I've had this problem with the glove compartment for about a month, it seems to have locked itself shutand refuses to open even when using the key to unlock it. I have been down to my local vw dealers who have suggested that I get a new compartment lid, but wanting to charge silly money for it, not mentioning the cost of fitting. Ive spoken to a few garages and got no luck.

Anyone got any suggestions as to how I can open this without barking the lock?

Could you have shut something into the lock catch and jammed it? Get an assistant, one pulls the handle whilst the other eases down the glovebox?
