the road.

we should keep ourselves informed.

Cheers

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - hethasda
hi dougiep
yip its the very same, linwood. never gotroffered £500 off the price but did get accsy. but my question still remains about the VAT increase. sales manager informs me that they have paid Hyundai for the cars,so they dont get paid till we get our cars. so, they must be running at a massive loss just now as i,m informed they have 30plus waiting. mines is cassa white premium (no packs) i emailed HUK yesterday, again.there has now been 30k plus viewers to this post.all bad publicity as far as i can see. hey, remember in aug/sept, we were told. HUK spending £500k to ship in 2.0L ENGINES FOR uk. what a laff. cheers
Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - fingers crossed

Yep, there is no problem with supply of 1.7 diesel at all.

I want to tow and my wife needs 4wd due to her commute to an area thats bad in winter so like many I'm sure, I wanted a 2ltr diesel.

When i had a test drive it was a 2lt that i drove and i was impressed and obviously the 1.7 being less bhp will not be as powerful but the few miles i have driven so far i honestly could'nt tell the difference, but there will be. Im sure you will find a difference if you are towing, as i am just doing general driving.(Retired)

I was told that they were not allowed to put another order in for a ix35 until march 2011, that was any engine or spec.

The car itself is great ive been driving for over 40 years and i have never been more thrilled picking a new car up and driving it, totally impressed, i will post again after a few more miles.

Hope yours turns up soon.

After you have waited so long for your Hyundai and Kia models a whole new range was announced in this weeks Autobild Nr 46 19/11/2010 and to my dismay they look very nice. The whole old range is available (LHD) at Autoland in Germany at very discounted prices.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - AnotherWaiting

useful as ever.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - AnotherWaiting

Actually I can’t seem to find any pictures of the new Ix35? Had a look at autobild.de and a good search on google but I can’t find any.

Any chance you can post a link to some pictures of the new Ix35 so we can see the difference between the old and new. I assume it’s a radical change if you like how it looks?

I was wondering, if an Ix35 on (outstanding) order isn’t built yet would they still build it to the old model spec? therefore having two models in production?

I wouldn’t consider buying a LHD for the UK and I’d surprised if anyone else would.

Cheers.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - barkeyo

I couldn't find any reference to a new iX35 in the latest Autobild, just a little coverage of the new iX20 Blue. So any direct quotes or pics that you have would be appreciated. I'm not sure that they would revise the range this soon after launch, other than the recent engine additions of the 1.7 Diesel and 1.6 Petrol.

@ Shouldhave

What date did you place your order? Just for the sake of my sanity, was it before 13th May? In which case this may be why you managed to get the £500 accessories gesture.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Here's hoping

If you look at the properties of the picture its from October 2009

"carshowp.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/HyundaiIX35_2.jpg"

"_2" refers to the picture number.

Most likely one of a few 'concept' pictures before the car was put into production.

If there was a new model, surely it would be easy enough to find a currently dated article with pictures somewhere on t'internet ?

I have also been watching this thread and it is time to add another fed up potential customer to the list - Cassa White 4wD ordered 22nd June zero response or information from the dealers. Then in October i sent an e mail to Hyundai and they phoned me and said they would look into some compensation and that this would be dealt with through the dealers in November and it maybe be possible that an updated build list would be available, they also apologised and said they are doing everything to maintain their reputation LOL .

Dealers never phoned so contacted again 13th November nothing - e mailed Hyundai again - nothing - i give up .

I can confirm this was a picture of the original concept car which was first shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and from which the iX35 eventually arrived. There are a number of pictures of the concept car including the earlier design artwork kicking round internet, so no we are still waiting for the one and only version. Though there are some regional variations. Eg Ireland and Australia both get a lovely metallic blue colour option 'Oil or Ocean Blue' and the side detailing is different at the door bottoms where they have an interesting moulded panel which flows up and along the length of the car's side and blends into the line of the lower plastic trim on the wraparound bumper.

just an update. took delivery of my IX35 10 days ago. originally ordered 4wd premium with both packs on may 17th.
was offered car with all features I originally ordered except for leather seats so opted for this one to save waiting any longer.
first tank of petrol comprised 2 long runs of 65 miles each and the rest stop/start driving, averaged 37mpg so was happy with that.

some issues with phone functionality, having a bluetooth phone is not necessarily enough to achieve full availability of all the features of the phone system.
you can download a list of the compatible phones off the hyundai website.

all in all i am very very pleased with the car and it has been worth the wait.

such a great ride and steering wheel controls are so easy.
sat nav is very responsive and ready to go as soon as engine starts.

car is very comfortable in each seating position.

not tried ipod yet as have music on memory stick in the usb port which works well

hang in there if you can!

Also been following this thread since July 10. I ordered my premium 4x4 in cassa white with both packs on April 21st, had email delivery saying August and saying car in transit, then cancelled and all the excuses as per previous postings. I'm using a broker won't name and shame but I know they are following this thread and have posted on here supporting what a good vehicle the IX35 is.. I actually couldn't care now, it's not a Bentley or Porsche and me and my family still have no news. The service from Hyundai is disgraceful. I actually think that because I've ordered via a broker and probably fleet service we've been bumped down the list, it could take forever, whilst the private sales are fullfilled. I'm actually thinking of pulling my order and going for an Audi Q5 which was my first choice vehicle, however Hyundai test drive won me over.. but have now really lost me on the terrible service and customer relations. If I'm being had over for the VAT increase too then I'd rather pay it for my first choice vehicle. Ho Hum... do I win for the longest wait? Also, the other negative is the poor satnav and fuel consumption appears to be no-where near the quoted figures.

Disgruntled to say the least.

PS - have also written to watch dog and am thinking of letting my cousin know who writes for the Guardian and is a Journo!! Name and shame Hyundai in the Press I say,.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Joon79

Well I have ended up cancelling my order this morning with my local dealer. They had been trying to find out a build date for my car from Hyundai but rang back and said that there is currently no build date available. I appreciate the honesty but its an unbelievable lack of information from Hyundai.

As neither the dealer or myself have a clue when the car might turn up, I'm going to hunt around for something else that is in stock that I can go and pick up asap.

Good luck to all those that are still waiting, I hope you get your cars shortly.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - slowman

Hi, we ordered our IX35 at the start of June (Premium, 4wd & all the packs), just been told by Hyundai that they can't tell us when it will be built. When asked Customer Service about compensation we were told that was between local dealer and their area manager, and it will not be decided until the car is delivered as they will review how long we have waited for the car. When asked about VAT increase in 2011 have been told we can pre-pay now in full to avoid this otherwise we are liable for the additional VAT. By pre-paying it doesn't put you any further up the list.

I am shocked by the treatment shown by Hyundai Customer Service. We are going to cancel our order and look elsewhere as Hyundai are not a company we will ever do business with again. Dealer has said we can have our deposit back.

Very disappointing end to the excitement of buying our first new car.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - barkeyo

Just a note regarding the fuel consumption figures... I'm wondering whether they've just got the Engine Management System settings wrong at the moment. The same 2.0 Chain Cam diesel engine is also available in 'High Output' mode with the new Auto Gearbox available on the 4WD variants, which adds 47Bhp to the power available (181), 9mph to the top speed (121), and shaves a sec and a half off the 0-60 time (9.8), but knocks the official combined consumption figures MPG down to 39-40mpg from the 'low output' (48-50).

Hmmm?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Maltese

To help me and others with a worst case scenario who holds the record for the longest wait for an ix35 past or present? I will throw my hat in the ring. 6 months with no build date or a hope of delivery. I'm sure there are longer ones than that !

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - barkeyo

@ Maltese

I've seen recent quotes of April orders still awaiting delivery or build dates, so that's 7 months and counting. Me personally i'm on 6 months at mo too, but been recently provided with 'expected' date of Jan/Feb, so that'll be 7 or 8 months... as long as they mean 2011!!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - silenceisnotgolden

Thought I would add my ' two pence' worth now I have found this thread.

Ordered my 'bog standard' 2WD 'style' 2 litre diesel in machine silver at my nearest dealer on 27th July. Reading others 'posts' I now realise I have many weeks or months still to wait. I probably will miss the '60' plate completely! What a total shambolic effort by Hyundai concerning the lack of honest information to any client or even their dealers . I have no build date or £500 goodwill gesture to date.

I did e-mail Tony Whitehorn on 4th October and a Customer Services department somewhere in the Midlands did ring to give me a Case Number and promise to keep me fully informed in the future but as I expected, they never phoned again. I sent T.W. another e-mail on 4th November but todate, this also has been met with stoney silence. How dare the 'powers to be' at Hyundai treat their Customers with such contempt.

What a great experience and excitement this is buying a new car from Hyundai - Not!

Incidentally, other than at the Dealers, I have never seen another IX35 on the roads of Norfolk! This car does exist doesn't it? - Sorry for the sarcasm.

Hope all you people get your cars soon.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - barkeyo

@ silenceisnotgolden

Hyundai UK is based in High Wycombe, where I and my nearest Hyundai dealership are, not that it makes any difference. The only iX35s I see are the ones parked in their HQ carpark which I drive past everyday on my journey into work!

Recent emails to Mr Whitehorn re the delays are being palmed off to their customer services agents, who end up ignoring further communication anyway. So not much point in that.

I suggest a letter or email to BBC Watchdog, which a few others on this thread including me have now done.

Good luck.

Hi guys had to take my black santa fe in to my dealer today for a repair I asked for an update on my new car ix35 2lt 4wd premium with individual & media packs in cassa white been on order 21 weeks and there was still no news then my dealer said he had a cancellation 2lt 4wd premium with media pack in black pearl so I have taken it as the only two colours out of the six on offer was either white or black for me and my last two cars have been black and I can live without the individual pack I will pick it up next Thursday

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Nick of Cambridge

Hi fellow sufferers. Have been following this thread for several months, have been waiting since 14 June for a Style 2.0 Diesel 2WD., originally expected beginning of September delivery. My dealership Marshalls in Cambridge have been very pleasant throughout but unable to give me any hard info at all..

They have just told me that, according to Hyundai, my order has now advanced to "pole" or "prime" position : is that an expression anyone has heard before from Hyundai - Marshalls do not know what it means.... Marshalls say that, realistically, I have no hope of getting my car this year and will have to pay the VAT increase - and that Hyundai have withdrawn the £500 accessories deal for people like me.

They also say that they cannot offer me a 1.7 instead because they cannot find one anywhere

I feel locked into the car because of the trade- in deal which they say they will still honour although my existing car is already 6 months older - and is now costing me significant money to maintain.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - cornsey

Hi All

thought i'd add my bit to this forum.

my ix35 2.0 4wd in piston grey no packs was only ordered 1st september and a delivery date of 1st december was quoted by my dealer.as this date fast approaches i realise that delivery isnt going to happen and i have resigned myself to a 2011 delivery possibly even after the new 11 plate comes in.

good luck to all

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - AnotherWaiting

Hi cornsey,

I Don't know if you have viewed the Q&A session with Tony Whitehorn (UK MD) from September? (there is a link earlier on in the thread) but when asked in September what the (then) "current delay" was he answered that a car ordered then would be "produced" in Feb 2011.

Just a few posts up we have people with May orders (and one from April!) who have not got their cars yet and some have been informed that they are not scheduled to be built yet

I don't want to paint it black for you but don't even count on being one of the first on the road with a new 11 reg,.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - barkeyo

And just to bring some extra realism, unless you're one of the 'lucky' ones who manages to get offered a car from a cancelled order, then even once your car is built, it takes 3 weeks on a boat to get here, then around 1-2 weeks sat in Tilbury Docks while Hyundai do all the legal UK registration stuff, before the car even gets to the dealer. So if you work on adding at least a month to any highly dubious 'build' date you are given, then you can work out your best case scenario.

As posted previously I ordered mine on 14th June, and my latest supplier provided Hyundai 'expected' date is Jan/Feb 2011!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - rogue-trooper

be careful with deliveries after January. I just had my order for a Santa Fe brought forward but I did notice on the invoice that it basically said that January deliveries would mean extra VAT. I questioned whether this was right and dealer went on to say that this was the system that brought it up but thought that if deliveries were more than 6 months from order then yes, there would be an increase in VAT. Might be worth keeping an eye out for that one and any administrative nonsense that they might do.

Barkeyo - If delivery has to be within 6 months of order to still qualify for 17.5% VAT, you might want to talk to your dealer ASAP as your June order might not qualify. I guess maybe a credit and then re-invoice would get you another 6 months

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Howmuchlonger?

This situation is getting more ridiculous by the week. I can't believe some of you are still waiting for cars ordered April/May/June.

My Premium 4wd with Media pack was ordered 13th May and eventually delivered 20th October after a few missed dates.

I've got my car, which I have to say I'm extremely happy with, apart from poor MPG and a sat-nav which doen't take postcodes, but my blood's boiling for all of you who are still waiting. Hyundai certainly have a cheek still advertising the IX35 during Channel 5 film breaks. Hyundai are a farce.

And I've seen a rave review of the Kia Sportage in The Sun today - wonder how long Kia will make their customers wait for that!!!!

Good luck to you all still waiting - I'd like to say hang in there cos it really is a fab car, but you might need the patience of a saint!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - johnbo

Just had update from Hyundai.

Ordered Premium 4wd no packs in White begin June 8th.

Following mail to MD, National Sales Manager emailed me on the 15th Oct to say i was backorder 9 out of 44, hopefully build Nov for Dec delivery but no promises.

6 Weeks later i have been told i am Backorder [ yes you've guessed it number 9!!!

So have asked him to confirm that NO cars matching my order have been produced for 6weeks and am waiting for a reply.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Maltese

@johnbo

I have a 4wd no packs in white ordered 1st June. My dealer is being honest. They have told me they have NO build date or a clue on delivery! They are confident it will turn up when it's ready. Being realistic I'm now probably better off waiting for the 11 plate as the resale value is likely to be higher. Especially after we all end up paying the extra vat.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Hacked.Off

Hi all, I know it's a long shot but does anyone fancy a day of action / protest at Hyundai HQ.. even if it doesn't speed up our deliveries I think it would at least be a show of force from us "the disgruntled customers". At the moment we are all individuals with no power. Maybe Tony Whitehorn might like to answer questions and tell us why their customer service is so poor and why in this day and age they can't even give us build dates? I've no idea how many people are following this forum but it must be a good few? Anyway, just a thought about the get togehter as I can't stand being treated like some idiot who's willing to throw good money at poor service. Let me know your thoughts below.

There are only 5 4wd 2 ltr diesel cars in autotrader nationally.

No one has said they don't exist but 5 isnt very many is it.

or perhaps there are loads and everyone waiting on this thread is just making it up.

Didn't you get the £500 accessories offer from Hyundai on the basis of having ordered pre May 13th? I've got confirmation of this offer and cut off date in writing (email) from their Customer Service Centre Manager, a lady called Carole Campbell, which unfortunately didn't help me as I ordered June 14th.

My annoyance is that this cut-off date is so arbitrary as to be pointless. For those who ordered before the 13th May date and were possibly lucky enough to get their car after maybe 4 or 5 months, they still qualify for the gesture. Those who order a day after, but will have to wait 6, 7 or even 8 months given current estimates, don't. How ridiculous is that?!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - d.mcdowall01

Hi everyone who's waiting on their ix35, yes you may wait longer than january, febuary, march and so on for your specific built model, i ordered in july a cassa white premium with both packs & 4wd.

i was given 12 weeks from the dealer but Hyundai cant tell me when it will be built its not even in a que yet.

The Dealer Arnold Clark in Stirling have been completely honest with informing me of all communication with Hyundai, they have also secured the £500 of free accessories & they also offered the same spec Santa Fe at no extra cost, i declined the Santa Fe and will need to patiently wait for my car to be built.

the vat increase in january is a concern but the government wont budge on their increase, so i need to go with it or cancel the car, i want the car.

The ix35 has also risen in price since i reserved mine, its now over a £1000 more to new purchasers, my current vehicle has a set trade in price and that is depreciating whilst i wait with no loss to myself, so even though i may lose out on the vat increase i win with not paying the incresed purchase price and dont lose any further depreciation, the dealer stands that.

regarding the vat increase just hassle your dealer, you may be able to work something out with them, i will certainly be speaking to the General mgr at my dealership.

i have recently looked at other suv/crossover vehicles, wasted my time as all are way to expensive with fewer features and don't have the style of the ix35.

so im going to tough it out and be real patient until my ix35 is built, its what i describe as my dream car.

Thanks Arnold Clark in Stirling Scotland.

Hyundai, you need to resolve the delays and communicate better, also update your systems so people know where there car is in the que {be honest}

Hi Barkeyo, thanks for the reply, I did get a letter from my broker about the £500.00 accessories, the problem is I just don't believe anyone anymore. Like all of us we've been misled so many times. I asked for a brochure back in September about the accessories, nothing has arrived, no further offer or information has arrived and I'm sick of emailing and not getting replies. Myself and the family are that far down the road now, have had too many missed dates and annoyances that I feel if I cancel now it will have been a complete waste of 7 months of my life. I guess I'll just tough it out and hopefully when we get the car we can put the past behind us and enjoy it. I've already missed 2 family driving holidays because of non delivery and it doesn't even look as though it will be here in time for our annual get away over Xmas/New year. We were hoping the misery of last years bad weather would have been a thing of the past with the new car but oh no... we've that to contend with too! Shame on you Hyundai...

At least it's not snowing today in our area!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - maximum
Barkeyo - I think you will find the£500 offers were pretty random. I got £500 off the price (instead of for accessories) and I ordered mine later in may than the 13th. Also got offer of Santa fe upgrade at no cost, but turned down.

So I suspect whatever is offered is largely related to shouting for what you should get as opposed to company policy.

Well, the only company policy Hyundai have is to be totally money grabbing, lying, deceitful and totally customer unfriendly. The the Hyundai senior management team have more than hit their sales targets for the ix35 so they couldn't give a stuff about any customers now. We will get the cars when they can be bothered to make them. Whenever that is next year.

Hope you get your £500 sorted out.

Yeah - I'd be up for that .... been waiting since May for top spec IX35 .... appararently I was number 26 and they started production due end of Oct - now it's end of Dec! Crazy! Do you think certain larger dealers get preferential delieveries over smaller ones - becuase I think mine is the latter.

Very old article *dated* "19.02.2009" announcing the arival of the Ix35 in 2010

Translation of headline ....

""Which gives a taste of the iX35, who is scheduled from 2010 to succeed the Hyundai Tucson""

Also noticed it not from the autobild site?, surely it would be easier to provide a link from there as you have mentioned it many times

Still waiting.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - barkeyo

Nice one. Pick an article dated February 2009, which contains pictures of the original iX35 concept design, and states in the article text "commencing production in February" and designed by Hyundai's European "design centre in Rüsselsheimer", which is strangely when the existing iX35 started being manufactured and where it was designed.

Any more Andy? As that's just poor research and simple lazy regurgitation. If you can't read German, try using Google translator!

Had info back from HUK,

There will be NO production of any 4WD 2L D into the UK this side of Xmas, and info on Jan run due sometime next week.

So Happy Xmas!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - skidrow

having been out and about the last few days in the heavy snow and living at the highest area in central scotland i can safely say the 4wd ix35 is unstoppable.

the hill assist feature on the dash with the slanted led of a car also works excellent while coming down some steep hills in the snow. the car computer realises that you are gaining speed so it slows the car down automatically and keeps speed constant till you hit the accelerator again. i did not know what this feature was but i do now.

the car is top class. keep waiting and hope you all get yours soon.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - silenceisnotgolden

Hi johnbo.

Just shows how Hyundai give out inconsistant information to everyone. My Dealer sent me an e-mail today saying Hyundai allocations do not know what cars will be built for the U.K. for December for a few more days yet!

As far as the £500 'Goodwill' many of you mention, mine is to be discussed between my Dealer and Regional Manager, apparently upon delivery, to gauge exactly how long I will have waited'!!! So far its 18+ weeks and it will be at least another 8 weeks IMO. Will that be long enough for them? Probably not. It looks like the '11' plate is a real possibility though!

Hang in Guys.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - johnbo

Hi,

The info came from HUK National Operations Manager and to be fair all of the info he has supplied me since Oct has been accurate.

He said NO 4wd being produced for the UK market in Dec and they get to look at the Jan run next week.

Based on that i suspect no cars until late Jan early feb at the earliest.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - barkeyo

Ok, just to round this subject off, I have just had confirmation from Hyundai UK that until your specific car is allocated to UK stock, they are not able to confirm any kind of date. Therefore by extrapolation, any 'build schedule or expected' date provided by the dealer is complete pie in the sky unless the car is practically on the boat and in transit. Reason being they still have a backlog of over 2,000 vehicles for the UK alone.

Therefore unless you can obtain a statement from your dealer that your car has been built and is on its way, then treat any timescale with a huge pinch of salt. By default if your dealer hasn't given you catagoric assurance that your car is already inbound, then Jan/Feb is the earliest you'll see it.

So, johnbo, you are spot on.

Not even the MD knows what is going on....!

Taken from the Q&A session on 20/09/10

Tony Whitehorn:
Demand has outstripped supply. Originally we anticipated selling 2800 ix35's this year. We have already taken almost 5000 orders for the car, and this situation is mirrored everywhere else in Europe. It has been Hyundai’s fastest-selling car ever. Understandably this has placed a severe amount of pressure on the factory in trying to keep pace with demand. For them to double production in such a short period of time is very difficult. However we will have supplied 5000 ix35's by the end of the year, the factory has donw a great job. We are constantly trying to secure more production than we were originally allocated. Because of this it is very difficult to provide accurate delivery dates to everybody. We realise this is very frustrating but please bear with us.
Monday September 20, 2010

So, by the MD's own admission the 5000 who purchased before this date 20th September will have seen their vehicles delivered by the end of the year, sadly he didn't say by the end of which year..?? ?

May and still waiting!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - d.mcdowall01

Hi all you patient ix35 buyers, ive heard there will be an update late on monday 6th december, so some of us may be fortunate to obtain our long lost order.

{cant remember what it looks like anymore} wheres my car?

i wonder if Hyundai will find a fair amount of ix35's from somewhere just for the UK, when you think of the vat increase and the possible loss of orders they could just come up with the goods, i sure hope my instinct is right, get onto your dealer on monday evening.

i was thinking of going elsewhere for a differnt car but theres nothing that appeals to me, the Model i ordered has everything i need at a great price, other manufacturers cant guarantee delivery of there 4wd either, or offer the same spec.

for anyone wondering about the £500 of accessories just hassle your dealer.

as we all wait remember the price of the ix35 has gone up and our current vehicles continue to depreciate all at the dealers expense, so tough it out, i am.

The vat increase around 4th january 2011 is my biggest concern and not something i can do much about {government issue} however if the dealer can find out what your chassis number is you could pay for the car before the 4th to avoid the increase, but only do so if you are given a soon delivery date and can afford to pay out.

i had a dream 4,000 ix35's unload at the docks at xmas,

it turns into a nightmare as mines not there {wheres my car}

patiently waiting. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all

Just a quick message for all of us who are waiting for this illusive car. Have just spoken to my dealer and the salesman has just told me. Wait for it; all the big wigs at Hyundai UK and regional sales managers have just returned (today) from an all expences paid trip to New York. Thats right New York in America. This was a thank you for an excellent year of sales and profits. So its OK for them to live it up, but what about us poor customers who are being left in the lurch and having to argue to get a woeful offer of £500 pound of accessories and pay increase in VAT. I've been waiting for mine now since June 2nd and have been told March at the earliest. Am cancelling my order and taking my buisness elsewhere to a company that is customer focussed and not one who are having free holidays at our expence.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Maltese

Hi all

Just to remind you I ordered a casa white premium 4x4 ix35 on 1st June 2010. My london based dealer phoned me on Friday to advise me my car is expected to be delivered in March 2011. I believe they are being honest & realistic. I'm still going to hang on!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Westpig

If a company thinks it can make a better profit by selling an 'in demand' car elsewhere, (i.e. other places in Europe or beyond) whilst existing UK customers have to be fobbed off and wait, with no set timescales...at what point will you tell them to shove it where the son doesn't shine and buy something else?

Would that be 3 months, 6 months, a year?

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - fitlike

yes it will be worth it the ix35 is a great car i have a premium 4x4 in black. hang on all good things come to those who wait. the car just gets better all the time 10ins of snow no problem

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - ollyandsnig

Hi fitlike, I really hope you are right. I have been reading all the comments posted since my ix35 Premium in Sirius Silver did not arrive on Sept 1st (ordered on June 26). I have not joined in the discussion because I had nothing to add to what so many people were saying - until now that is. I like others got in touch with watchdog via their website (no reply), I regularly speak to Nikki at Hyundai customer services (nice lady) and my dealer Cooks in Peterborough who are as exasperated as I am. My part exchange has done some 3000 miles since the offer they made (and are sticking to), it becomes three year's old on January 8th and will need an MOT and be taxed, and if the ix35 delivery is delayed much longer it will need new tyres, something certainly not budgeted for. But joy of joy I spoke to Nikki again today and after hanging on the phone for a while she told me emphatically that my ix35 is being built on 16th December and will be at my dealer on 17th January. Even after reading all the comments I will take this as being truthful - but I will keep you posted. Happy Christmas

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - gazzer

Hello All

Well I too have just been informed that the latest delivery date is at least Feb 2011, (I ordered mid July). I had wanted the car for the winter bad. It does feel as though that after the extra 700 cars delivery has virtually stopped.

If you are reading this Hyundai then ask yourself if the policy of not coming clean about delivery dates in an attempt to keep the few orders you already have, is worth the damage to your reputation. They are not bringing in revenue because you are not honouring the deal, and the word is spreading.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - maximum

ollyandsnig and all

congratulations on the confirmation and i very much hope your car arrives.

it is interesting though as just yesterday i gatehred from dealer and hyundai that there were in fact NO, Zero, Nada IX35 with 2 ltr being manufactured at all in Decemeber. Indeed, there are still engine shipment issues and no confirmation of when next batch of engines will be shipped in January (let alone December). Hyundai have also informed dealers to specify that any new order must be quoted as standard lead time PLUS 3 months as a minimum, ergo 7 months. there are reputedly now some 8000 cars on backlog and with only 40 of the 2 ltr 4wd made in Nov, none in December and no schedule for Jan for reasons above, i am struggling to see when anything will hit the UK. i ordered mine in May!

But as posted on ealriers mails, the Hyundai UK sales and exec team (Tony W etc who made all those lovely worthless promises 2 months ago) will have earned a ton of bonus from beating their own s*** sales forecasts, so they will now be sitting back to a bumper xmas with not a care for the many thousands of customers they have deceived and utterly screwed over.

i genuinely hope your car does arrive on the appointed day in December as Hyundai customer whoever they are deserve some xmas good fortune.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Collos25

Most of the ix35 arriving in Germany seem to be the 1.7CRDi blue motion with stop start ,thats one that is being advertised in the press.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - bluemoon

ordered ix35 premium with both packs in july and now told it will be at least march before it arrives and may well be later. Also told that p/x offer for my car no longer valid. I have now been trying to buy a new car for 13 months and had similar poor experiences with toyota, skoda and mitsubishi - anything to not returning calls or arranging test drives, not sending information out or not being interested in p/x (4 year old prius).

Heard on the news the other day that sales of new cars are down by 11% - I'm surprised they are that good!

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - AlleyCat`

You should (if it suits) be able to the 1.7 model more readily. My local dealer swapped two orders of 2 litre models onto 1.7's and got them both in under 6 weeks.

I ended up going a different way as i didn't like the amount of noise the 1.7 made at motorway speeds (could be just my perception).

Generally the Crossover space is a pig to get a new vehicle at the moment (well as far as my experience anyway).

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery - Beauty and Efficiency Ha Ha

Hi Everyone

Not made any comments recently as I have been enjoying my Honda CRV which arrived in 3 weeks, just in time for the snow.

After 7 months of waiting Hyundai could not even give me a build date for my 2.0 l Premium with both packs. They hinted it would be into the new year, and were happy to refund my deposit!

The Honda has less kit and a shorter warrenty but the build quality is great and the engine more refined and quiet. Best of all it exists.

Good luck to those of you who hang on, but there are alternative that are of similar price which you can get without all the hassle.

hi all, i have been waiting since may 2nd, update.. got offered a 1.7 diesel in place of my 2.0 diesel.so i decided to take the 1.7 instead of waiting till march next yr. now heres the kicker. i lost my £500 accessories, and they are now telling me i might not be able to get the low rate finance on offer at the time of order, because they pulled it after they sold so many.. now , surely this is a trading standards matter,or at least ASA matter.i went in to buy the ix35 after seeing newspaper adverts offering low finance, deposit. £249/mth with ballon at the end. i was happy with that, and duly signed up.now with the seven mth wait, all finance deals on ix35 have disappeared. does anyone know where we stand on this cheers.

Your ix35 Premium 2.0 litre crdi 2wd no packs in Sirius Silver is the same spec as mine and as I reported earlier I was told the car would be built on December 16th and in the showroom 15th January. I rang Nikki at Hyundai customer support yesterday (17th Dec) she is going to ring me on Monday and hopefully confirm the build. You must get onto Hyundai and press hard for your accessories - they owe you. I ordered mine on 26th June and I have been given the £500 of accs. I will update after my phone call...

Thanks for the information I will get onto them after your next post If any other guys got the £500 accessories after 14th June it would be a help not only to myself but to the rest of the guys on this forum.

My dealer got conformation from the factory so they must have put a batch of Sirius Silver onto the line.once again thanks for the advice.

Hi all,
following my post ref 16th Dec build, I have now been told by Nikki at Hyundai Customer Support that the build was put off a few days due to the bad weather. Poor Nikki, she obviously has to believe what they are telling her but I am just beginning ever so slightly to have my doubts and that they are telling her porkies. Nikki has promised to update straight after Christmas. Will update when I hear. Still, my old car is filthy dirty and my new one is nice and warm and clean, but unfortunately not finished and not here.

Andy, and your point is what? Basically the article tells us that Hyundai have sold over 9,000 of the iX35 into Germany, and the new smaller capacity engines that have also been introduced into the UK (1.6 petrol and 1.7 diesel) are making the Ix35 even more affordable.

So, tell us anything we don't already know. The article goes on to tell us just how good the car is and how popular it is. Again, nothing new, oh and by the way it's still the same iX35 we all signed up to, so I believe we are all still waiting for you to come up with the 'New iX35' you told us was introduced after we placed our orders. All I think you've managed to do is tell us what we had already managed to work out for ourselves. i.e. the iX35 is popular, that it is a good car, and it's still the same one they launched in the UK earlier this year, so only a couple of new engine variants is all that's changed since then.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery some day - karl66

As previously mentioned we've had our 2lt premium 4wd for about 3 months and covered approx, 2600 mls. so far its been a complete dream to own, apart from the mpg issue!!. The last couple of days we have noticed a strange type of smell, like a burning clutch type of smell. Has anyone else had this , and could the smell be linked to the DPF filter at all. thanks karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery some day - aeu569v
Hi Karl, yes we had ours(4wd premium 1200 miles) for some 6 weeks great car !! mpg is awful averaging 27 mpg !!!and as you mention we also have a rancid burning smell on a few occasions, will be taken back after xmas for investigation.
Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery some day - karl66

Update, took car to dealer today , there technician drove the car and could not replicate the intermittant burning smell!!. They are going to send off a report to Hyundai to see what they suggest. Another worker there told me Hyundai realise there is a clutch problem with the ix35 but are trying to pass it off as a wear & tear issue!!. There was an ix35 with 4500mls on the clock in there garage, which apparantly Hyundai are arguing about because the clutch is knackered. If they try to pull this trick with me after spending £23k on a new car i'll go mental with them. karl.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery some day - Dutchie

£23k on a hyndunda? The mind boggles in a couple of years you be lucky to get 10 grand for one of them.People must have money to throw away. What is the saying what comes to mind in dutch.Veel stro weing koren.:)

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery some day - Collos25

And they make you wait months first before they let you have one its no wonder they have no sense of humour.

The smell from clutch was explained in a post recently I think it was from the clutch plate overheating and causing some constituent part to melt .

Duchie, i bet you also drive an old knacker like are other friend. My previous car was a 1 series 120d bmw which was purchased for £24k and 3 years later has a value of £13k so that argument holds no water as the retained value of the ix35 is expected to be better. I'm sure some of you Hyundai knockers are bitter ex amployees!!.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery some day - Collos25

Your only convincing yourself.

Hyundai ix35 - delayed delivery some day - karl66

For the record, i'm very pleased with the ix35 its a superb car , in everyway , hence the high demand for them. I just hope if things like the clutch issue become a known fault, they quickly own up and dont fob people off. By the way mr blair, the previous 1 series we owned was plaqued with a clutch judder almost from day one which bmw never resolved apart from fobbing us off with there latest software updates which only made the engine tickover faster and did not cure the clutch judder. I'm sure despite the long waiting lists the vast majority are pleased with there purchase. karl.
