Can you confirm,

does the scan find channels?

You can get other digital channels ok?

If the answer is no, and you have checked all your connections carefully then your FVB is fried by the storm, or your aerial has moved. Does your FVB have any signal strength or quality indicators in the set up?

I can receive some channels on digital: BBC, C5, SKY3, History and some others. I cannot recieve ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, C4, C4 MORE etc. The siganl strength and quality are OK according to the built in indicators.
The really puzzling thing is that I can get analogue perfectly without the FVB but not at all with the aerial signal going through it. This makes me think the aerial is OK, especially as I can get some digital channels.

Do you have a friendly neighbour with a digital aerial? If so, ask if you can temporarily hook your FVB up to their aerial lead and perform a scan.

This will either prove the FVB to be at fault or discount it from being so.

Actually there's no such thing - you mean a wideband aerial rather than the normal narrowband TV aerial. A narrowband aerial will pick up digital signals from Freeview but not necessarily all of them, hence the need for a wideband aerial.

"Digital aerial" is a marketing ploy used by retailers seeking to impress customers...:-)

As true as I stand here: In using the commonly accepted terminology of Joe Public I predicted I would be "corrected" by someone pedantic and actually thought it might be you...

Perhaps you'd like to do my lottery ticket entry on Wednesday then...:-)

He he! Unfortunately the lottery is less predictable than you are! ;-)

Not necessarily. Requirements for digital are much higher than for analogue.

Given this started with a storm, I would go for the aerial being moved or damaged.

If you can get any digital channels that mean that the fvb is working doesnt it ?

It does appear that the FVB is working but I cannot understand why simply passing the signal through it affects the analogue signal. Without FVB analogue telly is pefect but with it, analogue is horrible. I am just about to call my local tv shop to get the aerial man out.
