Checking DVLA data for NI reg - CompoSimmonite
I've bought an early Range Rover to restore. V5 is missing. It has a "private (Northern Ireland) plate so not sure about year. I tried the DVLA web site but no record of the number.
Is this because a NI plate ?
The number is virtually worthless so doubt it's been transfered and vehicle hasn't been off the road long enough for records to be deleted.
The Range Rover is original and unmolested so I don't have a problem applying for age related with dating certificate if necessary but it's be nice to know the age from the records at least pro tem.

Anyone know if it's simply a case of DLVA don't keep NI numbers on their records acessable on line ?

I've now emailed DVL(NI) asking (a) if still on their records (b) it's them, and not DVLA Swansea, I need to make an application for a V5

Most classic vehicle clubs have a designated officer who can deal with questions of identification, dating, registering with DVLA, etc. I've found they often seem to have some kind of direct approval/liaison with DVLA, so can get things verified or approved that mere individuals find difficult.

I got my old unregistered Ferguson tractor dated and registered with an appropriate number by the club, who handled all the paperwork with DVLA for a £10 fee.

Presumably something similar exists for Range Rovers - membership is useful for insurance discounts apart from general members' advice etc.
