£1800! I'd love to know how.

1993 Polo, VAG specialist, a full 10,000 mile service inc plugs and brake fluid change: £110

Invariably more than this as MOTs are conducted at the same time, and any failure repairs and fees are added on top.

Thats what you get if you buy a £105000 car!

Reminds me of a builder we know, who had £30k burning a hole in his pocket, so he bought a 2nd hand Bentley Turbo R.
He took it for a service at a main dealer and when he phoned up for it he was told, "It needs to be sent back to Crewe to have the doors re-hung." Dont know how much the service cost him, but he got rid of the car not long after.

2002 1 litre Vauxhall Corsa - £81 and that is at a Vauxhall main dealer - albeit a small village one. Every year for 4 years.

3 series - £125 ish at the dealer.

911 - starts at £300ish depending on what they can think of the add to it. Sorry, I mean depending on what they can find. Most people take about £100 off that, though, by buying their own supply of oil which seems (for some reason) to cost twice as much at official Porsche centres as it does from wholesalers.

Interesting stuff this - Dagenham Motors in Byfleet,Surrey have quoted me a whopping £175.00 incl for my Fiesta's first service. Its a July 2005 5 door petrol zetec climate.

Unbelieveably expensive for what is really just an oil change and a quick look underneath......

That is interesting because as a comparison my bro in law reckons his 1st service for Freelander TD4 is £400.
Do any Freelander owners think this is correct ?

Oh yes - I'll answer the question as well - Accord Type S 2.4 petrol - £166 for first 12,500 mile service.

can't remember exactly, it turned out to be mostly covered under used car warranty, final bill was 1300. a grand for pads and discs all round, 300 for the minor service.

things like , power steering pump, speed sensors, ecg pipe, other sensors, god knows, the list was so long, the service manager took 45 minutes to explain everything...whilst I fainted on the floor ;-)

One thing to bear in mind is that different franchise holders will quote wildly differing prices even in the same area. A Ford garage about three miles away charges 50% more than my local one. Always worth ringing around to compare.

Some interesting numbers here.

I paid £280 for a 24,000 mile service on my '04 Surabu Legacy Wagon at a main dealer last month. That included a set of plugs, apparently, but not a valet because they 'ran out of time'.

OTOH, they were happy enough to drive me into town after dropping it off and pick me up at lunchtime to collect it, which probably saved £20 on taxis!

I paid £257 inc VAT for my 24k service on the Legacy inc plugs.

They don't have valeting in Rochdale, they just wipe off the worst of the sheep dip with a kebab wrapper.
