My Xantia 1.9td Est has recently become bouncy, when even a minor undulation in the road surface can set the car bouncing, I think mainly at the front. Sometimes when I stop at junctions, the front is still bouncing, the car doen't bounce when a pot hole is encountered, more when there have been repair to the road and the two surfaces are not even. Can some one advise me as to the correct action to take to fix this problem.

It sounds very much to me as if the front spheres have gone. With the car set to normal ride height and the engine running, push down on a front wing. With moderate force the front should go down by an inch or two. If it doesent budge or feels "solid" then the spheres need replacing..

It is neither expensive nor difficult to do. Replace both even if only one has failed.

The back end should behave the same way.
