Don't come to the West Country! - Hugo {P}
That is the message to all those complete plonkers and retards that visit Devon and Cornwall year after year, enjoy the fantastic scenery and unspoilt views, then add their contribution - a bag of rubbish neatly tied up and thrown to the side of the road!

WHAT IS WRONG WITH HOLDING ONTO IT UNTIL YOU REACH YOUR HOTEL ETC??????????????

It seams that these holiday retards think that Devon and Cornwall are full of village idiots. Well they're nearly right - we get a lot of idiots in the summer months. If they want to see one, I can advise them to look in the mirror!

If you treat our counties with respect you're welcome, otherwise go and spend your holidays at your local rubbish depot. At least you can't spoil that!

Hugo me ole fruit

Just spent a week in Devon, Have to say all the locals were very friendly, the weather was good, and the food in pubs and resturants has improved by leaps and bounds, family and dog had a wonderful week. Dog even brought some friends home (sheep ticks)

Have to say the county looked very clean and yes we brought the rubbish home.

Hugo,

Have to agree that chucking rubbish from cars is no way to behave. But how can you be sure it's only the tourists?

Stu.

I'm afraid it's the same everywhere, tourists and local alike do it. And not just motorists.

At the risk of sounding like my father, when I was a lad I was taught to put sweet wrappers etc into my pocket and get rid of them at home or when I found a litter bin. I don't think I've ever dropped a piece of litter in my life. Nowadays parents don't tell their kids that (probably their parents didn't either) so the country's turning into a giant litter heap.

Still, at least "they" are looking at bringing in and enforcing fines for littering.

Hugo,

Got to go with Brill on this one. How do you know its tourists? Why not (y)locals?

Sadly I think that's probably true in many cases.

I'm extremely anti-litter-dropping, and have always brought my kids up to save their rubbish for the nearest bin. However, I have recently discovered that it is actually considered 'cool' now amongst teenagers to throw their rubbish onto the street, into other people's gardens, or just drop it as soon as they have finished with it. I have had several run-ins with my oldest about this, having been horrified to see him doing this. But 'everybody else does it and I'd get laughed at if I didn't do the same'.

Sad isn't it. And I agree, it's the parents' fault, you see so many of them leading by example. And I always embarrass my son by making him pick up any litter he has dropped.

Bad parenting is responsible for many of the evils in today's society.

Could not agree more HF but its now two generations deep so I do not hold out much hope of any improvement in the near future.

Always find it amazing that around me you can find these fast food wrappers about 20 miles from the nearest outlet. If you were to dump the wrapper why not closer to the place you bought it.

Also what about fag butts?

fag butts? i`d make them eat them. The things seem to have an extraordinary half life , some beaches seem comprised of more fag butts than sand. And the people who sling the contents of the car ash tray out of the window , well , do they honestly not mind living in a world surrounded by rubbish ? And the still lit fag ends flying out of the window and heading straight for my jacket when i`m on my bike , probably all been said before.

These people don't know what a rubbish depot is thats why they throw it on the roadside
