Does anyone here know where i can get hold of a bumper for a 99V Mondeo estate. I want a new one in primer, or a second hand one in (i believe) state blue.

Hi Ben,

Not sure whether this helps but it may be worth a try.

Or try my favourite link: www.breakerlink.com have been very good for me when I've needed something slightly odd.

Also look at www.fms-ford-spares.co.uk/breaking.htm

And Google found this for me too www.partsgateway.co.uk/

Be a bit careful - there are some very poor bumpers around for estates. I had a lot of trouble finding one which was reasonable (not perfect). I got it from Uk Salvage in the end. Its new (but not genuine Ford), and they can paint it in the right colour. 01702 296230.

Thanks for that marlot. Unfortunately, i just bought one over the phone a few hours ago that was suspiciously cheap. Do you know what brand the one you bought was?

Buying one that is alrady painted sounds good, but how do i know the colour is going to match?

No worries - sorry I was too late. Hope the one you got fits. I had a towbar on my car so it took a lot longer than it should have (the bolts were rusty). Undo the two bolts each side on the rear valance, the self tapping screws round the wheelarches and slide it off.

As well as the bumper, you might need the side assemblies - its a square shaped captive nut assembly - the pin can break off. I had to get mine from the Ford dealer. You'll see them when the bumper is off.

The paint on mine doesn't quite match (it was done from the paint code), but its good enough.

Thanks for the advice. I will research getting hold of the side assemblies. I was planning on just giving the car to a body shop with the bumper and leting them do it. But i might rip the existing one off myself beforehand.

Anyone know any good body shops up north (newcastle area)?

I'm planning on going to my usual VW/Audi mechanic and asking which one he uses. To be honest i am only doing this to smarten the car up to sell on. The damage isnt all that bad. If i was keeping it i wouldnt bother. Probably would of been cheaper for me to do it your way. Anyway too late now, but ill store the number for next time.
