SEAT Ibiza 1.4S timing belt tensioners - lents111
I have a 53 plate with 23k & in the car by car breakdown HJ states that plastic timing belt tensioners of 1.4 and 1.6 16v engines now failing regularly. What sort of age/mileage does this apply to & what's the best way of preventing it?

Best way to prevent is to get the cambelt changed aswell as the tensioners changed at 40000 miles/ 4 years at the most- any garage should be able to get a cambelt kit and fit it to this engine with no probs.

It should be noted that these engines have two cambelts& tensioners, the second couples the two cams together. Best also to change the waterpump at the same time.
