Fitting Air Con - Robin the Technician
Hi Guys,

My Daughter has an '02 Corsa 1.2 which is immaculate. However, she's asked me how easy it would be to fit Air Con to the vehicle. I've thought of getting the stuff off a scrappie but does anyone know if the heater is different? Anyone out there done this before? I can do all the work myself but would like to hear from anyone whose either done this before or looked into doing it.

Look forward to hearing your advice and guidance

I've had a quick look around corsasport.co.uk. Not an easy job by all accounts.

I'm guessing the comment "The dash is different in an AirCon model" is referring to the space for the switches. Not sure if the Corsa has removable blanking plates where the switches would go, or you would need a different dash. The statement above would suggest the latter.

It can be done if using a donor car,but you will need the main wiring harness as well as all the relevant a/c components. Also the engine management Ecu will need to be re-configured for a/c operation.hth

DD; My wife's 02 Corsa has aircon and even the space at the back of the glove box is a different shape to a non aircon Corsa I hired. I guess whole chunks of the dash are different to accomodate the aircon pipework.

Thanks for the definitive answer. I don't think I'll bother. Winters here as autumn this year was August, so I don't think overheating is so much of a problem.

Again thanks.
