Is it likely to be written off? - real
crashed my S-reg fiesta 1.3 finesse last night, value approx £800-900?

skidded on a corner and hit the kerb with the passenger side wheel, wheel buckled and looks like it's pushed the wheel mounting (?) back, with the tyre impacting onto the wing behind the wheel and pushing that back so that the door can't be opened. front part of wing un-damaged, rear part slightly pushed out of shape, but no idea on the stuff that keeps the wheel on (?)

anyone got an idea as to what the repair might cost? need to know if it might be written off or not.

TIA

I'd be amazed if that wasn't a write off.

I'll go further than that.

It's written off.

It's only a write off if the insurance company get involved.

Since, from what you say, no other vehicle was involved and nobody else is likely to be looking for some kind of claim it may well be a case for either getting it repaired yourself or quietly scrapping it if repair is too expensive. In most cases a claim will end up costing more than 800 quid in additional premiums etc.

I am told this happens a lot in the teenage world.

Sound advice; if you notify the insurance company of your accident (as you should, ahem), then even if you don't end up claiming and simply scrap the car or fix it yourself, you'll almost certainly be hit with a higher permium next year. The fact that you are known to have had an accident is enough.

Scrap it quietly.

Scrap it quietly, but not before you've sold off the useable tyres, interior, etc. Might even be a market for the engine if you ask around locally.

ebay the spares, just ask peopel to phone for individual prices rather than buying and you'll pay a lot less in fees. You'd be amazed at how many little bits will end up being sold. You do need somewhere to break teh car though and that place has to have access for someone to remove the shell once you're done.

Otherwise ebay it whole as is with an accurate description of the damage and all other faults
