Hi,

The cigarette lighter is not working, just completely dead. I therefore checked the fuse to find there was no fuse in the socket!!!

I have just bought a 15amp fuse however when trying to insert the fuse it is very loose and isnt secure in the socket.

Do you think the previous owner may have broken it, if there was no fuse in before then someone must have messed with it?

Any ideas on how i can fix this? Is it possible to wire the cigarette lighter to an empty reserve fuse socket?

There must be a fuse for the cigar lighter.If the fuse you have put in is not secure,then this is not a used location.Check the fuse map on the side of the glove box,this should give the correct position.hth

Thanks for the reply will check again in the morning. Pretty sure it was the right socket according to the diagram next to the fusebox.

According to the info I have, the front cig lighter is protected by fuse 29 (15 amp) in the dashboard fusebox.

Thanks, i was looking at the rear cigar lighter fuse socket, and as i dont have a rear ciger lighter there is no need for a fuse! Embarrassed!!!!!

The diagram was half covered with masking tape which may be why i didnt see it. Now replaced blown fuse and all working.

Hi,

Do you know which fuse it was you changed, sounds like i have made the same mistake, i was trying to put a fuse in to the bottom row secon from the right, this on the diagram is marked up as the cig lighter

Hi,
I had this problem with my Mondeo and I found after asking around that there is a second fuse box.
In the Mondeo I found it located on the passenger side. I had to remove the glove compartment completely to get to it. Not easy, when it was removed there is a panel just near the passenger side door. I removed the cover and found another set of fuses; the cig lighter fuse was in there. Hope this helps
