VW Passat - Radio after flat battery - L.Cleaver1
I left the CD player on last night and got a flat battery as a result this morning. After a quick jump start from the RAC the CD/radio will not function - basically looks like it's turned off without anyway of turning it on. Is there a way to kick the CD/radio into life?

Cheers

Do you need a code to reset it?

I was expecting to enter a code but the radio/CD will simply not turn on in any way. I've checked fuses and they're fine. It looks like there is no power at all to the radio or CD multichanger - could something have become burnt out when the jump start occurred? Can anyone offer any ideas?

Thanks

VW Passat - 1999 - SETDi Tiptronic Estate.

Standard VW radio

CD multichanger in wheel recess - not sure if factory fit palced in car when I bought it second hand about 3 years ago.

If an anti-splurge fuse (never heard of one of those!) is this inside the radio?

should be fuse f37 in your fuse box
ideally you will probably need to take the head unit out to find the inline fuses in the wiring on the rear of the unit there are usually one or two.
The unit will need special pins to remove it with these will be either flat bladed or round holes ,post back if you cant remove.
i know its a bit late now but radios are the first things to stop working after getting a jump start and to be honest with todays electrics not to really be recommended at all ,you really need to look in the handbook for correct procedure as blown ecu"s (been there in a rush) can easily cost more than the car .

Thanks oldman - F37 is fine so I reckon it's the in line fuse(s) that have gone. I'll trust to a friendly audio technician to have a look at the other ones.
