My 1993 1.9td seat toledo appears to be loosing pwr steering fluid from the resevior(?) i can`t find a leak,would it be pressurising some how? should i just shoot it ?as the alt belt went at 0300 and left me at the side of the m40

a second opinion is chep....er than a s/h car, get a mechanic to have a perusal.....

i have checked again and when you rev the motor after a few seconds some fluid escapes through the breather on top of the filler cap,what would cause the system to pressurise?
oldman whats the point of this forum if you toddle off to a mechanic every time you dont know something? how are we supposed to learn?

you said you were going to shoot it.
Any mechanic will give you 5 minutes of their time if you take car to them and ask an opinion of the fault and best course of action,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,i was trying to be helpful and stop you buying another car for the sake of a first hand 2nd opinion on an old car.....
shoot it mate scraps at an all time high,lets get these old bangers off the road eh?

sorry oldman i shot off the reply before i re-read you post and i had just burnt myself on the stupid thing looking for leaks,my wife has just given me permission to spend 2k from savings so i`ll px it not shoot it.

Are any of the pipes kinked causing a restriction?

so far i`m still losing fluid from the breather on the res when you rev the engine and the steering is v-heavy at low rpm but when revved to above 2k it lightens up a lot. am i right in thinking the pump is worn out ? should i stick somr conditioner type stuff in?
