New A3 3.2 Quattro - winston
I took a test drive in the manual version last Saturday, boy am I glad I did. This car has bags of grip and power. Even in the high gears, 4,5 and 6 you can still get plenty of power down. The grip is also stunning. It was wet roads on Saturday and this car stuck to the road like ???? to a blanket. I only had my A3 since September but already thinking of trading it in. What a car at only 24,000.

Don't forget this is due in the Spring.

When I told Mrs Dispstickk this car does 0-155 in 30 seconds (according to the review I read) she was INCENSED. She feels that if the limit is 70 then in the UK a car should be limited to that, or maybe 80 to allow for emergencies (although she says any emergency is better coped with by braking than accelerating).

Mrs Dipstick does not drive.

May I suggest that for your own sanity, Mrs Dipstick doesn't get driven anywhere for a while!

We travel along the motorway at an indicated 70. A Jag goes by at about 100. Mrs Dipstick gets grumpy, and shouts at him, "You won't get there any quicker you know!"

I retain a diplomatic if puzzled silence.

My mother-in-law is like that. Refuses point blank to consider taking her driving test (thank goodness) but insists on offering a running commentary of the faults of all the drivers around her when she's sat in the passenger seat.

Mind you, she also refuses to go on motorways, boats or aircraft, so it's relatively easy to get away from her should the need arise.

Hmmm, perhaps we need an "awkward passenger thread"?

which A3 have you got, and maybe trading in, pse, Winston?

I have the 2.0 FSI Sport. just over 5k
New A3 3.2 Quattro - carayzee
Got one ordered, coming in first week of January. I didn't think it was that quick in a straight line, but the demo model had only done 70 miles though. Grip was excellent as was bottom end power. 0-155 in 30 seconds is pretty good, apparently they do 160.5 with the limiter off (half-tank 2's-up etc.)
If I'd seen that Alfa GTA for £17,500 I'd have bought that instead.

I'll probably decide if I will get one at the end of the week, It would be great to get one, then I would keep it for a long time. Are you going to have the badge on the back or leave it plain?
New A3 3.2 Quattro - carayzee
It will have the badges, still very stealth though. Make sure you go through a broker or haggle as that grand off might make it more tempting.
