My Yaris is up for a 40K service and I am trying to find out exactly what is involved at this interval as I am not sure if to have it dealer serviced in line with it's history or if to go with an independant as it wil be 6 yrs old next year.

Toyota Service & Warrranty book ( where the service stamps are) says.
Full service every 20K / 2 years.
Says lots of inspected items
Clutch & brake fluid replaced
and
plugs every 4 years/40k
Coolant replaced 3rd year/ 40K and after 2 years / 20K
inspect gearbox / valves /drive belts
So you seem to hit all the above whichever way you look at it.
FYI my local ( expensive London rates) main dealer charged
£90 special rate plus £20 oil plus filter etc
£42.50 for brake fluid job plus £5 for fluid
£42.50 for coolant jobplus £15 for coolant
No plugs changed
Plus VAT ....£263 total.
My daughter was paying cos I no longer get the spanners out.
Have a nice day :-I>

Agree with above details of service but add that book time for the service is 1.4 hours!
Not a lot of time for anything much !
Is the dealer stamp in the book worth what extra they will charge compared to doing it yourself or a cheaper local garage!

Hi
Just checked it in one of the books and all is stated there as you guys have so kindly mentioned above, Will speak to my local dealer and see what is wili cost via them but almost sure that I will not use a dealer.
Thanks for all your guidance.

Daughter took her 1.0 Yaris in for Service today to a Toyota main agent in Midlands; 19 months old with 20k miles.
One item to quible about was the change of Brake fluid. Servicing schedule stipulates 'Inspect' at 20k service; but notes say change fluid every 2 years. The cost was: brake cleaner £2.50, labour(for fluid change) £36, brake fluid £8.92 Total with VAT £55.72 out of total bill of £210. Included in that was a charge of £32 for oil.
£55 for something carried out 5 months early, and IMO not needed unless you habitually drive rally fashion down the Alps, is slightly sharp practice; it could have at least waited to her next service; and £32 for oil!

IIRC Brake fluid is hygroscopic and should be changed regularly.

Perhaps the 1.0 uses more expensive oil than the 1.3 in our household? ;-)
I would certainly enquire about that charge. Even "London does it cheaper!"
