07 1.6 HDI 'peep' noise when cold - Ben79
My Dad bought a C4 Picasso 1.6 HDI EGS to replace his Xsara Picasso with the same engine.

The first time it is driven each day, within the first half mile at between 2000 and 2500 revs, the C4 Picasso makes a noise that can only be described as a "peep", similar to sound a microwave might make at the end of cooking.

It only happens for a short while, and then stops for the rest of the day. I can't pinpoint the source of the noise, other than it sounds louder at the drivers side.

The previous Picasso didn't make any similar noises when driven at the same revs from cold. Dealer says it comes from the turbo and they all do it. I'm not sure and haven't tested another car to make sure. Car has 3000 miles and has correct level of oil.

Thanks in advance.

Probably this has nothing to do with your problem, but, I left my handbrake slightly on
(07 C5) and I also got a beep. Obviously this was an electronic beep. Anyway good luck.

Thanks to both for their ideas. It isn't an electronic noise, just sounds similar to one.

The handbrake is electric on the C4 Picasso range, also on the new C5 exclusive and the C6.

I hadn't heard of that forum, I'll have a look. Cheers.
