05 1.9dci Front suspension noises over uneven road - harfmouse
The front suspension on my Scenic is very noisy (almost graunching!) over undulating bumps, and particularly noticeable over speed humps. I have lubricated all bushes (that I can get to) but to no avail. Any ideas / help appreciated as I am now thinking I need to replace antiroll bar and drop link bushes?

Top strutt bearngs,my scenic had them replaced about every 30 k miles.

Investigation today revealed the problem to be with the friont anti-roll bar.
I disconnected both drop links and by moving the anti-roll bar I could simulate the noise.

I managed to undo the bolt that secures the driver side anti-roll bar bush clamp (very fiddly as only able to get one hand in there) but could not release it from the subframe where hooked in. I think I need to release both sides and roll the clamps out from where they are hooked into the subframe but is there room to do so without droppong the subframe.

Any help appreciated.

hi have you sussed out what was causing the noise in the front of your car mines doing the same i have just done the droplinks but to no avail its still doing it its a pain cause our estate is full of speed bumps . could you let me know what was causing the noise on yours.

Yes - the cause is the antiroll bar bushes albeit not repaired yet but proven by disconnecting both drop link arms and moving the antiroll bar by hand (and getting the same noise)!
Local Renault dealer indicates job entails subframe to be dropped and steering rack to be unbolted (in all 2.6 hours) just to get to antiroll bar.
I will be trying replacement insitu in the near future (probably take me longer than 2.6 hours) but no workshop fee!

I have the same problem and being quite handy with a spanner I am gonna try and do it myself. Was just wondering if you have had a crack at doing this job yet ? Does the sub frame have to be dropped etc or can it be done in situ ?

Any help appreciated m8
