Vauxhall Omega - Locked Out! - RaineMan
I remotely deadlocked and set the alarm on my 1998 Omega as per usual last night. This morning I was unable to open it. It appears that the car's battery has failed (alarm light not blinking) and because of this you cannot use the key to get into the car. Surely there must be a way of opening the car so that I can charge/change the battery?
Vauxhall Omega - Locked Out! - horatio
The key should work in the locks battery or no battery, how about the boot can you get in there? You might be able to slide something up the back of the rear seat (assuming saloon) and press down on the rear seat fold down button.
Vauxhall Omega - Locked Out! - horatio
Have you tried the remote fob battery?
Vauxhall Omega - Locked Out! - RaineMan
This was recently replaced. The indications are that the car's battery has failed for some reason .
Vauxhall Omega - Locked Out! - bk.bas
yes manual states you can, but on my 98 Reflection battery failed and definately could'nt force key forward past deadlock (centre) position on drivers door. Could only do this on boot. I gave it plenty of welly but could NOT unlock it. Phoned local Vaux independant who also confirmed could not force key past deadlock. I don't have an Omega anymore (fatal mistake of changing for a Passat!), butyam intending to get another, so would be very interested to have an answer on this...not a quote from the manual, but a real world does it/doesn't it proof, and if so are there exceptions?

The key will unlock a deadlocked drivers door mechanically. Just stick it in and turn it- like the old days,

Unlike the old days it doesn't!
Vauxhall Omega - Locked Out! - Altea Ego
It should, does it turn?

Yes both clockwise and anti-clockwise but the button stays down and the door locked!
Vauxhall Omega - Locked Out! - horatio
The dead lock is probably electric only, not a good design. Amazing it lost all it's power overnight maybe you left something switched on.

Can you get in the boot?

I can only think you will have to jack up the front of the car and try to connect a jumpstart clip up to the +tve terminal It will be next to impossible though, the -tve will just clip onto any part of the engine.

Here's a previous recent question asking the same thing, with the solution thrown in as well.

And has already been pointed out, you should still be able to unlock the drivers door regardless of it being deadlocked.

A pity Vin [p] didn't tell us how he got on when he posted back on 2nd Jan

Casper at the end is (I think) saying that you use the key, and lift the handle at the same time, the buttons don't move but the door is unlocked. I'll believe it when OP does it.

Yes he did. To quote him from that post - "Top tip. In order to avoid looking like a total plank, try the door handle. I'd unlocked the door, but the button just hadn't popped up. I discovered this AFTER trying to connect a battery to the boot light and the starter lead, of course."

Ahh yes, so he did, I thought it was a signature and don't read signatures.

Hope this works for OP.

You have tried lifting the handle after unlocking havent you, didnt someone on here get caught out by the locking button staying down on an Omega but the door was really unlocked.
Vauxhall Omega - Locked Out! - Hamsafar
When deadlocked, the key can be very stiff with a flat battery.
Also, if you can open the boot, you can plug 12v into the light fitting (observe polarity)
Vauxhall Omega - Locked Out! - bk.bas
if the door is deadlocked and the battery fails you CANNOT open it manually. You can however definately open the boot, so as Ashok states, cannect 12V to light cluster, which should provide enough juice to power doors. Alterantively try slipping back seat catch and crawling through to open bonnet release

I suggest you RTFM, because it quite clearly states you CAN!.

Dynamic Dave is correct.
Have had to do it myself due to a faulty alternator.
You do however have to use reasonable force to turn the key.
Vauxhall Omega - Locked Out! - RaineMan
Sorry I have tried reasnoble force, tried the handle and the car remains firmly locked regardless of what the manual says! I will have to ask a smaller younger friend to try via the rear door (have not tried this lock yet) otherwise the fire brigade will be slicing off the roof and I will not have to worry about the locks.
Vauxhall Omega - Locked Out! - horatio
use jump leads jack up front of car, and place a concrete block or 2, or big bit of wood under each front wheel. connect negative to any part of the engine block, connect positive to any major thick wire leading to +tve on battery (hoefully it will be coloured red but don't bank on it, pay special attention to the starter motor +tve terminal.

Your locks should work then

If you don't like that idea,

Estate car, go through boot and open the bonnet release

Saloon car:
Either try to push some hard iron rodding or similar inside and press down on the seat release - climb through open bonnet

OR Break rear quarter window (easy to replace and cheap from scrapyard) press seat release button, climb through boot, release bonnet catch.
Vauxhall Omega - Locked Out! - horatio
If you end up breaking the window, just makesure you break the side with the rear seat that is bigger than half....i.e. includes the central armrest portion.
Vauxhall Omega - Locked Out! - Dynamic Dave
Sorry I have tried reasnoble force, tried the handle and the car remains firmly locked ....

It *could* be though lack of use (ie, the remote has been used most of the time) that the key lock has semi-siezed. Try some wd-40 in it, or the suggestions made in this or the other thread I pointed to earlier.
Vauxhall Omega - Locked Out! - Dynamic Dave
To add, it does state in the manual you have to turn the key beyond its resistance point until it will not move any further.

In other words, you have to be quite forceful so as to overcome the locking mechanism that would normally be operated electrically.
Vauxhall Omega - Locked Out! - Ian J
To reiterate Dynamic Dave is correct

I have done this to open my Omega whenever a faulty alternator drained battery
Quoting from handbook - To unlock -
Turn key in driver's door lock towards front of vehicle turning it beyond its resistance point until it will not move any further ( hence reasonable force ). Turn key back to vertical position and remove; raise door handle. The lock button remains in depressed position but door will open

Pal of mine is outside in the rain. He called me on his mobile and I googled deadlock Omega.

I found this posting. He didnt belive it, having fiddled about already. He listened very carefully to the instructions given above. pulling the handle and having the confidence to turn harder

His omega v6 door opened.

Thanks everyone.
