I have an automatic petrol model which was going beautifully until last week when in drive around 3000 revs gearbox warning light came on and there was a loud clunk sounding as if i had driven over something metal. When the car is turned off and on again the light goes out and it continues to drive ok. has happened every day since when cold especially. It is under warranty and after a second look they are replacing sensors! Can you tell me a bit more about this or if you are familiar with the probelm.

Which fault-code did they find?

they told me nothing showed on the computer log - they have spoken with the peugot garage (my garage is a vw dealer) the error on the dash said gearbox faulty.

If the gearbox warning light had been on, then there would have been a code stored - somewhere.
Has it been code-read by a dealer, or dealer-level equipment?

my thoughts entirely. I reckon their equipment is not picking it up. However at least they have booked in into a main dealer garage. Just wondering if anyone has experienced these symptoms and if they were as a result of sensors not alligned. I would like to have a bit of knowledge so that i know if the real problem is being addressed.

I know it's been a long time since you posted this, but I have the same car (06, 1.6 Semi-Auto) and am having the exact same problem. Out of the blue, there is a clunk sound, the warning light comes on and says there is a gearbox error. The next time I use the car, it's gone. Did you ever figure out what was wrong and what needs to be done? Many thanks.
