'01 1.2 - Warning light for monitoring exhaust gas - Johnny594
I have a 2001 Clio 1.2 Petrol and the warning light for monitoring exhaust gas has started to flash. Handbook says 'reduce engine speed until the light stops and consult a dealer'. Not sure what this might be. Can anyone help?

That's just a generic warning to tell you that the engine control unit has detected a problem.

It could have many causes; find a local garage with code-reading facilities and that will establish the area of the problem.

Come back with any codes and we can advise further.

Hello. I hope you don't mind me emailing you but I have a clio the same as yours and my warning light for monitoring exhaust gas has come on and I can see you have had the same problem, would you mind telling me what was wrong with it?? I have just had a major service on mine and now this light has come on and I didn't know if might be something to do with it??? Appreciate your reply. Thanks

i have this problem freash this morning. this normaly happens after its been raining etc i have read into it and have found a possible cure for this is to remove the crankshaft sensor (which i think is under the black box) and squirt it with wd 40 apperntly this is quite a common problem with clios
