Cost To Change? - Jase
Experts,

I'm shortly going to be attempting to do my best impression of a Wrong Car Right Car contestant.

Wrong Car - Ford Ka3 '98. Metallic silver 15k miles. Air con, alloy wheels - standard Ka3 spec etc. all in very good nick.

Right Car - Seat Leon Cupra June '02. Metallic blue 11K miles. Southampton main dealer Seat. Main dealer warranty etc.. (won't tell you the forecourt price as thats spoiling it)

What should I looking to aim for as my target cost to change (i.e my car + £???). Sensible answers only please.

Thanks very much in advance.

I reckon about £2700 px for the Ka and £11500 forecourt for the Seat, more if you sold the Ka privatley, leaving you £8800 to change.

I have cheated and gone to Glass's and the Seat website and my answers (off the top of my head above) are within a couple of hundred quid overall.

Cheers DavidHM. £9k was about the figure I had come up with aswell so there's my challenge. I'll keep the Backroom updated with my progress when the time comes!

Jase, can I throw a spanner in your works ? I would not like to guess at the figures, but I was in very similar position to you a few months back. We wanted to trade our Picasso in against a Cupra and our first stop was our local seat dealer. We were disappointed at the the low trade in figure for ours and said so. The dealer shrugged his shoulders, said that was all he could do and walked off. I then trawled around on Seat's website, found the car I wanted at the right price at a different dealer and gave them a ring. They were very helpful and offered £800 more trade in than than the first dealer and delivered it free with a full tank and mats (sadly they could not stretch to flaps as well). So if your dealer does not give you the right figures it might be worth having a phone around; there seems to be a lot of variance in price and attitude.
Don't forget, mats flaps and a full tank !

I walked away from our local Seat dealer last year because of a noticeable lack of interest in a p-x. Glad I did.

Just a thought, but have you tried to talk a 'deal' on a NEW one?
They might have handfuls of dealer bonuses to tempt you with!
