A 2002/02 100k 2.0 DTI Elegance hatch or a 2003/52 2.0 DTI LS with about 90k.
Some new shape Vectras are beginning to come through general entries, these will be cheaper, but unless you really know what you're doing stick to big fleet disposals. Remember the buyers premium - this can be significant and has just gone up at Manheim (probably BCA too).

Yep agreed about general entries !!, I've always given these a wide berth - always feel they have something nasty lurking within them, fleet disposal carries less risk in the couple that I've bought in the past few years.

Agree with Hillman - leave the £$£$£ at home, take your switch card, or just £500 as your deposit in REAL money!
The number of buyers walking around auctions with a wad, still amazes me. Not so much chance of being mugged in the centre, but when you carry that much ANYWHERE, is asking for trouble!!
& as for the cars - you'll be spoilt for choice!!

Just to clear up the confusion, " in me back pocket " was a figure of speach of having 3.5k at my disposal. Would'nt dream of wandering around anywhere with such a sum of money, especially considering that the
8< snip swearing deleted, {next time it wil be the whole post, not just the word - DD} who would stab,punch or kill me for it would end up doing a couple of hours on community service !!
