BMW 5 Series Suspension?

BMW 5 Series Suspension? - MokkaMan
I have a BMW 530I Touring (2001 Y), owned from new, low mileage. In the supermarket carpark today when crossing semi-recessed drainage gullies (they were not wholly recessed and protruded about 1/2 inch over ground level), the car really shuddered, right through to the steering wheel (I was doing sub 10 miles an hour at the time). The car is an SE but has sports suspension.

Is this a product of the sports suspension or is there a problem? I have noticed no other problems and it is driving normally and smoothly apart from this
