Golf TDi - Grease_monkey
Got a Golf which i purchased 2 months ago. A couple of weeks ago i noticed that it had not got the pulling power as i had when i first had it so because of christmas etc could not get the car into Volkswagen until last week were they diagnosed it as a MAF sensor which they replaced under warranty. The car was great going home but on Friday coming home from work the car went sluggish (like there was no turbo)
Took it out tonight and gave it a good reving up to 4k once it was warmed up and it's great again.
Anyone got any ideas what it could be (if anything) which i could through at Volkswagen when i phone them. It's the second time that the car has let me down as it ran out of diesel 3 days after me collecting it due to a faulty sender in the tank.
The car is a TDi Match 100bhp on a 03 plate.
Any help and advice would be appreciated

i had a mark 3 tdi which had the same problem. The MAF sensor was malfunctioning - it kept going into "limp mode" like yours did on Friday. Your dealer needs to have another go. Another possibility would be the CPU - much more expensive but still covered by the warranty

Thanks for your reply jonjames. I'm getting no fault messages or lights up on the dash. Driving to work this morning it was fine leaving home but near to work it was like a snail. On flat road i slowed the car down to 1200rpm in 4th gear and accelerated and it really did struggle.
Anyone got any ideas?

Still sounds like MAF sensor. Faulty MAF sensor does not put MIL on. If its a new MAF sensor then check the connector and wiring. Also check all the air trunking and air pipes for splits, poor seating etc. Other than that, then it's back to the dealer.

I'm starting to think now if it is bad Turbo lag as it seems to take ages for the turbo to spoil up.
How much lag is there on one of these engines. Test drove a 54 reg new shape golf tonite and it has no lag, put your foot down and off you go!

The car i test drove i purchased 2 days after my last post on this topic but the new car has not been without a few problems. A month after i brought it it went back in for a new flywheel and clutch and a few weeks ago i noticed the passenge door rubbing on the wing so it been back for adjustment and panit work patch up.
When i was coming back from Minehead 5 weeks ago i noticed when on light accelerating from low revs it shudders very lightly as if it missed a beat and then drives like normal (does not do it all the time) Any ideas. No fault lights coming on just does it. The only thing i did before i leaved birmingham for minehead was top the oil up. Seems to be a bit of a coincidence? Not over filled it!! The count down for it's first service has come up now (400 miles to go) so i'll get them to look at it then but anyone any ideas? Got to have the brake fluid changed too, £68 what a rip off. Remember when i had my focus it was only £35 done by a ford dealer.
