Well I have ended up cancelling my order this morning with my local dealer. They had been trying to find out a build date for my car from Hyundai but rang back and said that there is currently no build date available. I appreciate the honesty but its an unbelievable lack of information from Hyundai.
As neither the dealer or myself have a clue when the car might turn up, I'm going to hunt around for something else that is in stock that I can go and pick up asap.

Hi, we ordered our IX35 at the start of June (Premium, 4wd & all the packs), just been told by Hyundai that they can't tell us when it will be built. When asked Customer Service about compensation we were told that was between local dealer and their area manager, and it will not be decided until the car is delivered as they will review how long we have waited for the car. When asked about VAT increase in 2011 have been told we can pre-pay now in full to avoid this otherwise we are liable for the additional VAT. By pre-paying it doesn't put you any further up the list.
I am shocked by the treatment shown by Hyundai Customer Service. We are going to cancel our order and look elsewhere as Hyundai are not a company we will ever do business with again. Dealer has said we can have our deposit back.
Very disappointing end to the excitement of buying our first new car.

Just a note regarding the fuel consumption figures... I'm wondering whether they've just got the Engine Management System settings wrong at the moment. The same 2.0 Chain Cam diesel engine is also available in 'High Output' mode with the new Auto Gearbox available on the 4WD variants, which adds 47Bhp to the power available (181), 9mph to the top speed (121), and shaves a sec and a half off the 0-60 time (9.8), but knocks the official combined consumption figures MPG down to 39-40mpg from the 'low output' (48-50).

To help me and others with a worst case scenario who holds the record for the longest wait for an ix35 past or present? I will throw my hat in the ring. 6 months with no build date or a hope of delivery. I'm sure there are longer ones than that !

I've seen recent quotes of April orders still awaiting delivery or build dates, so that's 7 months and counting. Me personally i'm on 6 months at mo too, but been recently provided with 'expected' date of Jan/Feb, so that'll be 7 or 8 months... as long as they mean 2011!!

Thought I would add my ' two pence' worth now I have found this thread.
Ordered my 'bog standard' 2WD 'style' 2 litre diesel in machine silver at my nearest dealer on 27th July. Reading others 'posts' I now realise I have many weeks or months still to wait. I probably will miss the '60' plate completely! What a total shambolic effort by Hyundai concerning the lack of honest information to any client or even their dealers . I have no build date or £500 goodwill gesture to date.
I did e-mail Tony Whitehorn on 4th October and a Customer Services department somewhere in the Midlands did ring to give me a Case Number and promise to keep me fully informed in the future but as I expected, they never phoned again. I sent T.W. another e-mail on 4th November but todate, this also has been met with stoney silence. How dare the 'powers to be' at Hyundai treat their Customers with such contempt.
What a great experience and excitement this is buying a new car from Hyundai - Not!
Incidentally, other than at the Dealers, I have never seen another IX35 on the roads of Norfolk! This car does exist doesn't it? - Sorry for the sarcasm.

Hyundai UK is based in High Wycombe, where I and my nearest Hyundai dealership are, not that it makes any difference. The only iX35s I see are the ones parked in their HQ carpark which I drive past everyday on my journey into work!
Recent emails to Mr Whitehorn re the delays are being palmed off to their customer services agents, who end up ignoring further communication anyway. So not much point in that.
I suggest a letter or email to BBC Watchdog, which a few others on this thread including me have now done.

If this is the reason for the mpg figures and my engine has the ability to produce a bonus 47bhp then I'd say my engine management settings are absolutely fine...... now where's my stopwatch? it's time my car was given a bit of a workout!!!

@Maltese, you make me feel like a newbie. I'm only at 4 months so far but it won't be built this year so its all relative.
I was told and my paper work states 'estimated delivery September' .... hilarious!

Hi guys had to take my black santa fe in to my dealer today for a repair I asked for an update on my new car ix35 2lt 4wd premium with individual & media packs in cassa white been on order 21 weeks and there was still no news then my dealer said he had a cancellation 2lt 4wd premium with media pack in black pearl so I have taken it as the only two colours out of the six on offer was either white or black for me and my last two cars have been black and I can live without the individual pack I will pick it up next Thursday

Hi fellow sufferers. Have been following this thread for several months, have been waiting since 14 June for a Style 2.0 Diesel 2WD., originally expected beginning of September delivery. My dealership Marshalls in Cambridge have been very pleasant throughout but unable to give me any hard info at all..
They have just told me that, according to Hyundai, my order has now advanced to "pole" or "prime" position : is that an expression anyone has heard before from Hyundai - Marshalls do not know what it means.... Marshalls say that, realistically, I have no hope of getting my car this year and will have to pay the VAT increase - and that Hyundai have withdrawn the £500 accessories deal for people like me.
They also say that they cannot offer me a 1.7 instead because they cannot find one anywhere
I feel locked into the car because of the trade- in deal which they say they will still honour although my existing car is already 6 months older - and is now costing me significant money to maintain.

my ix35 2.0 4wd in piston grey no packs was only ordered 1st september and a delivery date of 1st december was quoted by my dealer.as this date fast approaches i realise that delivery isnt going to happen and i have resigned myself to a 2011 delivery possibly even after the new 11 plate comes in.

I Don't know if you have viewed the Q&A session with Tony Whitehorn (UK MD) from September? (there is a link earlier on in the thread) but when asked in September what the (then) "current delay" was he answered that a car ordered then would be "produced" in Feb 2011.
Just a few posts up we have people with May orders (and one from April!) who have not got their cars yet and some have been informed that they are not scheduled to be built yet
I don't want to paint it black for you but don't even count on being one of the first on the road with a new 11 reg,.

And just to bring some extra realism, unless you're one of the 'lucky' ones who manages to get offered a car from a cancelled order, then even once your car is built, it takes 3 weeks on a boat to get here, then around 1-2 weeks sat in Tilbury Docks while Hyundai do all the legal UK registration stuff, before the car even gets to the dealer. So if you work on adding at least a month to any highly dubious 'build' date you are given, then you can work out your best case scenario.
As posted previously I ordered mine on 14th June, and my latest supplier provided Hyundai 'expected' date is Jan/Feb 2011!

be careful with deliveries after January. I just had my order for a Santa Fe brought forward but I did notice on the invoice that it basically said that January deliveries would mean extra VAT. I questioned whether this was right and dealer went on to say that this was the system that brought it up but thought that if deliveries were more than 6 months from order then yes, there would be an increase in VAT. Might be worth keeping an eye out for that one and any administrative nonsense that they might do.
Barkeyo - If delivery has to be within 6 months of order to still qualify for 17.5% VAT, you might want to talk to your dealer ASAP as your June order might not qualify. I guess maybe a credit and then re-invoice would get you another 6 months

This situation is getting more ridiculous by the week. I can't believe some of you are still waiting for cars ordered April/May/June.
My Premium 4wd with Media pack was ordered 13th May and eventually delivered 20th October after a few missed dates.
I've got my car, which I have to say I'm extremely happy with, apart from poor MPG and a sat-nav which doen't take postcodes, but my blood's boiling for all of you who are still waiting. Hyundai certainly have a cheek still advertising the IX35 during Channel 5 film breaks. Hyundai are a farce.
And I've seen a rave review of the Kia Sportage in The Sun today - wonder how long Kia will make their customers wait for that!!!!

Just had update from Hyundai.
Ordered Premium 4wd no packs in White begin June 8th.
Following mail to MD, National Sales Manager emailed me on the 15th Oct to say i was backorder 9 out of 44, hopefully build Nov for Dec delivery but no promises.
6 Weeks later i have been told i am Backorder [ yes you've guessed it number 9!!!
So have asked him to confirm that NO cars matching my order have been produced for 6weeks and am waiting for a reply.

I have a 4wd no packs in white ordered 1st June. My dealer is being honest. They have told me they have NO build date or a clue on delivery! They are confident it will turn up when it's ready. Being realistic I'm now probably better off waiting for the 11 plate as the resale value is likely to be higher. Especially after we all end up paying the extra vat.

Hi all, I know it's a long shot but does anyone fancy a day of action / protest at Hyundai HQ.. even if it doesn't speed up our deliveries I think it would at least be a show of force from us "the disgruntled customers". At the moment we are all individuals with no power. Maybe Tony Whitehorn might like to answer questions and tell us why their customer service is so poor and why in this day and age they can't even give us build dates? I've no idea how many people are following this forum but it must be a good few? Anyway, just a thought about the get togehter as I can't stand being treated like some idiot who's willing to throw good money at poor service. Let me know your thoughts below.

I can confirm this was a picture of the original concept car which was first shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and from which the iX35 eventually arrived. There are a number of pictures of the concept car including the earlier design artwork kicking round internet, so no we are still waiting for the one and only version.

Yes I do understand you are waiting for a car and there is the almost identical version for sale on Autotrader,my question is were have these cars come from that they can offer them for sale while customers are waiting.Straight forward question.

There are only 5 4wd 2 ltr diesel cars in autotrader nationally.
No one has said they don't exist but 5 isnt very many is it.
or perhaps there are loads and everyone waiting on this thread is just making it up.
Perhaps the MD of Hyundai took part in a Q & A session regarding delivery delay back in September by mistake.

I might not be a fan of Hyundai but I resent your insuations if you go to the autobild site and at the top right hand corner put Hyundai in the search you will find all the reports there.How anybody can get so worked up over a piece of tin I do not know.If you are so desperate for a 4wd 35 Hyundai s own uk web site has some with 25miles on the clock plus the ones on autotrader just how many do you want.

Didn't you get the £500 accessories offer from Hyundai on the basis of having ordered pre May 13th? I've got confirmation of this offer and cut off date in writing (email) from their Customer Service Centre Manager, a lady called Carole Campbell, which unfortunately didn't help me as I ordered June 14th.
My annoyance is that this cut-off date is so arbitrary as to be pointless. For those who ordered before the 13th May date and were possibly lucky enough to get their car after maybe 4 or 5 months, they still qualify for the gesture. Those who order a day after, but will have to wait 6, 7 or even 8 months given current estimates, don't. How ridiculous is that?!

Hi everyone who's waiting on their ix35, yes you may wait longer than january, febuary, march and so on for your specific built model, i ordered in july a cassa white premium with both packs & 4wd.
i was given 12 weeks from the dealer but Hyundai cant tell me when it will be built its not even in a que yet.
The Dealer Arnold Clark in Stirling have been completely honest with informing me of all communication with Hyundai, they have also secured the £500 of free accessories & they also offered the same spec Santa Fe at no extra cost, i declined the Santa Fe and will need to patiently wait for my car to be built.
the vat increase in january is a concern but the government wont budge on their increase, so i need to go with it or cancel the car, i want the car.
The ix35 has also risen in price since i reserved mine, its now over a £1000 more to new purchasers, my current vehicle has a set trade in price and that is depreciating whilst i wait with no loss to myself, so even though i may lose out on the vat increase i win with not paying the incresed purchase price and dont lose any further depreciation, the dealer stands that.
regarding the vat increase just hassle your dealer, you may be able to work something out with them, i will certainly be speaking to the General mgr at my dealership.
i have recently looked at other suv/crossover vehicles, wasted my time as all are way to expensive with fewer features and don't have the style of the ix35.
so im going to tough it out and be real patient until my ix35 is built, its what i describe as my dream car.

Hi Barkeyo, thanks for the reply, I did get a letter from my broker about the £500.00 accessories, the problem is I just don't believe anyone anymore. Like all of us we've been misled so many times. I asked for a brochure back in September about the accessories, nothing has arrived, no further offer or information has arrived and I'm sick of emailing and not getting replies. Myself and the family are that far down the road now, have had too many missed dates and annoyances that I feel if I cancel now it will have been a complete waste of 7 months of my life. I guess I'll just tough it out and hopefully when we get the car we can put the past behind us and enjoy it. I've already missed 2 family driving holidays because of non delivery and it doesn't even look as though it will be here in time for our annual get away over Xmas/New year. We were hoping the misery of last years bad weather would have been a thing of the past with the new car but oh no... we've that to contend with too! Shame on you Hyundai...
At least it's not snowing today in our area!

Barkeyo - I think you will find the£500 offers were pretty random. I got £500 off the price (instead of for accessories) and I ordered mine later in may than the 13th. Also got offer of Santa fe upgrade at no cost, but turned down.
So I suspect whatever is offered is largely related to shouting for what you should get as opposed to company policy.
Well, the only company policy Hyundai have is to be totally money grabbing, lying, deceitful and totally customer unfriendly. The the Hyundai senior management team have more than hit their sales targets for the ix35 so they couldn't give a stuff about any customers now. We will get the cars when they can be bothered to make them. Whenever that is next year.
Hope you get your £500 sorted out.

Yeah - I'd be up for that .... been waiting since May for top spec IX35 .... appararently I was number 26 and they started production due end of Oct - now it's end of Dec! Crazy! Do you think certain larger dealers get preferential delieveries over smaller ones - becuase I think mine is the latter.

Nice one. Pick an article dated February 2009, which contains pictures of the original iX35 concept design, and states in the article text "commencing production in February" and designed by Hyundai's European "design centre in Rüsselsheimer", which is strangely when the existing iX35 started being manufactured and where it was designed.
Any more Andy? As that's just poor research and simple lazy regurgitation. If you can't read German, try using Google translator!

There will be NO production of any 4WD 2L D into the UK this side of Xmas, and info on Jan run due sometime next week.

having been out and about the last few days in the heavy snow and living at the highest area in central scotland i can safely say the 4wd ix35 is unstoppable.
the hill assist feature on the dash with the slanted led of a car also works excellent while coming down some steep hills in the snow. the car computer realises that you are gaining speed so it slows the car down automatically and keeps speed constant till you hit the accelerator again. i did not know what this feature was but i do now.
the car is top class. keep waiting and hope you all get yours soon.

Just shows how Hyundai give out inconsistant information to everyone. My Dealer sent me an e-mail today saying Hyundai allocations do not know what cars will be built for the U.K. for December for a few more days yet!
As far as the £500 'Goodwill' many of you mention, mine is to be discussed between my Dealer and Regional Manager, apparently upon delivery, to gauge exactly how long I will have waited'!!! So far its 18+ weeks and it will be at least another 8 weeks IMO. Will that be long enough for them? Probably not. It looks like the '11' plate is a real possibility though!

The info came from HUK National Operations Manager and to be fair all of the info he has supplied me since Oct has been accurate.
He said NO 4wd being produced for the UK market in Dec and they get to look at the Jan run next week.
Based on that i suspect no cars until late Jan early feb at the earliest.

Ok, just to round this subject off, I have just had confirmation from Hyundai UK that until your specific car is allocated to UK stock, they are not able to confirm any kind of date. Therefore by extrapolation, any 'build schedule or expected' date provided by the dealer is complete pie in the sky unless the car is practically on the boat and in transit. Reason being they still have a backlog of over 2,000 vehicles for the UK alone.
Therefore unless you can obtain a statement from your dealer that your car has been built and is on its way, then treat any timescale with a huge pinch of salt. By default if your dealer hasn't given you catagoric assurance that your car is already inbound, then Jan/Feb is the earliest you'll see it.
So, johnbo, you are spot on.

Demand has outstripped supply. Originally we anticipated selling 2800 ix35's this year. We have already taken almost 5000 orders for the car, and this situation is mirrored everywhere else in Europe. It has been Hyundai’s fastest-selling car ever. Understandably this has placed a severe amount of pressure on the factory in trying to keep pace with demand. For them to double production in such a short period of time is very difficult. However we will have supplied 5000 ix35's by the end of the year, the factory has donw a great job. We are constantly trying to secure more production than we were originally allocated. Because of this it is very difficult to provide accurate delivery dates to everybody. We realise this is very frustrating but please bear with us.

i wonder if Hyundai will find a fair amount of ix35's from somewhere just for the UK, when you think of the vat increase and the possible loss of orders they could just come up with the goods, i sure hope my instinct is right, get onto your dealer on monday evening.
i was thinking of going elsewhere for a differnt car but theres nothing that appeals to me, the Model i ordered has everything i need at a great price, other manufacturers cant guarantee delivery of there 4wd either, or offer the same spec.
for anyone wondering about the £500 of accessories just hassle your dealer.
as we all wait remember the price of the ix35 has gone up and our current vehicles continue to depreciate all at the dealers expense, so tough it out, i am.
The vat increase around 4th january 2011 is my biggest concern and not something i can do much about {government issue} however if the dealer can find out what your chassis number is you could pay for the car before the 4th to avoid the increase, but only do so if you are given a soon delivery date and can afford to pay out.
i had a dream 4,000 ix35's unload at the docks at xmas,
it turns into a nightmare as mines not there {wheres my car}

Just a quick message for all of us who are waiting for this illusive car. Have just spoken to my dealer and the salesman has just told me. Wait for it; all the big wigs at Hyundai UK and regional sales managers have just returned (today) from an all expences paid trip to New York. Thats right New York in America. This was a thank you for an excellent year of sales and profits. So its OK for them to live it up, but what about us poor customers who are being left in the lurch and having to argue to get a woeful offer of £500 pound of accessories and pay increase in VAT. I've been waiting for mine now since June 2nd and have been told March at the earliest. Am cancelling my order and taking my buisness elsewhere to a company that is customer focussed and not one who are having free holidays at our expence.

Just to remind you I ordered a casa white premium 4x4 ix35 on 1st June 2010. My london based dealer phoned me on Friday to advise me my car is expected to be delivered in March 2011. I believe they are being honest & realistic. I'm still going to hang on!

If a company thinks it can make a better profit by selling an 'in demand' car elsewhere, (i.e. other places in Europe or beyond) whilst existing UK customers have to be fobbed off and wait, with no set timescales...at what point will you tell them to shove it where the son doesn't shine and buy something else?
Would that be 3 months, 6 months, a year?

Hi fitlike, I really hope you are right. I have been reading all the comments posted since my ix35 Premium in Sirius Silver did not arrive on Sept 1st (ordered on June 26). I have not joined in the discussion because I had nothing to add to what so many people were saying - until now that is. I like others got in touch with watchdog via their website (no reply), I regularly speak to Nikki at Hyundai customer services (nice lady) and my dealer Cooks in Peterborough who are as exasperated as I am. My part exchange has done some 3000 miles since the offer they made (and are sticking to), it becomes three year's old on January 8th and will need an MOT and be taxed, and if the ix35 delivery is delayed much longer it will need new tyres, something certainly not budgeted for. But joy of joy I spoke to Nikki again today and after hanging on the phone for a while she told me emphatically that my ix35 is being built on 16th December and will be at my dealer on 17th January. Even after reading all the comments I will take this as being truthful - but I will keep you posted. Happy Christmas

Well I too have just been informed that the latest delivery date is at least Feb 2011, (I ordered mid July). I had wanted the car for the winter bad. It does feel as though that after the extra 700 cars delivery has virtually stopped.
If you are reading this Hyundai then ask yourself if the policy of not coming clean about delivery dates in an attempt to keep the few orders you already have, is worth the damage to your reputation. They are not bringing in revenue because you are not honouring the deal, and the word is spreading.

congratulations on the confirmation and i very much hope your car arrives.
it is interesting though as just yesterday i gatehred from dealer and hyundai that there were in fact NO, Zero, Nada IX35 with 2 ltr being manufactured at all in Decemeber. Indeed, there are still engine shipment issues and no confirmation of when next batch of engines will be shipped in January (let alone December). Hyundai have also informed dealers to specify that any new order must be quoted as standard lead time PLUS 3 months as a minimum, ergo 7 months. there are reputedly now some 8000 cars on backlog and with only 40 of the 2 ltr 4wd made in Nov, none in December and no schedule for Jan for reasons above, i am struggling to see when anything will hit the UK. i ordered mine in May!
But as posted on ealriers mails, the Hyundai UK sales and exec team (Tony W etc who made all those lovely worthless promises 2 months ago) will have earned a ton of bonus from beating their own s*** sales forecasts, so they will now be sitting back to a bumper xmas with not a care for the many thousands of customers they have deceived and utterly screwed over.
i genuinely hope your car does arrive on the appointed day in December as Hyundai customer whoever they are deserve some xmas good fortune.

Most of the ix35 arriving in Germany seem to be the 1.7CRDi blue motion with stop start ,thats one that is being advertised in the press.

ordered ix35 premium with both packs in july and now told it will be at least march before it arrives and may well be later. Also told that p/x offer for my car no longer valid. I have now been trying to buy a new car for 13 months and had similar poor experiences with toyota, skoda and mitsubishi - anything to not returning calls or arranging test drives, not sending information out or not being interested in p/x (4 year old prius).
Heard on the news the other day that sales of new cars are down by 11% - I'm surprised they are that good!

You should (if it suits) be able to the 1.7 model more readily. My local dealer swapped two orders of 2 litre models onto 1.7's and got them both in under 6 weeks.
I ended up going a different way as i didn't like the amount of noise the 1.7 made at motorway speeds (could be just my perception).
Generally the Crossover space is a pig to get a new vehicle at the moment (well as far as my experience anyway).

Not made any comments recently as I have been enjoying my Honda CRV which arrived in 3 weeks, just in time for the snow.
After 7 months of waiting Hyundai could not even give me a build date for my 2.0 l Premium with both packs. They hinted it would be into the new year, and were happy to refund my deposit!
The Honda has less kit and a shorter warrenty but the build quality is great and the engine more refined and quiet. Best of all it exists.
Good luck to those of you who hang on, but there are alternative that are of similar price which you can get without all the hassle.

Hi All had the car two weeks now it is great to drive no problem in the snow and ice it has to go back to my dealer next week to have the £500 accessories fitted and a recall I have chosen front and rear skid plates side mouldings with the ix35 logo sill gaurds with the ix35 logo rear bumper guard dog guard and boot mat I will let you know how it is on a run as soon as we get the chance to give it a decent run I hope you all get yours soon

Just to let people know. I have been informed by my car dealer this morning that
the ix35 Premium 2.0 litre crdi 2wd no packs inSirius Silver that has been on order
as of the 14th June 2010 will be delivered to Northern Ireland the third week in January
2011. YES folks January 2011. Also the dealer is honouring the vat rate at 17.5%
No word from Hyundia Ref £500 of accessories could be they are sending it with Santa

hi all, i have been waiting since may 2nd, update.. got offered a 1.7 diesel in place of my 2.0 diesel.so i decided to take the 1.7 instead of waiting till march next yr. now heres the kicker. i lost my £500 accessories,and they are now telling me i might not be able to get the low rate finance on offer at the time of order,because they pulled it after they sold so many.. now , surely this is a trading standards matter,or at least ASA matter.i went in to buy the ix35 after seeing newspaper adverts offering low finance,deposit. £249/mth with ballon at the end. i was happy with that,and duly signed up.now with the seven mth wait,all finance deals on ix35 have disappeared. does anyone know where we stand on this cheers.

Your ix35 Premium 2.0 litre crdi 2wd no packs in Sirius Silver is the same spec as mine and as I reported earlier I was told the car would be built on December 16th and in the showroom 15th January. I rang Nikki at Hyundai customer support yesterday (17th Dec) she is going to ring me on Monday and hopefully confirm the build. You must get onto Hyundai and press hard for your accessories - they owe you. I ordered mine on 26th June and I have been given the £500 of accs. I will update after my phone call...

Thanks for the information I will get onto them after your next post If any other guys got the £500 accessories after 14th June it would be a help not only to myself but to the rest of the guys on this forum.
My dealer got conformation from the factory so they must have put a batch of Sirius Silver onto the line.once again thanks for the advice.

following my post ref 16th Dec build, I have now been told by Nikki at Hyundai Customer Support that the build was put off a few days due to the bad weather. Poor Nikki, she obviously has to believe what they are telling her but I am just beginning ever so slightly to have my doubts and that they are telling her porkies. Nikki has promised to update straight after Christmas. Will update when I hear. Still, my old car is filthy dirty and my new one is nice and warm and clean, but unfortunately not finished and not here.

Andy, and your point is what? Basically the article tells us that Hyundai have sold over 9,000 of the iX35 into Germany, and the new smaller capacity engines that have also been introduced into the UK (1.6 petrol and 1.7 diesel) are making the Ix35 even more affordable.
So, tell us anything we don't already know. The article goes on to tell us just how good the car is and how popular it is. Again, nothing new, oh and by the way it's still the same iX35 we all signed up to, so I believe we are all still waiting for you to come up with the 'New iX35' you told us was introduced after we placed our orders. All I think you've managed to do is tell us what we had already managed to work out for ourselves. i.e. the iX35 is popular, that it is a good car, and it's still the same one they launched in the UK earlier this year, so only a couple of new engine variants is all that's changed since then.

As previously mentioned we've had our 2lt premium 4wd for about 3 months and covered approx, 2600 mls. so far its been a complete dream to own, apart from the mpg issue!!. The last couple of days we have noticed a strange type of smell, like a burning clutch type of smell. Has anyone else had this , and could the smell be linked to the DPF filter at all. thanks karl.

Hi Karl,yes we had ours(4wd premium 1200 miles) for some 6 weeks great car !! mpg is awful averaging 27 mpg !!!and as you mention we also have a rancid burning smell on a few occasions,will be taken back after xmas for investigation.

Update, took car to dealer today , there technician drove the car and could not replicate the intermittant burning smell!!. They are going to send off a report to Hyundai to see what they suggest. Another worker there told me Hyundai realise there is a clutch problem with the ix35 but are trying to pass it off as a wear & tear issue!!. There was an ix35 with 4500mls on the clock in there garage, which apparantly Hyundai are arguing about because the clutch is knackered. If they try to pull this trick with me after spending £23k on a new car i'll go mental with them. karl.

£23k on a hyndunda? The mind boggles in a couple of years you be lucky to get 10 grand for one of them.People must have money to throw away.What is the saying what comes to mind in dutch.Veel stro weing koren.:)

And they make you wait months first before they let you have one its no wonder they have no sense of humour.
The smell from clutch was explained in a post recently I think it was from the clutch plate overheating and causing some constituent part to melt .

Duchie, i bet you also drive an old knacker like are other friend. My previous car was a 1 series 120d bmw which was purchased for £24k and 3 years later has a value of £13k so that argument holds no water as the retained value of the ix35 is expected to be better. I'm sure some of you Hyundai knockers are bitter ex amployees!!.

For the record, i'm very pleased with the ix35 its a superb car , in everyway , hence the high demand for them. I just hope if things like the clutch issue become a known fault, they quickly own up and dont fob people off. By the way mr blair, the previous 1 series we owned was plaqued with a clutch judder almost from day one which bmw never resolved apart from fobbing us off with there latest software updates which only made the engine tickover faster and did not cure the clutch judder. I'm sure despite the long waiting lists the vast majority are pleased with there purchase. karl.
