Ford Puma - Ford Puma 2000 mile update - drd63

Another couple of weeks and Harvey has nearly done 2000 miles, I did say he was going to have to work for his living.

With a few more miles and more familiarity thoughts have crystallised. He is very comfortable, the ride and seats are making long journeys very relaxing. The stereo really isn’t great, it’s OK for news stations but music lacks depth. Worth upgrading but it wasn’t an option on the Titanium 1st edition. Sat nav does take longer to boot up than in Mustang. Don’t know why both same sync system. Blis is great. Can’t believe it’s only a 1l engine, seems too tourqey and flexible for such a small engine. Sounds good when reved hard in sport mode too! MPG seems to have levelled out at 46, maybe too much use of revs and sport mode? Thought it might be better. However I think if one stuck to mway speed limits 50mpg should be possible. Overall very happy.

Hi Primus, hope you enjoy as much as we are and the ST line x has the upgraded stereo!

It'll be interesting to see how useful you find the 'Megabox' in the boot. It doesn't look big enough for an extra suitcase, but might stop shopping slopping around.

But it's not for me as it presumably prevents a spare wheel being possible.

On the HJ review one of the criticisms is it's not as cheap as the EcoSport. I thought that was a silly comment. The EcoSport was shi*t.

Saw one test drive reviews where they filled the mega box with water and put goldfish in!,!!

might be nice to fill with ice in the summer and put some cans ( soft drinks) in lol

or it’s a good place to hide loo rolls and hand sanitizer....!

The Ecosport is an ugly car with a dreary 0-60 performance and aimed purely at retired folk (apologies to them) who go no further than the supermarket.

After the Fusion, probably the worst car Ford has produced.

Now, the Puma is in a different class - stylish cute, just need one with some oomph. An RS Puma?

Hi Avant, not sure about an extra suitcase but for us it’s a great place to put wetsuits and wet kayaking gear. I know many hear like the comfort of a spare wheel but personally the use of space in this manner suits me better.

Hope you manage to collect as planned and enjoy when you do. I have very little extra to report back with mileage being so low recently.

Hi Where are you getting those figures from? Thanks

Hi,
the Ford dealer i used for my Focus estate PCP deal.
I got a decent deal where I have worked out I can pay up within the first year (based on 1 year/10k miles predicted values) and have a small amount of equity.
The salesman and I had a good talk during my purchase and realising I’m a bit of a bargain hunter agreed to keep me in the loop should he get any deals that are similar to the Focus deal.
He offered me a good deal on a Fiesta active this week ( a customer cancellation) but the car doesn’t suit my needs.
He stated once the Covid chaos has calmed down he should have some excellent deals on the Puma hybrid models due to the strong retention values.

What size discounts are people able to obtain on a new Puma? More than £3k of the list price?

These sound like decent cars to drive, the spirit of the original Puma preserved in the handling and performance. Only the looks put me off - especially the front end and the bulbous headlamps and front wings. Looks a bit like a Kia or Hyundai.
