Key fob programming and batts! VW Passat - JohnX
At the end of a shift 0100 hours discovered that my remote key fob for VW Passat 51 reg stopped functioning!
Can still get into the car using the actual key,so could get home!

Suspect that the batteries have run out.

Does anyone know a good site to obtain these batteries online?

The other key fob wasnt working when I bought the car and I was told that it had to be reprogrammed???

Thanks for any suggestions on where to go for this.

They will be cheap(er) if you buy them on line but you might have to pay P&P. Any high street electrical shop will sell the batteries over the counter so why wait for postie, if you want them staright away? Probably CR2032 or CR 2016

If you need one quickly, £1.99 at Maplins won't break the bank. If you want some spares, they can be had for a fraction of the priceif you know where to look - e.g. CR2032 at £2.60 for 10 from clockspares.net (can't remeber if VAT is added, they charge postage at cost IIRC).

www.batterystar.co.uk/watch_batteries.html (batts as cheap as chips and posted to you by first class post, which is all inclusive in the price of the batts)

Local VW dealer. And they will fit one in parts department if you ask nicely.
Requires a certain technique to separate the vatious parts of the fob.

£1.99 at Maplins.

The fob needs to be split twice to get to the battery. Just done it!
