Some of their prices seem half the cost of what I have been quoted at most fast fit outfits (although I realise I would have to pay extra for someone to fit them).

Anyone used them before? Any problems?

Mytyres.co.uk - Alec
Used them about 4 times in 3 years or so.
Works fine for me.

Cheers. Two tyres ordered.

Likewise used them four times in as many years for different cars and usually tyres not readily available in the UK. Coming from Germany delivery has varied from four working days to 10 days.
Shop around for fitting, balancing and disposal as the cost has risen in four years from £5 a tyre to £8-9 and even to a quoted £15 each. That's in the Midlands.

Another satisfied customer here. As said above, the fitters have started to get a little petulant about not selling you tyres, and fitting costs have increased, always worth shopping around.
Unusually, in this case it might be worth sticking to the big chains, since their prices are fixed, and the fitters aren't as bothered, since it's not them you're costing.

Ditto for my 3 series project. Cost a fiver a corner to fit at Nationwide. (cash)

Good comments made regarding most of them.

Just ordered 2 tyres myself from mytyres as I found they were the cheapest out of all the websites I tried. Delivered 5 days after ordering. They have a listing of places in your area (including the prices) that will fit them for you - although I did find the list had some of the garages missing from my area that will fit 3rd party tyres.

My experience of MyTyres says that you have to save a lot to cover the fitting and balancing costs of a tyre centre which may be hacked off with not having sold the tyres in the first place !
I think you are better off just buying from a web retailer which includes full fitting charges.
Mytyres.co.uk - Dynamic Dave
Buying 2 tyres from mytyres and discovering my local Vauxhall garage will fit them for £6.50 each, I have saved nearly £50 in total.

Just doing a quick comparision using a web retailer that also fits them I have still saved myself £25 by buying from mytyres and getting someone else to fit them.
Mytyres.co.uk - johnny
I just phoned my nearest My Tyres fitter direct, worked out slightly cheaper that the web price. About 25% less that Kwik Fit were quoting.

You do sava a lot, last year I bought 2 pairs (at separate times) of Hankook Ventus sport K104 tyres at £55 per tyre from mytyres.co.uk, had them fitted locally for £9 a wheel, that works out at £64 per tyre fitted. Cheapest other online supply and fit was Black circles, they wanted £104 per tyre. Saved myself £80 in all. Make sure you order at least two tyres though to qualify for free delivery, a single tyre has a delivery charge (only about £6 IIRC).

Doesn't anybody know how to fit a tyre themselves these days? You don't need garage equipment, just a pair of good old fashioned tyre levers. Use the rope trick to spread the beads, and leave it on an electric pump while you make a cup of tea.
Take them to be balanced if need be, but the ones I fitted from Mytyres were fine without balancing.
Mytyres.co.uk - VR6
I didn't realise people fitted their own tyres at home. I don't think I would do it myself as jacking the car up, taking the wheels off, disposing the tyres etc... would just take too long. I'd rather pay someone £40 to fit and balance 4 tyres for me.
Mytyres.co.uk - IanW1977
I've used them a few times but last time I had trouble getting someone to fit them and ended up paying about £40 for 4 tyres to be fitted and waiting 2 hours.

No wonder garages don't like you supplying the tyres, £35 for a Tyre off Mytyres or the garage supplying and fitting for more £75 hmmmm.

Why don't they use Mytyres suppliers themselves? Or is there something I am missing?
Mytyres.co.uk - Harmattan
Perhaps he was. In my home area of South Warwickshire, the average from the Mytyres site is about £10 a tyre, ranging from £7-15 a corner. If you run several cars and switch to winter tyres and back each year, it does make investing in some secondhand basic tyre changing equipment look worthwhile.

or two set of rims, one of alloy one of steel like what the Germans do.

This is exactly my point as in my earlier post, I need 2 new tyres for my Audi, which I want to keep as Conti Sport Contact 2's. I worked out that by buying from MyTyres as opposed to fully fitted from another web retailer, assuming it was going to cost me £5 minimum to get each tyre fitted, balanced & new valve, I would only save about £5 per tyre, which isn't worth it for the hassle of getting the tyres delivered etc.
I suppose Mytyres is okay if you just want to buy budget tyres at the very cheapest price, and you know a friendly tyre fitter who can put them on for you at minimal cost.

>If you run several cars and switch to winter tyres and back each year

But it's probably easier to get a set of steel rims for the winter tyres, as it saves having a vehicle on stands while you have to run out to the tyre-fitter to swap the rubber over.

Sorry Yokel, didn't see your response, most elequently put.

But my point is that just because it didn't work out for you, doesn't mean it won't work out for anyone.
Taking blackcircles as a well thought of web supplier who arrange the fitting for you, their price on Toyo Proxy T1-R's (which are not a 'budget tyre at the very cheapest price') is more than £20 extra over the mytyres price, per tyre.
If I can't find a decent tyre-fitter willing to fit for less than £20 a corner, then I reckon I deserve to pay more!
As it happens, I think last time I did this it cost £8 a corner, so I saved £48 by using mytyres.

I wouldn't class the tyres I bought from mytyres as budget ones. I shopped around several of the online tyre websites, and mytyres were the cheapest of the lot for the 2 Bridgestones I bought. One of the other online tyre websites (no names, no pack drill) cost just under £10 more for the same tyres just to be mail ordered to me, and then I would still have had to pay £15.20 for them to be fitted.

mytyres price
(including fitting by my local Vaux dealer):- £197.68

one of the other online tyre prices
(just to be delivered to me):- £206.36
(including fitting by one of their agents):- £223.98
Mytyres.co.uk - Xileno {P}
Not enough saving for me to be bothered:

205/50 R17 89V Continentals Contact 2

Renault dealer £232.63 for two tyres, fitted, VAT all inc.

MyTyres £185.22
Local fitter £15
Disposal £1
Total: £201.22

So I could save £31.41. But my time is priceless.

Now if I needed four tyres then that may be different.

A point no-one has yet made is that Blackcircles offer a 10% loyalty discount - which swings the balance in their favour after you've used them once. And their fitters come to your home if you wish. Having four fitted on saturday.

And mytyres are based in Germany...so if you phone the freephone number for help, you speak to a german. When I did so the conversation worked out OK but took a while to explain my point, although the guy was very helpful. In fact, I wish I hadn't called them because they sent four tyres instead of 2 and only charged for the two.......

The person I spoke to had a Scottish accent. Of course that could have something to do with them also having an office in Glasgow!

I work for a college teaching motor vehicle and if you ring them you might find they will fit the tyres very cheap or for nothing and they will probable balance them as well. its good teaching for the trainees

I often cringe at the way in which trained fitters put tyres on, I dread to think what the ones who are still in training are like!

To be fair, and just as a gut feeling, I'd guess that 'a lot more careful' might describe it. Especially if they've got any kind of assessor watching.
