Honda Jazz - fitting front fog lights - Bill Payer
I went mad and bought a front fog light kit on eBay (I've always hated the blanks on the front of the car where the fog lights go).

However the 34 pages of fitting instructions are somewhat daunting, especially the bit in the middle where the steering wheel has to be removed!!

Has anybody here fitted these lights (to a 2002-2004 model), and is it as daunting as it looks?

excuse my ignorance but I thought the fog lights would fit on the front of the car? Not sure why you would need to remove the steering wheel to fit them (or wire them)!

The kit comes with new light switch/indicator stalk (new because it now inlcudes the front fog switch). It's fitting this that needs the steering wheel removed.

I'm thinking (if I ever get around to doing this)that I'll probably just put a more ordinary switch somewhere.

Presumably to do with switching on one of the stalks. Submit just fit a plain switch with an indicator light somewhere.

given the above and the fact that even if wired up you will probably never use them (legally)why don't you just mount them but not bother wiring them? Wife's xantia has fog lights, she has owned the car for 4 years, we live in the foggy midlands yet I can never recall switching them on!!.

I did think about that, but if I recall correctly, they've got to work in order to pass the MOT.

I certainly would never drive with fog lights on in non-foggy weather, but living in rural Cheshire it is noticeable in fog that cars with front fogs on are visible slightly earlier. This could be valuable in avoiding people pulling out in front of you.

I'm not sure but from
www.motuk.co.uk/mot_testing.htm
No mention of front fogs

"What items are examined in the MOT test?

Lighting Equipment, Stop Lamps, Reflectors, and Direction Indicators

Front and rear position lamps, rear registration plate lamps, rear fog lamps
Headlamps
Stoplamps
Rear reflectors
Direction indicators and hazard warning devices
Headlamp aim "
I take your point about visibility but how often is visibility less than 100m?

Thanks. Weird that - I was always under the impression that any auxiliary lighting had to be fitted according to the rules and had to work.

I Know what you mean about those blanks, I have the same feeling for them.

Question, How in the world do you get them out????

Hello Everyone,

I have not fitted fog lights on my Jazz, but I had to replace the indicator stalk switch on mine because it had been mailfunctioning. I am guessing in order to connect the fog lights, you need to remove the indicator stalk switch because it has the switch to the fog lights. A Honda service guy told me that for this I have to remove the steering wheel. As I checked it is indeed true, but I noticed that it would be very easy to remove the switch if the plastic dashboard would not hung in the way with a half of an inch. I got really mad at this point because it is truly a way of design that pushes you to take your car to a service specialist to fix, for a lot of money... So I went with the "barbarian" way and cut the corner of the dashboard. Now I can pull in and out the switch easily whenever I want... The next project is how to patch the hole nicely but it is hard to see since the steering wheel is covering it mostly... :)
