Stiff & out of line auto box - Primera - sinbad
I have a 1997 R Nissan Primera 2.0 gX auto and the auto box is stiff. Also instead of driving in D, i have to wrestle it into N to move and to reverse it goes all the way upto P to reverse!! But when it is driving it is fine; smooth gear changes etc. The OD button works fine also. Any ideas and advice much appreciated as i have just bought the car and i think ive been conned.

Sounds like selector mechanism/linkage needs looking at - not a big job. If the box shifts OK then nothing too much to worry about. Any decent garage should be able to sort this out for you - no need to go to the main agent.
