A3 1.8T engine stalling - stu001
I have a 4 year old Audi A3 1.8T that has developed a engine problem. When pulling away, or at low speed, the car will either shudder violently or stall. Even at higher speeds (eg 60 mph) you can still feel the odd vibration going through the car.

I have taken it to an Audi dealer who replaced the air mass meter. This seemed to solve the problem for a week, but then it returned.

Can anyone suggest a cause?

Dare I mention coil-packs?

Has the Audi Dealer seen the car again, after the initial fix?

Mmm..Not sure this is coil-packs. They can't fix themselves and Stu001 didn't indicate they were replaced by the dealer last time. Also, the mode of failure is not consistent with coil-pack breakdown according to the reports I have read.

I think its something else but sadly do not have the skills to suggest anything useful! Perhaps some kind of sensor failure causing fuel starvation?

Does anyone know any VAG forums that would be expert in these engines?
