Oil Contamination Problem-Renault Scenic - Big Bad Bob
Wonder if anyone could help out on this one for me.
I have an R reg Renault Scenic 1600 with the K7M engine, ally head, cast block. I bought the car with supposedly the head gasket gone, should have been no problem for me to sort as I am an ex Renault technician. I have changed the head gasket and the head twice ( I have changed the head, to make sure there was no internal crack in the head). Although it is not as bad as it first was, I am still getting oil contamination into the header tank, but only at full running temperature and only after half an hour of running. I asked an old mate at Renault who's been in the trade 35 years whether it could be a crack in the block. He said he'd never heard of it over his 35 years in the trade.
Anybody got any ideas or thoughts i would appreciate it, now I have pulled most of my hair out I would like to keep the rest. cheers.

Had it pressure tested?

hi yes but the only thing is that they only do it cold .and this will be the second head and both have been skimmed?

Face of block square?

If so it only really leaves crack in the block? Opens under pressure/heat?

hi i did have a quick look but to be honest it looked in good nick. i just might strip it again just to check if it is the block. it looks like a block skim or s/h block bum just what i needed

Is there a water-to-oil intercooler on it? Seen those leak internally.

Could it be residual oil left in a waterway and only moving when engine is very warm?

If so and you skim the oil out of the header tank, it should reduce with time.

hi no i had another look at it again this morning and ran it up. and the oil is pumping in to the header tank fresh from the engine because the oil level is going down now. i think its time to change the engine thanks to you all for the help

The only place in the block where oil and coolant should come anywhere near each other is the oilfeed to the head-leak must be in this area or seal at top.

Hi thanks to you all just to say i have changed the block and it has done the job
