does anybody know where i can buy a reversing sensor, the type that beeps more the closer you get to the car behind, i want something not TOO expensive, not like the ones for £120, thanks for the responses (if i get any).

turn around and use the two devices fitted to the front of you head - i think they are called EYES !

That is not a helpful answer and I understand Ivor's enquiry. I drive a large Ford F150 pickup with a considerable overhang on the rear bumper. I also would welcome info on where to get a similar device. I have rented cars several times in Malaysia and I noticed Protons there had sensors fitted as standard. It's such an obvious benefit I wonder it has been overlooked as standard fitment.

i'm looking for the same device too,
I've found some self fit kits on the internet (url at work and i'm not so i'll post them next time im in), but they looked pretty naff and 80s style. They were going for between £100 for the basic model up to about £300.
I've also got a schematic to make your own reversing sensor but again its at work, so i'll post them next time too (can you put pictures on phorum?).
Loads of new cars seem to be fitted with them now - I even saw them on a new MICRA the other day. Surely a decent aftermarket version must be available by now?

the reason i am wanting one of these devices, is because i sometimes drive a hightop transit van, with the back window painted out, so you have to reverse using the wing mirrors only, its murder to try and do in the rain.

Makro wholesalers were recently selling one for £25.00 (can't remember brand name) Easy to fit (took 2 hours) and has audible and visual warnings. Ring your local branch?

Try visiting autoexpress.co.uk - click on Product Tests then look under Reversing Aids. I have one fitted as standard on my BMW, not something I thought I would need but it has proved very useful. I have also thought of fitting an aftermarket one on my father-in-laws car as he is getting on a bit and finds it difficult to turn round properly when reversing.

This is going to sound like a daft question, but does this Makro kit just warn of things directly behind you, or would it help keep the corners of the car away from the curved walls on the steep descent on our drive?

it depends where you fit the sensors, if you put the sensors in the middle of the bumper, it will only tell you about the things directly behind you, but if you put the sensors near or on the corners of the bumper, then it might be able to tell you about whats near the corners of the car.
