YET ANOTHER VIRUS. - ladas are cool
i have just had a virus called 'WORM_BADTRANS.B', it also has many aliases, but all have the 'BADTRANS' in the name.

it does not require the email receiver to open the attachment for it to execute. it uses a known vulnerability in Internet Explorer-based email clients (Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express) to automatically execute the file attachment. this is also known as Automatic Execution of Embedded MIME type.

the way that i got rid of it was through www.antivirus.com and i used the free tools, then just click on the free scan.

if you want to know how to delete it let me know.

i have just found the message that contained the virus, it came from honest john, but like i said, it attaches to anybody who has an email from you, (i have had a couple of emails from HJ, both about his dad's car)

This virus auto downloads as soon as you touch it when you are on-line and, however fast you delete it, it still deposits some of its files in your system. However, it downloads them into your computer from the net. So if you simply collect your mail, then go off-line, you might be able to double delete it without this happening. There is a plague of these things. I get about three every time I open my mailbox. And they've done some strange things to Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. By the way, Chris, I spent $35 on the antivirus from www.antivirus.com, but it failed to install and the help service does not respond. So be warned about spending any money with these prople.

What's happened now is the virus crippled my Outlook Express inbox, but tech support from www.antivirus.com arrived in my Compuserve box. Reading a few e-mails in there freed up the Outlook Box. Strange. But keep having to clean out WORM_BADTRANS.B. Deleting the suspect e-mails offline doesn't work.

i have to do the same with the badtrans (cleaning it out), i just wish i could get my hands on the people that create these viruses.
