Peugeot 307 -replaced com2000 noise - rangerider
my 307 has done 18000 miles and pug changed com2000 unit (bit with indicator stalks and gizmos) cause left indicator came on after cancelling all by itself. - known major pug 307 problem cause of weak stalks in the past so new supplier used for replacements BUT-

when i went to collect there was a 'grating' noise when i turned the steering wheel - dealers clerk said it was normal but i rejected the repair - am i unreasonable to expect the same 'quiet' steering as before the repair and are they trying to con me? dealer would not say how soon noise would wear off but some rubbish about all new cars making this noise till driven around factory and onto transporters - have you ever heard such rubbish or again is it just me?

hope you can advise and help me feel normal again that such 'repairs' should not be acceptable.
cheers
ian

The only noises a COM2000 unit should make is its collection of different warning beeps when the car flashes a message up on the display or warnings for key in ignition, indicators, lights on etc.

It shouldn't be making a grating noise as you turn the wheel, all the rotary wiring for the drivers airbag & horn goes through the COM, maybe it wasn't fitted correctly?

Steering wheel has to come off to change it.

If you want too.

You could always ask to try another new 307 the dealer has in to see if when the COM is new it makes noises like the replacement they have fitted to your car does.
