ford focus 05 tdci zetec - Central locking key fob problem - focuskev

Hi,

Have found that my key fob neither opens or locks my car now. Its been on the decline for a little while being a bit temperamental and also affecting the immobiliser too. Doors lock/unlock with the key and car starts fine but can immobilise if I do not start the car but just open it retrieve something then lock up.

Ive changed the fob battery to no avail either and been told it could be the fob which is £120!

Does anyone know how you can test this or reset the entire central locking?

Thanks

I have had the same problem with mine first of all to test comunications between the car and the fob by opening a door and pressing the interior door switch 6 times in 8 seconds, the indicators should flash then push the buttons on the fob if they work the indicators will flash, if this is ok your fob is ok, wait a while to cancell then start the car as normal to make sure the test is cancelled. Next unplug the control unit which is above the side panel by the accelorator, a small box with a blue and green plug coming out of the bottom of it leave this for about 1 hour then plug it back in and it should work again.

Hi. I can't find the interior light door switch. Theres a black rubber recess but sticking things in there it doesnt turn it off.

I don't think the Focus has the mechanical type interior light switches any more, certainly my 56 plate doesn't. Presumably the battery in the key fob is ok / new?

Good luck, I'll be interested to hear the outcome.
