Yup going Friday as are a lot of the Independant Porsche Group, we got free tickets from the Sunday Times.
Goodwood festival of Speed - DP
The best motorsport event in the country at the moment, IMO.

Will be there on Sunday (battling the crowds).

Cheers

Agree with you there DP,

Will be there Friday and Saturday, have a ticket for sunday too that may be up for grabs (might have to work unfortunately)

Anyone going off here that wants to meet up for a beer?
Goodwood festival of Speed - DP
Well what a day!

Chucked with rain in the morning (Sunday) but got better as the day went on.

Highlights:

Bumping into Hannu Mikkola who was wandering around the forest rally stage. What a thoroughly nice bloke! Bona fide rally legend who actually seems to enjoy meeting and talking to fans. Watching an ex BTCC RS500 Cossie trying to go up the hill in the bucketing rain. Needed wipers on the side windows.
The big cheesy grin clearly visible through Damon Hill's open faced lid as he powered past in a Lotus 49 F1 car.
Standing 10 feet from Giancarlo Fisichella in his 2006 Renault F1 car at 19,000 RPM with the back tyres alight. I want to bottle the noise and smell, and use them as anti-depressants.
The Group B cars blatting around the Rally Stage. Metro 6R4, Quattro Sport, Lancia Stratos (dribble, slurp), Manta 400.
Modern WRC car anti-lag systems. What a noise!
Marcus Gronholm riding the banking in his Focus WRC and removing the wheelarch liner, yet still setting the fastest time of the day.
The heroic chap in the Clio V6 on the supercar run doing big, smokey burnouts every 100 yards.

Lowlights:

Crowds
Foul weather in the morning
£15 for 1x 48 second lap in the Bowler off roader. No we didn't bother.

Going again? Absolutely.

Did anyone else go?

Cheers

No I'm a bit disappointed with myself that I didnt make it. Does anyone know if/ when there will be some coverage on TV? Or have I already missed that as well? Did a general search and a search on Sky website but didnt find anything.

Cheers,

Rich.

IIRC, ITV for the past 2 or 3 yrs have shown it on a Sat afternoon, 2 or 3 weeks after the event.
Goodwood festival of Speed - martint123
No sign of it on TV in the next 2 weeks. ISTR that MotorsTV had it live last year??
Shame, it's a bit too far for me.

My Fix from Friday!

Pictures finally sorted from FoS, would have preferred better pics from the hill but dificult to see past the crowds.

Not going this year to either FOS or Revival though usually try to make one or the other. They are fantastic events - they might be a bit expensive but at least that ensures that the crowd is a committed one - not a bunch of chavs with nothing better to do on the day.

Good pics tr7v8!

I was always told the Friday was quieter, but looking at your pics, it would seem not.

I decided to take the video camera this year for the first time. Got some good footage, but lots of the back of people's heads! The stuff on the rally stage came out well though.

It's still a class event, and I'd recommend it to anyone. As long as you don't mind crowds.

Cheers

Definitely not as quiet as we expected! Even at 09:05 we were 12 rows back in the car park & it was already busy & when we left at 16:40, people were coming in.

Was there on fri and sat, a lot more cars running on sat even if the ticket is more expensive it's worth it. Really is something there for everyone, one of the few motor events where WAGs don't winge too much.Get there at 7am and leave at 7 pm and it's possible to see the lot in one day. Should be able to make the revival on 1/2/3 of September for the first time.

Damn, Phil Hill looks so old - (champion 1961 after von Trips death?), still picture him as a young man.
Sign of old age??
Had my fun , best prog on TV this year??
Mods, delete if you want to!
Night, night all, sweet dreams (of Dinos, Cobras, D-types, that lovely Maserati Birdcage, Norton Featherbeds etc - and don't forget that Matchless I fell off in 1966)
