Has the engine on this model a belt driven cam and if so how often should it be changed? Need I use Nissan coolant for a change or will the universal type stuff do?
The vehicle has done 55k and although the service book is stamped up it is not clear what other jobs have been done. The main dealer who stamped the book is no longer trading so I can't ask them. Any advice on which jobs i should do or get done? Thanks.

This is the SR20DE engine so servicing is essentially the same as for a Primera 2.0i.

A 54k/72m service is as follows:

You need to do coolant (use Nissan - its not expensive), brake fluid, air filter, pollen filter, spark plugs, adjust handbrake - plus all the usual checks.

If it were my car and I was keeping it a while then I would also change the drive belts - they tend to start cracking at this age.

I have a 2000 2.0i Primera.
Get all of your service parts and fluids from Nissan. They are comparable and in some cases cheaper than pattern parts.

Definately do get your coolant (£6ish for 2x 1L) and oil filter (£5-£7) from Nissan.

The oil filter is extremely easy to do with a strap removal tool. Assuming access is similar to Primera.

Ideally do an oil and oil filter change every 6000 miles to keep the cam chain healthy.

Thanks both. I'll change the coolant etc next week.
