I wouldn't hold your breath; most know about the engine problem - maybe £700-1200 [if you get lucky.]

What is the engine problem Screwloose?

Sounds a healthy price for a thirsty, highish-insurance car that age... Like others though (no doubt) I wondered if it might not be a replacement for my motor, then dismissed it out of hand... Might suit a car-aware, slightly barmy, not destitute country dweller though...

And very low mileage apparently although it may well be on its second circuit of the clock.

They break the cam chains on the left-hand bank; there's a lubrication problem and the upper cam seizes.

At one time; you couldn't get a second-hand engine for one of these for love or money. Busted ones lying everywhere.

As to their value; £300 will get you a runner and, once you shut your eyes to the hideous frontal styling, that Cozzie estate will last another 15 years and has few peers - even today.

I thought they stopped making the GRANADA variant in 93, maybe 94 latest?

They did; it was replaced by the bug-eyed Scorpio in '95. Sales bombed and Ford dropped it in only three years. One of their worst-ever launches - and probably one of their best products ever. Looks matter.

At least the estate avoided the rear view ;-)

True; the saloon was hideous from any angle.

Don't forget the Granada/Scorpio was orignally a hatch only. Then estate. It took the ugly saloon to start the downfall of a good car. Ugly in the end!
