How long does it typically/currently take to get a change of address on the driving license? Do you get it back say in a week or is it longer?
|
I have never waited longer than 7 working days
I take my licence and log book and hand both over in person (to DVLA) and get a receipt for both of them.
DVLA & vehicle licensing offices can be found here: tiny.cc/ZqCji
TIP
Don't go the last few or the first few days of the month or you will sit & wait whilst people/dealers/fleet managers etc., tax their vehicles!

It took me 16 years and one week - 16 years to get around to sending it off and one week for the DVLA to return it.

Dunno about licences but I had to get two new V5s due to plate changes last week. Applied on Thursday last and got them back by Wednesday this last week. So a short week which also included a bank holiday. Used to take ages. Maybe the DVLA are not very busy.

Took me less than a week but I do live in Swansea.
I am told sending your documents registered delivery speeds up the process and also safeguards you. There were some stories about this in the local Swansea paper a few weeks back.

Staff at the DVLA were on strike for a couple of days last week so it might be a bit longer.
I hope you took a photocopy before you sent it - just in case?

I thought you could do it online...

Yes you can, and you can keep your old one just in case so no need for that registering or photocopying pelava.

Thanks PU. It's not sent yet but for my stepson. He needs it soon but he also needs to change address so a dilemma.
