I've used www.mytyres.net twice now with no problems. The first order for Continental winter tyres unavailable in the UK turned up from Germany in the promised week. The second order for reinforced Nokian tyres were promised in five days and turned up two days after I placed the order. The prices appear very competitive and I like being able to choose tyres recommended by ADAS or Swiss ADAC.

yes - just ordered two Michelins from mytyres - arrived three days after order and saved c£30 per tyre !

I was after P6000 for Sis' Puma (195/50/R15V) locally Kwik Fit £127.00 fitted. Cheapest was Mytyres @ £86.00 the pair delivered but not fitted.National Tyres also fitted @£127.00 and "we'll beat kwik fit" promise. Tyresonline £51.00 delivered. Mmmm.

should add £51.00 each ! Handy this site - could find any number of tyre sites promising the earth but only this one to provide any customer comments.

Reading the above 'tyres on line' thread with interest and the money that can be saved.
Has anybody any idea of the prices charged though by the local high steet tyre fitters (ie National, Kwikfit etc) on a 'fit only basis'. Are they enthusaitic in fitting only when they haven't sold the tyres ?
Any comments appreciated

My local independant tyre fitter pulled a face when I showed him the two tyres in the boot - mumbled something about a shortage of fitters, even though they obviously weren't that busy. Could I come back three days later ! Suspecting I would hear the same then, I took it to a National Tyres depot a bit further down the road.
They had no problems with fitting and balancing etc the tyres - cost £9 each - and did it immediately. I asked them how much these tyres would be from there - £95 plus the £9 fitting - in total for the two tyres £208. I paid £130 online, including delivery, plus the £18 fitting - at a total of £148, ie a £60 saving on two tyres.
I would imagine more and more people will take this option in the future, and the fitters are going to have to get used to fitting customer supplied tyres more regularly. Needless to say I won't be going back to the independant in the future, which is a shame, as they have given good service in the past - when you've bought tyres from them !

I would have thought any competent garage would be able to fit tyres for you.
My garage charges £5 a shot to have supplied tyres fitted, or he'll sell you a tyre and fit it for an all inclusive price.

The mytyres web site has a comprehensive list of independant garages willing to fit "mytyres" tyres (and prices!). I would be surprised if these garages restrict themselves only to mytyres customers.
So if you have trouble finding a fitter for any online tyres, try www.mytyres.co.uk
Enter the site, click on the "fitter" link half way down the right hand side, click on the down arrow alonside "town", and select a local town (the postcode search wouldn't work for me).

Oops I'm confusing myself now. The other references are to www.mytyres.co.uk, not www.mrtyres.co.uk which is another useless link.
I price compared mytyres against e-tyres (which I have used previously) and Tyresonline and Tyresonline are the cheapest for my Laguna by a good few £££. Tyresonline's delivery charges are cheaper per tyre, the more you buy which makes them even better value if you want 4 or 5 tyres at once.
E-tyres is straightforward though, as the prices include fitting AT YOUR HOME OR WORKPLACE for no extra cost.
The three figures for 2 Conti 19565H15 tyres were £97.60 delivered (Tyresonline), £104.60 delivered (MyTyres), £135.12 fitted and balanced (e-tyres).
Not sure how keen I am on the "stress" of persuading a tyre dealer to fit tyres they didn't supply, and wouldn't like the hassle if anything went wrong with one of these mail order tyres either.

In my limited experience never had a problem getting a tyre balanced and fitted. After all they are therre to provide a service and £5 to £10 a tyre for 5 mins work ain't bad!

£80.00 (the pair). Mech Guru has agreed to fit them for Sis.
