I was seduced by the Dark Side.. - Mark (Brazil, but in UK)
I've bought a Citroen for my sister. although she doesn't actually know it yet..

It wasn't my fault, it was the salesman's kids which did it........

Seriously though, I was driving, and subsequently bought, a Xantia Diesel Estate today. They're really quite surprisingly good and quite amazing value.

So, from here on in, I agree with that nice Mr. Woollard about Citroens.

I trust you bought it from a reputable source. My father in law is on his second Xantia and regularly sings their praises.

I know she'll enjoy the Xantia. Can't be much on the road to touch them, especially for the money. I run a saloon, and wouldn't swap it. Did you manage to locate the appealing and much sought "doom blue" ?

Also, If the dark side has seduced you, does that make DW the Emperor?

The most I've ever been bought by my brother is something significantly less useful than a Xantia. And now, over to you Mr. W. Go on, you know you want to.

I'm pleased Mark's Sister is joining the ranks of satisfied (we hope) Xantia owners.

Just a bit worried about the salesman's kids though, ever mindful of the Sunday doorstep callers that use a couple of children to ease their introduction.

If we hear he was offered a cup of coffee, fish a chip lunch and his favourite crisps then I'll be worried he's met the salesman of all salesmen.

i hope to be buying a xantia for my mother (to take the place of the citroen bx), i was looking at the 1.9D, its a 1994(L), with FSH by citroen, but i dont know much about these cars, the seller wants £1495 for it (the only way i can afford it is because i have just got a job as a 'field sales representative')

1495 is way over the top for a non-turbo L-plate, especially a saloon. Think more like 900 at the most. Great engine, just watch out for those coolant problems, and don't expect to break any land speed records. On the up side it sips fuel like a spinster aunt sips tea at the vicarage.

Now here's a thing...

My Father collected the car for me. Normally he drives an XJS automatic. He drove said Citroen Xantia TD some 100 miles and loved it.

My sister is over the moon with the thing.
