Undercover - CM
I have noticed over the past year or so an ever increasing number of undercover police cars in London (when I say notice it is that they have got their blues and twos on). Is there a reason for this other than terroism?

They have a wide selection of cars, Fords, Vauxhalls, BMWs, Subaru. Was surprised to see a 330d Touring as an undercover car though.

I'd swear that I saw a Jaguar S-type today that had hidden 'blues' in the radiator grille. It was in Chorley, so if anybody from Lancashire Police can confirm or deny... (some hope!)

Funnily enough, I'd never seen one in the charming suburban pleasuredome that is Orpington - until yesterday. No idea what car type it was though. Well it was black, and square-looking.

Oh how little you know of me! I think I did pretty well to notice the colour. Best that you never need a witness to a car crime/offence in the Orpington area, I suppose.

My local plod all drive around in Mercs. The regular traffic guys all have C Class deisels and the unmarked cars are dark blue E class.

Must be nice.....

I always thought what a waste of money it was for the police to have such expensive vehicles but I presume that it makes financial sense what with resale values, less breakdowns etc etc.


Maybe it also saves them money with less sick leave as I believe that the average policeman (if there is one) has about 10 days a year sick leave
