I have a 1995 Vauxhall Omega 2.0I Auto. When driving along the engine justs dies. But when stopped it will start again with no probs. Any Suggestions ???

Mine used to do the same, have u checked ur oil?
Could be idles speed control valve or if u r unlucky like me u'll need a new engine.

More info needed.
Does the engine just cut out?
Does it splutter before dying?
Does it misfire before dying?
Does it do it randomly, or is there a pattern? ie, when accelerating, cruising at a certain speed, etc etc.
Initial thoughts are a maybe you've got a collapsed catalytic convertor. The bits rattle around, block the exhaust and stop the engine. bits then settle back down into the bottom of the cat, and then the whole process starts all over again.

thanx for the reply and in answer to your questions the engine justs cuts out, no spluttering no misfiring just with no warning it cuts out.. it happens any time, either just pull off or cruising along the road but it does seem to be when easing off on the accelorator and slowing down.. it has been suggested that it could be the engine breathers need cleaning.. not sure where they are so maybe you could help me on that one if you know this car engine well..
much appreciate your help, thank you

Sounds like the classic Idle Speed Control Valve problem to me : gunged up due to blocked breathers. Incidentally does the engine management light come on?

Gaz,
you should be able to tell if you have a breather problem as excessive pressure can be detected in the crankcase. With the engine running take the dipstick out and see if you can detect pressure by either listening for it or putting your thumb over the end of the tube.
