Does anyone know if smaller wheels / higher profile tyres can be fitted to this car? I realise the brakes are normally the issue. I seem to be on an endless quest to find a sporty reliable comfortable car for 5000 miles per year.

We looked at this car earlier this year, nice but not quite what we wanted. The standard one was our preference, unfortunately it was only available in the hatch, the "coupe" had to be the Performance version.

But with regards to wheels the brakes on these will only work with the factory wheels. The standard model needs 18" and the Performance model needs 19". Any smaller will not fit. The calipers and discs are huge.

If you fit higher profile tyres to the standard wheels you will probably find clearance issues which could damage tyres and cause a crash.

But the most important issue is insurance. Any changes to the factory spec needs to be notified to the insurers, if you don't and have an accident you will have broken the T & C's and they will probably quite rightly refuse to pay out.

Surely larger wheels with lower profile tyres are more 'sporty'? And unless you have adjustable suspension, 'sporty' and 'comfortable' are mutually exclusive.

One does not buy an i30N for comfort, whatever the wheel and tyre combo. I remember seeing a review (I think it was on this site) and the ride seemed bone-crushingly hard.
