01 1.4 Cracked windscreen - maltrap
My sons Polo has developed a crack in the windscreen (probably due to the cold weather)
It starts at the bottom edge in the centre. It moves up about 50 mm and then curves towards the passenger side about 80mm. Although it,s within the "swept area" it doesn,t impede the driver,s view nor is it distracting. Will it pass the MOT ?
Thanks in anticipation.

Really at the descretion of the tester. You can buy repair kits on ebay for not much money for sealing cracks, I used one on my sons car a couple of years ago and it hasn't got any worse and you can hardly see it.

Here is the official line:-

Don't forget though that a windscreen makes up quite a percentage of the cars strength and rigidity. I for one wouldn't want to knowingly drive a car with a weakened survival cell.

I think you will find that cracks always grow, but when you get just chips they can be repaired.
Your insurance company will pay for the repair anyway, to save them having to fit a screen. I tried this recently, but the crack was growing every time I drove it and had to have a new screen

Only Comp Ins will repair a crack for free (or £10), TPF&T you are paying your own bill.
