2003 318Ci - Headline beading coming off!! - CJay{P}
The headlining beading (I hope that is how it is called) is coming off on both the passenger side and the driver side. It is much advanced on the driver side. What is the best glue that I should use to stick it back? I tried with some PVC sealant (on the driver side) ? and I have a feeling that I made the problem worse.

Any suggestions most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

2003 318Ci - Headline beading coming off!! - adverse camber
I thought they just stayed on because the door seal (which ?I what I would call it) is a compression fit.

tbh I would buy a new seal.

Why is it coming off in the first place though?

If the seal has metal clips/inserts built into it try squeezing them up (with pliers?) before pushing the seal back onto the metal flange. If that doesn't work then adverse camber's suggestion of a new seal seems best. I don't think an adhesive will work.

This is a common problem and in my experience of lots cases, once it is loose it will never grip back properly, not even if you squeeze it with the pliers.
Look in Yellow Pages for a car interior/upholstery supplier and run the car round to them. They will probably have a selection of different 'profiles' and sell you a few metres of something suitable - its not expensive. Alternatively you might find one of two mail order suppliers on the web.

I have absolutely no idea - we have a 52 plate 320DSE - no problems with that one (fingers crossed).

However, the car is not used everyday, and does stand on the driveway for 2 or 3 days at at a time. Could the lack of usage have a bearing?

No, not at all. This is quite common - perhaps not put on quite right at the factory. Don't worry about it, just replace.

You could give Newton Commercial a call www.newtoncomm.co.uk/ They did general trimming supplies before they did the custom kits & can probably give you advice or point you in the right direction. Most trimmers seem to use a heavy duty contact adhesive - by heavy duty I mean one that doesn't go soft & unstick on the first hot day.
