hi lads i have a 306 xsi 8v..i just got new tyres balanced and tracking done.......the cars steering is gone very light it feels like the cars gone go out of control sometomes when im traveling at about 65 to 70.........it was like this before i got all these things done to the car as well.....when the ot was passed the guy told me there was slight play in th esteering....do you think this is the reason for dodge steering??????????

Hi,
A new set of tyres will usually cause the steering to feel a bit lighter because of teh deep thread on the new tyres. But your problem sounds more serious than this. It might be an idea to get the front shock absorbers checked out as an imbalance in their preformance will tend to knock teh car off line, particularly on a bumpy road. Not sure how rigourous the MOT test is on shocks......

thanks mate..............ill check the shocks...........when teh guy passed my mot he told me theres a slight play in the steering..........and where it says about teh suspension...it says T R x2.........my uncle said it mite mean tyre rod........is that what it means?.....could that be the probblem....

T R means track rod.possibly track rod ends need replacing.they are the rods that come from steering rack.on both sides with a ball joint on them at wheel end could be that

thanks alot mate if i change the track rod end...... do i have to the tracking again............so there is a possiblty it could be the track rods.........

If the track rod ends are replaced yes the tracking will have to be corrected.if the track rods themselves are causing the problem at the steering rack end.You wont be able to do yourself.There is also a flexible joint between steering rack & steering wheel which can also cause it.How old is the car.I doubt it is the latter but you never know?.

I would be inclined to say it is track rod ends.it isnt old enough to be much else.still I could be wrong

You said this got worse after the tyres were changed? It could be they are over inflated. This reduces the contact patch and makes the steering light.
