Its been on this Forum before,but as I dont like additives in any car for different reasons,I Think they are a waste of money and dosh better spent elsewhere !

Anything pushed that hard on daytime TV selling channels can't be anything other than snake oil - or just, ... no, the filter would stop that one.

The only really useful vehicle additive other than an occasional application of polish is waxoyl. The running gear should be lubricated with the fluids specified and fuel to the appropriate standard should be put in the tank.
The need for waxoyl is far less now than it used to be, but there are always odd corners, box sections or damaged areas to consider.

It's being used to great effect where I live, as a one-off treatment for diesel cars which have been failing the mot smoke test... more or less a guaranteed 'pass'.

From its name it is presumably meant to clean the catalytic converter. I don't think that is possible.
Or is it just an injector cleaner? As reported elsewhere, they work, but shouldn't be needed if proper fuel is used in the first place.

If it really makes a diesel pass an emissions test that it previously failed without changing anything else (filters, oil, etc.) you've really got to wonder what it's doing to the engine - good or bad or nothing. Personally I feel that it must change the combustion of fuel itself not clean up the engine. Has anyone tried a similar thing with acetone? It would be intersting to try the emissions test again a couple of tankfulls later when the fuel additive had been purged from the system.
Just a thought no evidence though.

Millers Diesel Plus is recommended for getting Diesels thru the emission test. Double dose of it into a tank with not much fuel in it, an Italian tune up and the test passed, or so people say on this Forum.

It was me who posted further up about Cataclean and the diesel emmissions test.
Just as a further point to that, I have personally used a 'diesel smoke treatment' from Fuchs to enable older buses to get thru the smoke test. The reading typically reducing from around say, 3.5 down to 1.0 on our own test equipment, the test centre's equipment tends to read between 0.5 - 1.0 higher than ours.
I must say that I was very sceptical the 1st time I heard of the results from a work mate, but having since used it, well what can I say... the proof is in the digital read-out!
Interestingly, the Cataclean smells quite potent, the Fuchs, and Millers, not so.
Sales of Cataclean had rocketed, but since pre-2001 diesel cars are now exempt in N.I. from the smoke test, sales may well have tailed off again. Their website here; www.cataclean.co.uk/
